About Winnie

Winnie is a whimsically wonderful and waggy water-loving woofer! This friendly and outgoing shepherd mix was wandering all alone in the Alamo Heights neighborhood when a kind resident took time out of their day to notify our rescue. Since the day we met her, Winnie has been an absolute pleasure to spend time with and care for. Since Alamo Heights Animal Care Services does not have a physical shelter location, Winnie and most of our other adoptable doggies board at a doggy daycare facility in town. Daycare staff say Winnie, "has been fitting in with us so well! She is such a smart girl and has caught on to many of our daily rituals like they were second nature to her." She loves romping around with the other pups and playing with the pool and water hose! In fact, daycare staff say Winnie won over the curiosity of an older, normally avoidant daycare dog! Words alone just cannot express just how great this little girl is. Fill out the below adoption application today to meet her in person and fall deeply in love.If you would like to meet or adopt Winnie, please fill out our online adoption application:

Meet Thor! This handsome hunk has a truly heartwarming story that is sure to put a smile on your face. On a hot summer day in north central San Antonio, a construction crew was working hard at their job site when they noticed something suspicious happening down the street... A car slowed down, pushed Thor out, and drove off! Thor trotted right up to the workers with a big goofy smile and instantly won their hearts. The construction site manager decided to help this boy out in his time of need and invited him to stay in the backyard of their work site. The men gave Thor food, water, shelter, and most importantly... love and attention! Being a happy-go-lucky social butterfly, Thor loves hanging out with the guys every day while they work. Unfortunately, Thor can't stay at the work site forever and we are all trying to help him find a loving family to join! He is a big and loveable boy who deserves nothing but the best from here on out. Will you be the "happily ever after" in Thor's story? If you are interested in meeting or adopting Thor, please fill out our online dog adoption application today:*Thor is not an official Alamo Heights Animal Care Services pet. AHACS is providing rehoming assistance to a kind San Antonio resident who witnessed Thor being abandoned. show less
