About Cheeks

DOB: 4/2/20 *****Cheeks is Feline Leukemia Virus Positive**** Our Cheeks is a great boy! He survived panleukopenia as a kitten, but was then diagnosed with FeLV. He arrived in our FeLV Suite from his foster home he had a lot of spunk, energy, and sass. Cheeks has mellowed out as he has grown up, but though he still likes to play with the other cats in the FeLV suite. He has become an attentive, and sometimes bossy, big brother to some of the kittens who currently live with him.  He would be fine in a home with another FeLV positive cat, or on this own. Cheeks is a friendly companion cat who will want to be with you, playing with your shoelaces or playing with a toy.  He gets easily involved in wand toys, laser toys, and anything with a mouse.  Generally, Cheeks will follow people who come into the FeLV Suite around and then take his chance to cuddle with them or play. Cheeks just celebrated his first birthday and is ready for a forever home! Please follow Cheeks and his friends on their IG page: felvcatsofkittenrescue If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting [im, please click here to email her foster parent. If you are unable to send an email to the foster parent through the link included above, please contact us and let us know what kitty you're interested in.  You may also fill out our adoption questionnaire to speed up the screening process.  Be sure to name the cat in the CAT PREFERENCE field at the beginning of the questionnaire. DOB: 6/1/18 Ash is a wonderful boy. He was part of a group of cats owned by 1 man who lived alone and passed away 2 days before Christmas, 2020.  While this man was in the hospital trying to survive a stroke, his brother forced all of the cats outside and abandoned them with no care or food.  The community got involved to trap, care and support these animals who lost their dad who never came back home.  He has been in my foster care ever since December of last year.    Ash is very sweet and active.  He uses a litter box and scratch post very well.  He typically enjoys being commingled with other cats once he gets used to them.  But he can be a solo cat as well.  He is spayed, fully vaccinated and very healthy.  He loves to play with wand toys and will entertain you for hours.  He is a “great Goalie” catching toys in the air and trapping them on the ground.  He has not been around children or dogs; only cats both male and female.  He loves to be pet and lick treats right from the back of your hand.  He has a sweet purr that sounds similar to a pigeon cooing.  He is really a fun sweet boy. DOB: 1/26/21  Silly Aster is probably the wildest one of the group, yet incredibly affectionate and isn't shy about showing his love towards his foster Mom. He loves wrestling with his siblings, Indigo and Iris, but once he spots his favorite human, he runs over to her and sits on her lap or perches on her shoulder.  He loves giving kisses and getting his tummy rubbed too. He is a very high energy kitten who loves playtime with his siblings and is always the first one to the bowl when it's time to eat. Due to his young age and energy level, this adorable kitty would love to be adopted with one of his siblings. These siblings have truly bonded and need to be adopted in pairs only. DOB: 2/6/18 Blade is a very sweet kitty who gets along with other cats. A bit of a shy guy, he responds to pets and attention, but will have a longer adjustment arc to a new environment. Prior to coming in to rescue, Blade was living as a stray in the valley, doing his best to stay alive. While he was on the streets, he injured his front leg. A vet exam revealed that he did not need an amputation. Though he can not use his leg fully, he can plant on it and is able to get around well and get on the lower levels of cat trees, and he can probably get on the sofa to binge watch your favorite show with you.  After all he has been through, this gentle kitty can't wait to find his forever home.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent. DOB: 12/1/20 Bliss and Bunny are very special girls!  They were rescued from the city shelter (along with their brother) where they were about to be euthanized as the shelter did not recognize that they had a neurological condition, called Cerebellar Hypoplasia.  We have a lot of experience with caring for cats with this condition so we immediately knew we had to rescue them.  Cerebellar hypoplasia (CH) is a neurological condition where the brain does not develop properly and it causes cats to be wobbly when they walk and sometimes lose balance. In the girls case they have an extremely mild form of it, so they are able to do everything that other cats can do – they just have a very cute wobble when they walk and run.  Occasionally they will stumble, but they can climb and also are able to use the litter box without any problem.  Bliss is the more social of the sisters and likes human company, and they both love all of the other free roaming cats at the nursery.  They certainly don’t let their condition slow them down and most of the time you would never even know that they are any different from the other cats.  We think they are purrfect just the way they are. You may also be able to catch glimpses of the girls if you tune in to our nursery livestream https://explore.org/livecams/kitten-rescue/kitten-rescue-baby-kittens. DOB: 3/1/14 Briggs and Cheyenne are a bonded pair of slightly older cats who definitely don't act their age -- and all the better for us, 'cause the fun and antics know no end with these two. Here are some words that Briggs's foster mom uses to describe this endearing fellow: Playful and mischievous, curious and persistent, sweet, affectionate and cuddly, funny and cute, talkative and loud, easy going. She says he gets along great with other cats, he's very people oriented and wants to be where his human is, but isn't clingy, he gives kisses, and most of all, he's got TONS of personality.   And this is what she says about Brigg's girlfriend Cheyenne: Besides being a real beauty, Cheyenne is sweet and affectionate, she starts purring the second you touch her, she's independent but also loving, she's playful, confident, and she gets along with other pets that are friendly. She's a lovely lady cat and an all-around good girl.   So you can see these two are a couple of wonderful felines. They're healthy and youthful, upbeat and loving, easy going and fun. What more could a person ask for? Would you like to be the lucky one??? DOB: 1/10/2009 Hi!  I'm Brody and I'm an amazing cat!  Yes, I'm a senior citizen, but I'm still very active, playful and I'm very affectionate.  In fact, my foster mom says I'm quite a character!  I'm sort of like a dog, because I come running when you call me, I greet you at the door, and I beg for food!  I was rescued off the street when my previous owners moved away and kicked me outside, where I became very sick and almost died.  After several months of vet care and a special diet, I am now healthy and ready to be a 'special' companion to a very special human.  I hate dogs and I'm okay with other cats, as long as they're not aggressive or territorial, because I like to be the 'alpha' male of the house.  Everyone who meets me falls in love with me! DOB: 2/17/21 These kittens are so cute, sister and brother truly love each other! Chip is short for chipmunk as she looks more like a chipmunk than a cat. She is very small and will probably stay a small adult. She is the brave sibling and the first to try. Dip is named so because he is still pretty shy and would dip and dodge for awhile. He slowly warms up and becomes a totally sweetheart. He waits for his sister to tell him that something is ok to do and then he is all for it! They do everything together! They would do great in any home with other animals or children. They absolutely love my adult foster cat. These two are as sweet and playful as the come! DOB: 11/7/20 Cupid was rescued on February 14th – hence the name … and he sure has lived up to his name at our nursery in every way. Cupid has not met a cat he doesn’t like or get along with. Whether it’s a high energy kitten, or one of our special needs Powerpuff girls who cannot stand or walk, or any kitty in between, Cupid befriends them and gives them what they need, whether it’s a play session, a cuddle nap or nice bath.  Cupid loves humans too and is very sweet and affectionate with his two legged friends.  His BFF is Mojo Jojo, who has a mild form of Cerebellar Hypoplasia.  When Mojo Jojo first arrived at the nursery, unable to walk, Cupid decided he was going to become Mojo’s emotional support animal. We believe it was this very special therapy that Cupid provided that really helped with Mojo’s recovery, so much so that Mojo is now able to walk and even runs and climbs.  This duo loves to play, wrestle and cuddle together and we would love to see them find their forever home together.  We think they are a purrfect pairing.   You can watch them if you tune in to our nursery livestream https://explore.org/livecams/kitten-rescue/kitten-rescue-baby-kittens. DOB:  6/19/12 Dakota is a chill dude with a short, crooked tail.  He likes to hang out and observe his environment,  but he always down for playing with any type of string toy. Dakota tolerates brushing and petting to an extent, being more on the independent side vs. wanting to glue himself to a human. Dakota's ideal person would have some experience with cats and would give him a chance to relax into his environment.  Though we haven't seen him get involved in mutual grooming sessions, he does get along with most cats and could do well in a home where he was the only kitty or could share the space with other cat tolerant cats. Dakota is ready for his special person to take him home.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent.
