Jordan has a wonderful howl and affectionate nature. When he needs something, like a belly rub or a treat, he’ll tell you all about it. He enjoys attention from his person and is a good snuggler, but he’s also independent and is happy to spend time on his own in another room or outside. This beautiful boy is most likely an Alaskan Malamute/Siberian Husky mix. Jordan is 4-years-old and 90 pounds, with the biggest paws you've ever seen. Because of his size, he would probably do best in a home with older children. If you want a chill, low energy cuddly Bear dog as your companion, Jordan would be the perfect fit!! Jordan loves all other dogs, big and small. His foster mom has a feisty Chihuahua and he let’s her rule the roost. It would be great to see him go to a home with another pup. Jordan does a lot of play bows with other dogs, but he’s still learning to play and hasn’t engaged in wrestling yet.  When Jordan sees one of his people, or the leash comes out of the closet, he gets so excited that he spins in circles. His two favorite activities are playing ball and riding in the car. Although Jordan loves his walks, unlike other huskies, he doesn’t seem to need much exercise. He does well on leash. In addition to his potty breaks, he goes on a daily one mile walk and that tuckers him out. Jordan spent most of life on a balcony before coming to BASH and didn’t have the best manners or social skills. He’s progressed nicely, but still needs more training, When Jordan has a toy, he doesn’t like to give it up, unless he’s bribed with a yummy treat. With some more training in this area, he will be able to overcome it. Jordan will be on two medications for his lifetime: prednisone for swelling and THYRO-TABS for a low thyroid condition. Simply wrap the pills in the treat and he takes his meds like a champ. Go to BAYAREASIBERIAN.org for contact information on the foster dog. show less

Age or estimate: ~1.5yo UTD on vaccines: yes, and heartworm negative Skills: He is great when on leash as we have worked on neutrality out & about in the community.   Crate trained, leash trained, started on place training (tether or supervision needed), great in a kennel run, travels well crated in the car, great on structured pack walks with other dogs, good for grooming (hops up on grooming table for brushing), his nails keep short on their own through biking/running, introduced to dock, has been out in public (Bass Pro, Home Depot, Lowe’s), loves all people (including children), confident around wheelchair & adaptive tricycle, shows interest in chasing prey (not trustworthy loose around cats/chickens/other small animals), backyard or fenced land with secure outdoor setup required - loves & thrives being outside (not an inside pet), recall work started and needs to be continued, needs & loves to run (with human by foot or on bike), enjoys hiking, and is comfortable wearing a harness for running or dog backpack for hiking. He is cat workable while on leash, but will not be placed in a home that expects him to be suitable loose with cats or other small animals. Bio: Saffron came to us very underweight, with large portions of his fur missing. He has since regained significant weight and grown most of his coat back!  He is a typical husky that is happy to be independent and thrives living in an outdoor setup, with daily interaction and activity. He needs a confident/strong handler that is familiar with working dogs and/or huskies. Saffron has great food drive and loves to hand feed and train. He has great attitude during training (aka jazzed to do the things!), and has a lovely focused heel. He would make a great sport dog - could excel in obedience, agility, joring/canicross, barn hunt, etc, and we would love to see him placed in a home that will put his skills towards some kind of sport! He would also be a great active companion for hiking/biking/running. Go to BAYAREASIBERIAN.org for contact information on the foster dog. show less
