About Kirby in Austin

**Courtesy Post** Kirby needs a new home. His mom passed away recently. He is just the sweetest little dude and I don't imagine he has many years left (he is almost 16!) although he is in good health so he could be a record breaker! He’s partly deaf and blind but, as you can see in the video, it does not slow him down. He will come with his arthritic chews and a year of flea prevention. Our home has 2 big dogs and 2 kids. Kirby would love a calmer home. He needs a securely fenced yard. You must also have a good vet reference. I want to place Kirby in Texas only. There is a small rehoming fee. If you are interested please email Kirby’s owner and she will email you an adoption application. Email:

**Courtesy Post** Shorty is a 6 month old cutie patootie!! He is a Jack Russell Terrier mix who will end up around 30 pounds. He weighs 23 pounds now. Shorty is neutered and current on all vaccinations. He's doing well with his potty training. He is crate trained...a blanket over the top of the crate helps him know it's night night time. Shorty is a puppy who is in the chew phase so he needs toys to chew. He only barks to get your attention. He sleeps at night in a crate or doggie bed. Does fine with either and loves to snuggle in his person’s bed when allowed. Shorty loves all dogs and is very submissive. Is gentle with cats and wants to play. He loves all people. Would do great with kids, but he's still learning not to jump up on people so best with older children. Shorty is an active puppy who needs activity and engagement. Learning how to walk on a leash but doesn't pull. He's still learning how to walk straight! Will make a great walking companion but may not be best for long distance as he has short legs and a long body...low rider. He sits quietly while riding in a car. He knows the comments for sit, off, come. Loves bones and tennis balls, toys and belly rubs. Dislikes: being left alone. Would do best with another dog or kitty cat friend present. His short little legs, long tail and long body make him so adorable. He is super fast for how short his legs are. When he gets the zoomies...he's hysterical. He's the absolute sweetest boy, is so happy to see you and gives great hugs! If you are interested please email his owner and she will send you an adoption application: show less

Uno is an adorable little four and a half year old shorty male Jack Russell Terrier. This guy is going to need a very special adopter. He has not been treated well in the past, nor was he socialized. Uno is very fearful of new people and new environments. His new owner will need to have patience while Uno comes to trust them. He came to Russell Rescue in January of 2021 with a heavy case of heartworms and on the verge of congestive heart failure. With a lot of crate rest, great veterinary medicine, and most importantly, lots of love, this boy now has a clean bill of health! Uno is heartworm negative now and has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. This boy is ready to find his forever home! Uno loves his foster mom and is affectionate and happy with her. But he is very afraid of men so his adopter must be female. He is very timid and darty, but warms up to be a sweet, uncomplicated guy. Uno requires a quiet home with no kids. He will need a home with no cats, no farm animals, no little critters like hamsters, etc. He loves the company of other dogs and female dogs should be okay in his new home. Uno needs a securely fenced yard. No wrought iron, chain link or electronic fencing. A home visit will be done before adoption. You must also have a good vet reference. We want to place Uno in Texas only. As stated, he is going to need a special adopter, so we want them to be close by. Uno loves to fold himself into a taco when he’s excited and howl along to the radio in the car. He’ll do anything for food when he’s in a comfortable environment and loves a comfy place to lay and will go under the covers at a moments notice. Uno’s adopter must be able to drive to Lampasas, Texas area to get him. This little guy will need plenty of time and patience before he learns to love and trust you. Uno’s adoption fee is $275. If you are interested in adopting Uno and you meet all of the adoption criteria listed above, please fill out the online adoption application at to get the adoption process started. Once you complete the adoption application, someone will contact you. Contact for Uno: show less
