DOB: 2/6/18 Blade is a very sweet kitty who gets along with other cats. A bit of a shy guy, he responds to pets and attention, but will have a longer adjustment arc to a new environment. Prior to coming in to rescue, Blade was living as a stray in the valley, doing his best to stay alive. While he was on the streets, he injured his front leg. A vet exam revealed that he did not need an amputation. They will run to greet you if you have food and love to frolic, run and explore the world around them. They have a need for speed! DOB: 3/1/14 Briggs and Cheyenne are a bonded pair of slightly older cats who definitely don't act their age -- and all the better for us, 'cause the fun and antics know no end with these two. Here are some words that Briggs's foster mom uses to describe this endearing fellow: Playful and mischievous, curious and persistent, sweet, affectionate and cuddly, funny and cute, talkative and loud, easy going. She says he gets along great with other cats, he's very people oriented and wants to be where his human is, but isn't clingy, he gives kisses, and most of all, he's got TONS of personality.   And this is what she says about Brigg's girlfriend Cheyenne: Besides being a real beauty, Cheyenne is sweet and affectionate, she starts purring the second you touch her, she's independent but also loving, she's playful, confident, and she gets along with other pets that are friendly. DOB: 1/10/2009 Hi!  I'm Brody and I'm an amazing cat!  Yes, I'm a senior citizen, but I'm still very active, playful and I'm very affectionate.  In fact, my foster mom says I'm quite a character!  I'm sort of like a dog, because I come running when you call me, I greet you at the door, and I beg for food!  I was rescued off the street when my previous owners moved away and kicked me outside, where I became very sick and almost died.  After several months of vet care and a special diet, I am now healthy and ready to be a 'special' companion to a very special human.  I hate dogs and I'm okay with other cats, as long as they're not aggressive or territorial, because I like to be the 'alpha' male of the house.  Everyone who meets me falls in love with me! DOB: 4/2/20 *****Cheeks is Feline Leukemia Virus Positive**** Our Cheeks is a great boy! He survived panleukopenia as a kitten, but was then diagnosed with FeLV. He arrived in our FeLV Suite from his foster home he had a lot of spunk, energy, and sass. Cheeks has mellowed out as he has grown up, but though he still likes to play with the other cats in the FeLV suite. He has become an attentive, and sometimes bossy, big brother to some of the kittens who currently live with him.  He would be fine in a home with another FeLV positive cat, or on this own. Cheeks is a friendly companion cat who will want to be with you, playing with your shoelaces or playing with a toy.  He gets easily involved in wand toys, laser toys, and anything with a mouse.  Generally, Cheeks will follow people who come into the FeLV Suite around and then take his chance to cuddle with them or play. DOB:  7/15/11 Chester is a sweet old man cat who's been through a lot in his life.  We're not sure exactly what happened to him, but we suspect he wasn't taken good care of AT ALL, and after almost ten years of that shoddy treatment, he was dumped at a high-kill shelter -- simply discarded.  We couldn't bare to see such a good-natured old fellow die in the shelter, unloved and unwanted, so we got him out, just in the nick of time.   It turns out he has some health problems, which is no wonder, considering how neglected he was throughout his life.  He has FIV, probably from getting beaten up by other cats.   FIV is not a big deal, of course, in the sense that it's only contagious through fighting, and Chester is not the fighting type, so he would never give it to any other cats.  He also has an underlying condition of IBD (irritable bowel syndrome), requiring that he be fed a special gastrointestinal food, along with probiotics, Vitamin D and steroids.  He is very good about taking his meds, though, and good about using the litter box.  With the help of his medicines, he's doing very well now.  He's put on weight and is obviously feeling great, based on his happy disposition.  Of course, even when he was at his sickest he was affectionate and friendly as could be.  It's just who he is!   Chester is an incredibly sweet, loving boy who just wants to be with his human.  He'll sit by your desk while you're working and make sure you're doing everything right.  He'll join you for television viewing, or anything you're into.  As long as you're there, that's where he wants to be.  He's curious and engaged, and just a joy to have around.  He's also very playful, for such an elderly gentleman!  He simply has a wonderful disposition and is an all-around good cat.     Chester deserves to have a loving home for the remainder of his life, which may be many years yet, to make up for the horrible first decade of the poor boy's life.  If you're willing to go the extra mile for him, he will repay you a hundred fold.   If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent.If you are unable to send an email to the foster parent through the link included above, please contact us and let us know what kitty you're interested in.  You may also fill out our adoption questionnaire to speed up the screening process.  Be sure to name the cat in the CAT PREFERENCE field at the beginning of the questionnaire. DOB: 2/1/16 SPECIAL NEEDS: STOMATITIS The first things you will notice about Corey is his sweet disposition, his love for affection and his soft, plush fur that makes you want to run your fingers through it every chance you get...and he loves it when you do.  Corey is not afraid to make new friends and is affectionate with every human he meets. He also has a confident, easy-going personality to round out his winning traits.  This sweet boy was recently diagnosed with Stomatitis after he underwent full mouth dental extractions. Corey requires an adopter that is willing and able to take him to the vet for regular injections when his gums flare up. Aside from flare ups of Stomatitis, Corey is a happy, healthy kitty that loves attention, affection and wet food.  Stomatitis is not contagious so Corey can be adopted into a home with another friendly cat or he can be adopted into a single pet household.  You are welcome to meet this handsome boy and see for yourself what a gem he is. DOB:  6/19/12 Dakota is a chill dude with a short, crooked tail.  He likes to hang out and observe his environment,  but he always down for playing with any type of string toy. Dakota tolerates brushing and petting to an extent, being more on the independent side vs. wanting to glue himself to a human. Dakota's ideal person would have some experience with cats and would give him a chance to relax into his environment.  Though we haven't seen him get involved in mutual grooming sessions, he does get along with most cats and could do well in a home where he was the only kitty or could share the space with other cat tolerant cats. DOB:  11/13/12 **** SPECIAL NEEDS*****SEIZURE DISORDER****   When we saw Devon at a city shelter we couldn't help getting him out. He has beautiful gold eyes and who can resist a tripod kitty?! We can't imagine how he survived on the streets fending for himself with only three legs, but somehow this resilient kitty did. When Devon arrived at our sanctuary, he was friendly and easy going, but one day he had a mood swing and became very aggressive. At that time we also noticed that there were some physical tics and realized he was having a seizure. We took him to a vet and started him on anti-seizure medication, and we were happy to see him stabilize and become again the happy, easy going kitty that he was when he first arrived. He gets medication three times a day.    Devon likes to nap on the beds around the sanctuary with his belly in the air and his legs akimbo. He enjoys getting pets and rubbing affectionately rubbing his head on people's legs. DOB: 3/13/18 Duke was found on the streets of Lancaster where a good Samaritan picked him up. She was unable to keep Duke, so he came to live at the Kitten Rescue Sanctuary.  Duke likes attention and pets from people, but it looks like he would prefer to be an only cat. Duke currently lives at the Kitten Rescue Sanctuary, so we can't say if he will sleep on your bed and steal the pillow, or if he will run to the door to greet you when you come home. DOB: 11/15/08 When Kitten Rescue emptied East Valley shelter, this beautiful 12 year old diabetic sweetie was among them. She was skin and bones, losing her hair, and was pretty stinky. Now, with her diabetes under control she is 15 pounds, her hair has grown back (although some of it is now a bit grey) and no longer stinky. While Ella is sweet and loves to be held and pet and cuddled and even will sit on your lap, Ella needs a home were she is the ONLY kitty. She truly dislikes and attacks other cats. She's ok with dogs (although not thrilled about them she can co exist if the dog has no interest in her.) She does need twice daily insulin shots to keep her diabetes in check. DOB: 4/7/18 Sisters Ellen and Portia are looking for a furever home together.  Ellen and Portia are special, darling creatures.  They love a good treat and are super sweet, but shy, so it will take some time for them to get used to a new family.  Portia loves to hang out under her foster Mom’s bed, then comes out for her pets and attention, which she revels in. Ellen, who is FIV+, also loves to be caressed and doted upon.  Portia has the most beautiful soprano mew, but doesn’t always show off her singing skills.  These two love the family dog, who tolerates their adoration of him. DOB: 1/5/2018 Fanny was found by a KR volunteer as one of two supposedly semi ferals whose “caretaker” was moving and didn’t want to take them. I though she was going to be basically feral but she came out after about 3 days. Sat on a very soft pillow and can always be found there. Fanny LOVES to be pet and she even lets me pick her up. She is still a bit skittish but when she gets spooked a bit she runs a couple of steps and waits for me to pet her again. Fanny would love to be in a quiet home. Either a single woman or a couple as she is not afraid of my husband either. She hides from my grandkids so a home with not a lot of guests or activity would be her happy forever home.
