About Mango

This little cutie is Mango. He is about 1 year and 7 months old and weighs about 30 pounds. His DNA test revealed that he is a mix of American Staffordshire terrier, Mini American Shepherd, Mini Pinscher, Chinese Shar-Pei, and Old English Sheepdog in that order. Mango had some fear-based reactions which did not make him a good candidate for being adopted into a family with young children and was almost euthanized for making fear-motivated choices when his behavior was more than his original rescue had the resources available to fix at the time. Thankfully, he was a client of Sea Dog Animal Training and Heather had seen his potential and progress with positive reinforcement training. Though it is not typical for SDAT to take possession or responsibility of owned pets, we saw Mango's potential and he has since been spending his days with Sea Dog Animal Training working on becoming a Best Boy. Mango is up to date on vaccines, neutered, heartworm negative (and on preventative), and has no known health issues. He is an eager learner and knows all of his training fundamentals including sit, stay, walking on a leash, playing fetch, and car riding. He gets along well with other dogs but has not been exposed to cats, so we are not sure how he does with them. He is great with people and children ages 10+. Though he has made a lot of progress in becoming more confident, we do not recommend him for a household with young children. He is sweet, energetic and loves to play. This unique pup would love to find a forever home!
