About Onyx

Onyx A225788 Onyx is a 2 year old male who came into the shelter on 3/26 as a stray. Handling: https://youtu.be/BP_kEVUn93Y Is it a cat? A dog? Don’t know why this guy reminds us of Tom from Tom and Jerry... just us? Either way we love him! Onyx is a little head shy with the leash, but allows for handling. He’s a curious little guy, so his curiosity gets the best of his shyness and wants to see what we have! Chicken Onyx, we have chicken and pupperoni! Onyx is still looking for his owner, but is starting to settle in trust us a little more every day. As you can see, Onyx has a perfect sit and is happy to pose for pictures. We hope Onyx’s family finds him and wants him back, but if not, we told him we have his back... and his head and his long neck and his perfect little nose.

Abracadabra A222076 Abracadabra is a 2 year old spayed female who came into the shelter on 3/22/21 as an owner surrender. Handling video: https://youtu.be/aZaTOOARtDY Poor Abracadabra was returned after a few months for being too dog reactive. We knew she needed to be an only pet during her first stay and so did potential adopters. This world is full of only dogs, reactive to outside world type dogs, that live happy lives in homes willing to work with them. Abracadabra will need a family that understands her needs and loves her as a one and only. The little gal that left us last year came back all grown up (and in)! She’s a little cute chunk now but her ears still are the same spell casters we remember. Abracadabra is easy to leash and very engaging with her handler. She definitely didn’t love come back to the shelter and let staff know her displeasure but since that has seem to come to terms. She’s learned some new commands like down and takes her treats gently. Abracadabra allows all over handling and is respectful of our personal when we were down on her level. Every dog dreams of big grassy fenced backyards to romp around in but they don’t all need them to be happy. Abracadabra might do better in the burbs opposed to the hustle & bustle of city life, but a good home dedicated to her training is the best starting point for her. ** 2020 INFO ** Handling 10/25: https://youtu.be/wincB9Ra4X0 Handling video: https://youtu.be/bVrskJ32rzs Abracadabra will cast her spell on you and make you fall in love with her immediately, that's for sure! It certainly worked on us. Abracadabra is ready to get out of her kennel when it's her turn to get outside for some fresh air. This girl is sweet and playful and will nail her 'sit' for a treat each time she is asked. Abracadabra's tail wags and she seems to looooove human attention. This gal is on the smaller side and seems to have been well taken care of. And not to state the obvious but... how cute is she?! Abracadabra is awesome. show less

Her life has left a sad story of hardship across her body, face, mind, and soul. She’s so nervous about the shelter but never has she once given us a negative reaction when she’s uncomfortable. There is a sweet sad girl under all that baggage. Andorra can be slow coming out of her kennel. Between the torturous leash and the barking, she pancakes a lot. Andorra also has trouble with doorways and doesn’t love being outside in the cold. She will just stand holding on to the gate until we take her back in. She flinches every time she’s touched and gives the saddest eyes we have ever seen. Andorra does eventually allow light petting when we came to her and seems to feel more comfortable with under the chin pets. Andorra doesn’t want any of our treats and thinks toys are scary too. She is quiet in her kennel and feels safest there curled up in a tight ball. We are going to keep working on trust and confidence. Andorra will need a quit foster home that gives her space to come out of her shell at her own pace. This poor girl has seen too much sadness for all of our lifetimes. show less

Who can blame him though. He is slow to come out of his kennel and hates going back inside too. Earnest is low key inside, usually quietly laying in the back corner out of sight. He can be suspicious of the leash but doesn’t put up a big fight coming out. Earnest has mellow energy like an older dog but it’s hard to tell his age by appearance. Outside Earnest is still a mellow guy that doesn’t ask for much. He does some owner searching but will also engage with him handler. Earnest allows handling all over, really enjoys butt scratches, and his happy just to be next to someone. He doesn’t show much interest in toy or treats, hates getting his picture taken, and doesn’t appear to know any commands. We might never see the full personality Earnest hides under his shelter worries so a home that allows him to come out of his shell at his own pace is best. show less
