Well what about Bob? He started out making baby steps onto this finders porch, baby steps through a few weeks of treatment for a kitty cold, and baby steps towards getting more comfortable and social with staff at the clinic. He's healthy now and is a quirky staff favorite, and would love to find a home with an experienced cat owner to help work with him on some of those unique behaviors. We aren't sure if he was properly socialized when he was younger - he coos and purrs when you initiate petting, but bobs and weaves as if he doesn't know what a hand is - and is a bit of a food hawk, so he likely would do best as an only pet in a home without any young children. It doesn't take long to fall in love with Bob, even if he does always look like he can't figure out where he put his keys.  This rambunctious go-getter here is Chad, and he's eager to meet you! His friends would describe him as having boundless energy, nonstop charm, and an adventurous spirit, so he is looking for a partner in crime that can keep up with his need to be stimulated and entertained all day before cuddling up together at night. Chad seems pretty adaptable to any type of home, having lived with dogs briefly before being returned, and could live with children and another high-energy and social feline.  Rambunctious Kitten looking for a Playmate! Looking for non-stop energy and kitten shenanigans? Gunner is the kitten for you! Gunner is a 10-12 week old orange tabby that was rescued as a stray. He had a kitten cold but after some medication and TLC, he is feeling great. He absolutely needs a kitten or young adult cat friend to wrestle and play with (and learn some manners)! Because he is all about jumping and nibbling, he would do best in a home with older children. He has also been around a dog too.  This kitty is gonna put the boom-boom into your heart, and your beats per minute will never be the same! Jitterbug will turn a bright spark into a flame with his adorable antics and boisterous persona. Known for being a chatterbox, Jitterbug only wants your undivided attention and love, and will reward that with lots of requests for bellyrubs! He found himself at PAWS after his owner passed away and their children put him outside, where a neighbor scooped him up and brought him in. Because of that he is a bit nervous at first in new settings, but quickly warms up and shows his charm. He seems to be cat social, and would be able to live with older kids.  Age: 6-10 years old How I came to PAWS: Abandoned/Found Stray Animal ID#: A49794 Location: Foster Care.  Mr. Smith is a affectionate, gentle, and curious boy. He absolutely loves being pet, and will lay on you when he wants head scratches. He is much more into cuddling than playing with toys, but he does enjoy having a window to look out of so he can watch the birds. Mr. Smith gets along with both cats and dogs, he can make friends with just about anybody. Mr. Smith takes a daily medication for anxiety and nerve pain, without which, he becomes rather agitated and will chase, hiss at, and try to attack his own tail. While this is being managed with medication for now, an adopter may want to follow up with a full service vet for more in depth diagnostics. This behavior may be alarming to some small children, so a home with adults or cat savvy kids may be best. Mr. Smith is otherwise an extremely calm and sweet cat who would never hurt a fly! Any adopter who takes him home will be very loved and lucky!  Age: ~ 4 Years How I came to PAWS: Found Stray Animal ID#: 49723 I am not at the shelter.  This rambunctious 8-month old is ready for some friends to play with! Ralphie has got tons of energy and loves to play with all kinds of toys, but especially wand toys and laser pointers, which he could chase around all day. When he’s not playing with his toys, he enjoys taking a cat nap or snuggling up for pets. Ralphie also loves treats and has been doing an excellent job clicker training and learning how to sit for some treats. Ralphie is positive for FeLV (feline leukemia virus). As long as he stays healthy, he doesn’t require any additional healthcare. Ralphie can only live in a house as a single cat or with cats that are also FeLV+, and it’s recommended that he go for a repeated test to confirm his FeLV+ status. Because of his FeLV+ status, Ralphie’s adoption fee is waived. In spite of being FeLV+, Ralphie is a sweet and playful boy who would make an excellent friend! He’s still growing out of some kitten behaviors and may jump at your feet when you walk by, and would benefit from lots of playtime and mental stimulation in his new home. **Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is a virus that is specific to cats that attacks and weakens a cat’s immune system. Cats with FeLV can live normal, happy, healthy lives—with a shorter life expectancy than cats without FeLV. In the past, cats with FeLV in shelters were euthanized as soon as they were diagnosed. PAWS takes a different stance: we enable FeLV+ cats to live out their lives in loving homes. For more information feel free to check out the FeLV FAQs we have available on our website!**  Age: 8 months How I came to PAWS: Found stray  Animal ID#: A49689 I am not at the shelter.  Ruthie made herself right at home on her finder's porch, so we think she knows a thing or two about that indoor life. She was found to have been previously spayed and chipped, but beyond that we don't know anything about her before coming in to us. She is pretty confident and social, and would likely do well in most homes! Ruthie did test positive for FeLV at a vet before coming to PAWS, where she then tested negative, so to be sure she should be tested again sometime around the end of June in case one of those tests was false. That just means she should be the only cat in your home until we know for sure! Age: 6-10 years old How I came to PAWS: Found Stray Animal ID#: A49434 Location: Foster Care.  If you’re looking for a well-mannered lap cat to follow you from room to room, Sancho is your guy. This curious kitty is a glutton for petting and a purring machine. He loves his head rubs and will adorably stuff his face into your hand to get them. Any time that you sit, he will take it as an opportunity to curl up in your lap or flop against your leg. He loves to share your desk chair while you work and will purr with gratitude if you give him a little space alongside you. He also likes to be featured in Zoom calls but will relent if you place him on the floor or into your lap a few times. Sancho always wants to be in the room that you are in. No matter how sleepy he gets, he will wait for you to move to the bedroom before curling up on the bed and falling asleep for the night. The only thing that Sancho loves more than sitting with his human is sitting in a sunny windowsill. He spends many afternoons stretched out to his maximum length, enjoying the sun rays on his belly. He also loves to be brushed (and will even switch the side that he is lying on to help you out) which is a bonus for keeping his fur in check. Sancho is also such a warm and trusting boy that he will accept petting from friendly new people and will happily climb onto their laps. Sancho will be happy in any home with a sunny windowsill and lots of petting. He does love to be the center of attention, though, so he would probably do best as your only furry friend. Sancho is FIV+ and will also need some additional dental work in the near future (the sooner the better, based on his age). He had a minor cleaning upon coming to PAWS, but was diagnosed with resorptive lesions that will need further diagnosis at a full service vet. Check out my video: https://fb.watch/5Xi8GzsYGf/ Age: 10+ years old How I came to PAWS: Found Stray Animal ID#: A49500 I'm not at the shelter. Please email my foster parent at brooke.bernardin@gmail.com to learn more about me! **FIV is specific to the feline species, and is not transmissible to dogs, humans, or any other animals. It is spread from cat to cat via mating or deep puncture bite wounds. Thankfully, all our cats are spayed or neutered so mating is no longer an option! Since FIV does not spread through casual contact like grooming, sneezing, and food/litter sharing, FIV+ cats can live with other cats that have tested negative as long as the cats get along without fighting._____________________________________ To adopt a cat, complete the application at phillypaws.org/catapp.To adopt a dog, complete the application at phillypaws.org/dogapp.            Please reference this animal's ID NUMBER when inquiring. Tori is still working on her manners, but she is a very smart girl who already learned sit and a few other basic commands! She should live in a home that has experience training a high energy puppy!
