Happy Tails Rescue, Inc. is a 501c3 NC non-profit organization whose main goal is to save as many canines as possible from abusive, harmful, and neglectful situations. On this site are the dogs we have saved and are currently up for adoption with an approved adoption application. Every one of these dogs has a story to tell. They are searching for their forever home maybe it could be with you! All our dogs are up to date on their shots by age, have been spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, and heart worm tested (as well as on monthly prevention) if they have tested positive they have been through their treatment and a dental is performed when needed. If you see one of our precious babies that you are interested in please feel free to contact us

What are our adoption fees? 8 weeks - 4 years $350 4 years - 6 years $200-$400 6 years and over $100 - $400 (All fees are subject to change at the discretion of the director) We base our fees on our average cost per dog. This includes spay/neuter, micro chipping, heart worm test, age appropriate shots, and one months heart worm prevention. Also in the event the dog is heart worm positive we put them through the treatment. Your new family member will come with a welcome packet that includes their vet records and chipping information as well as new owner products such as harness, poop scoop bags and case, toys and treats. In addition to our veterinary costs we also have daily upkeep expenses such as supplies, medications, and grooming. At times some of the items on this list may be donated to us which is always appreciated. Your fee helps up to cover our costs, plus allows us to help with medical cases as well, which can result in veterinary bills in the thousands just for one pup. Regardless of the amount spent on medical care for your new baby, their adoption fee will adhere to the above schedule.
Adoption Instructions
What is the application process? HTRI uses the following guidelines when evaluating an application: All pets must be spayed or neutered All pets must be up to date on shots (rabies and parvo/distemper) All pets must be on, and kept on, heart worm prevention along with the required yearly test. Some dogs will require a fenced yard, if this is the case exceptions will be made. This is in place to keep the dog safe and ensure it's safety. We generally do not adopt puppies out to homes that have children under 5 years of age, but this is at the discretion of our director. Generally, dogs who are large and active will not be adopted out to apartment or condo situations, final decision is at the discretion of our director. All pets living in the house must be listed on the application. The person who is going to be legally responsible for the adopted dog must make the application in their own name. We schedule meet and greets on approved applications. In the event that there is more than one approved application, preference will be given to the first received application. We check all veterinary references, and processing can take time so please be patient with us. Our number one priory is making sure we adopt our babies to safe and loving forever homes. Please be aware that submitting an application DOES NOT secure a dog for adoption, or put one on hold.
