About MacIntosh

Tosh is a very curious, active and smart little puppy (born early September 2021). We estimate he will be about 15 lbs when full grown. He is the bossier of the two puppy brothers mostly because he’s bigger and usually takes first place in eating, taking over the bed but also the first one to understand and master the pee pad! He has a very sweet disposition, and has overall medium energy for a puppy. He does what all puppies do - play, eat, pee, poop, and sleep - but does sleep through the night in his xpen. He is a great pup, and is ready to find his forever home. His best fit home would be one that has experience raising a puppy to be a great respectful adult dog, and lots of support through his journey from puppyhood to adulthood. He would be fine as the only pet if his people have plenty of time to spend with him and are home most of the day, but would do well in a home with other dogs and dog friendly cats. A home with children needs to understand the puppy teething/biting tendencies and be able to manage/train both pup and children the best way to interact. Kids over 8 should be okay. His remaining vaccinations, microchip and neuter will be covered by The REAL Bark. Anyone would be very lucky to have MacIntosh join their family!

Captain Courage is a very special, approx. 5 yr old boy, 55 lb boy. He was terribly neglected and abused by someone who kept him isolated in their yard. They injured his front left leg badly and, because he did not receive treatment, his leg could not be saved and had to be amputated. Captain is doing really well as a pain-free tripod! He is in a foster home with cats and has mostly ignored them when they are relaxed. With the proper introduction he should be fine living with dog-friendly, saavy cats. Being under-socialized with other dogs but friendly towards them he can get overly excited and his actions might be misunderstood by the other dog and cause a ruckus. He would do well in a home as the only dog, and if being adopted into a home with another dog, his best match would be a calm, mature adult dog who can guide him with further socialization with much supervision in the first months. He is not at all food or toy possessive, has excellent manners and knows basic commands. Captain loves all people pretty much from the moment he meets them, including children. Captain is overall pretty laid-back, happy to hang out in his favorite spot in the house or in a nice shady area in the yard (he really enjoys the outdoors). He is a solid boy, very strong, so his best fit home would be with people who have recent experience with strong, large breed dogs, preferably with some staffie or pittie experience. Although he has acclimated very well being a tripod, due to his size, he is not the perfect dog for a family who wants to go walking and hiking for miles, but loves to enjoy the outdoors and go on easy walks - just under a mile at a time. He loves cuddling and coupled with some easy time outdoors, he will be a very happy camper. show less

Kevin is a very sweet 1 year old with playful puppy energy. He has an overall medium activity level, and because of his youth may get spurts of zoomies and high excitable play. He currently lives with a toddler and several children who are ages 6 - 12 and are very respectful with dogs. The overactive play that occurs every once in a while is managed and overseen by the parents. Kevin loves being with his people, and being outdoors, walks well on leash, and equally enjoys chilling at home and cuddling with his family. He is not a barker, except when the UPS driver comes by. He is good with nice tempered dogs and with dog-friendly cats. He would do very well in a home with a private secure yard, and would be fine in a condo, townhouse or apartment with regular consistent walks for his potty breaks. He is fully crate trained, but of course would rather be hanging with his people. Because of his highly sociability he would enjoy a home where people are home most of the day to interact with him, so not a dog for people who work outside the home 8 hours a day - he would be too lonely and sad. If you think your home would be a great fit for this sweet little guy, please email us directly at therealbark@gmail.com and we will send you a link to our adoption application. “Ask not what your dog can do for you…”. Noni is not a dog that will bring you her favorite toy or wag her tail like crazy when you pet her, she is just not overly demonstrative as a rule BUT, when she cuddles up to you and sighs contentedly, or gives you a lick on the nose, your heart will swell with love for her. Noni landed in a shelter after she was abandoned in traffic at the age of 13 yrs, blind and hard of hearing, neglected and too weak to even stand. Noni hasn’t looked back since leaving the shelter. She eats like a little horse, is strong and walking again. She is in very good health overall, mobile (with some limitations) and alert. Noni is a sweet little lady who really loves to cuddle up to her people, she will sleep snuggled under your chin all night and enjoys napping in her bed with a friendly cat. She loves to have a good supervised snoop outdoors for her exercise (as well as regular visits outdoors for her pees and/or a poops). If she’s in wandering around mode indoors or you have to be away from the house for a few hours, just pop a diaper on in order to avoid accidents. She has great difficulty walking on slippery floors as her feet slide out from under her. Noni requires daily brushing – which she adores - and regular visits to a gentle groomer so that her coat does not become matted or overgrown. She has daily eye drops, and arthritis medication as needed. Noni enjoys car rides and would be happy to accompany you everywhere and, at only 12 lbs, that’s easy. If you would like to open your heart and home to a deserving and very special, sweet, senior lady, have a safe and level outdoor area (Noni can’t do stairs), and no-slip flooring or plenty of area rugs placed close together, look no further. Noni is very well suited to a home with cats but she tends to be assertive with other dogs so they have to be tolerant of her bossy antics in order to be a good fit. Gentle, mature older kids in the home would be fine. Her best fit adopters must have experience with senior dogs who require extra attention. show less
