About Chuck

Please note that Chuck is FIV+. We encourage anyone interested in Chuck to research FIV before applying. The primary mode of transmission for FIV is through bite wounds from an infected cat. Casual, non-aggressive contact, such as sharing water bowls or mutual grooming, does not appear to be an efficient route of spreading the virus. As a result, cats in households with stable social structures where housemates do not fight are at little risk of acquiring FIV infections. This pet is available for pre-adoption and may not be officially ready for adoption, as it is still undergoing medical treatment. We anticipate that Chuck will be ready for his forever home by mid-July. Depending on the medical status, a Meet and Greet may be put on hold until they can safely participate in a meeting with potential adopters. In some cases, this pet may be able to move to its forever home while it is still under the medical care of Dallas Pets Alive. If you are interested in learning more, apply now and one of our Adoption Counselors will discuss the options available so you can bring home your new furry family member! Applications are processed in the order in which they are received; please be aware that this pet may have interested applicants ahead of you. All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. The standard minimum donation for dogs over six months to seven years is $200, puppies under six months is $250, dogs eight years and over are $100 unless specified otherwise. Meet Bandit Lewis! This two-year-old pup is the perfect mix of cuddly and playful. His foster mom says his favorite games are tug-of-war and keep-away, and when it's time to rest he loves a good cuddle with his people. Lewis also has skills! He is house-trained, good with kids, and knows the sit and stop commands. And he walks well on a leash and is crate-trained. Lewis is a good boy while his foster mom works, but he loves to play when he gets attention. Bandit Lewis did wonderfully with Dallas Animal Services "Playgroups" with having dog friends. He's been an only child for a few months but we bet he'll be able to successfully rejoin a pack with proper introductions! He also likes to lean on his people's legs until he gets a good belly scratch. Lewis's ideal home is an active one with a family who loves to play. He also loves belly rubs, but with a coat as soft as his, belly rubs are a delight! You might notice that Bandit Lewis has a special badge on his profile! Lewis is a "DPA Top Dog". A DPA Top Dog is a talented pup, that with the help of one of our partner trainers, completed a certification that included being sufficient in the following skills: sit/stay, loose walk on leash, sit politely for pets, supervised separations and accepting a greeting from a friendly stranger. Way to go Lewis! Bandit Lewis deserves the perfect forever home. Could that be with you? Apply to adopt him today! show less
