Harper is a sweet 60lb girl who was slated for euthanasia simply because she existed. She was going to be killed for space. Alas, she wasn't and we are so happy we saved her from this plight. She is such a special dog! Harper is the equivalent of sunshine in the form of a canine. She is SO beautiful, inside & out. She has a "foxy" look to her, with alert, reflective eyes. She's just barely a year old & from the moment we met, we knew she was special. Even after such a long and stressful journey from the kill shelter down South, she demonstrated trust instantly. Her puppy energy is certainly still intact & she has been enjoying playing endlessly with her two foster mates, a Great Dane & a Border Collie X. That being said, she loves her humans & will be best suited with a family who allows her to snuggle up on the couch and/or in bed with them. Harper is the BEST snuggler this side of the Mississippi & that is our favorite thing about her! She's also totally cool with kitties. She emanates joy, love & loyalty & will thrive in a home with an active family. She LOVES to be a part of the pack. I call her "Shadow" because she politely follows me wherever I go. Small squeaky toys are Harper's favorite, so far; when she hears that noise her ears perk up and she springs over with excitement! She's quite gentle and knows not to tackle - though it seems like she can't stop when she's running full speed - at the last second she psychs you out and dodges to the side! All with a smile on her beautiful face! The Shepherd in her mix truly shines. She walks surprisingly well on a leash with only a bit of weaving & she doesn't pull -though she gets a little startled in areas with lots of noise. She's also very curious and unafraid of water. Harper would make a great beach or boat companion. With all of her wonderful attributes, she will require gentle guidance. She's a sensitive girl but she's resilient & SO smart. Loud noises startle her, but she calms down easily with a pat and her human's gentle voice guiding her. She does pretty well in the bath but is not fan of the blow dryer -She's fluffy & has the softest ears! She's still a little timid in general and is hesitant about going up stairs and getting into the car, but is overcoming these things quickly with gentle coaching. We've expressed to Harper that from this moment on, NOTHING but love and affection is what she will receive. She needs a fun family with patience and unconditional love; could this be you? Harper is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed.
