Anakin von Aach is a gorgeous 2 year old German Shepherd. Anakin is another dog from a more rural area who isn't too sure about life in a busy city kennel. He'd love to find a calmer adults only home away from all the hubbub. Anakin needs some time to adjust to new people and situations. He can be hand shy at first but off-leash he is calmer and more social. He's working with our professional trainer but he will still need a skilled handler who will help him feel more comfortable on leash. When it comes to his interactions with other canines, he meets them well but they don't hold his interest - and he does better with easygoing ones. He enters the play yard calmly, meets everyone well, avoids problems, and appears more relaxed and happy off-leash. Anakin would be so grateful if you would give him a chance. Axel von Apolda is a very handsome 2 year old Shepherd mix. Axel started his journey to Westside not knowing what life was really about. He previously lived in a rural area where we suspect he was not exposed to many people or different situations. Our professional trainer is working with this special boy who needs an equally special owner -- one who is experienced with dogs, as well as calm and matter-of-fact versus sentimental or overly-affectionate -- one who will continue Axel's transformation, together with some complementary training that Westside will provide in his new adults-only home. Axel has come so far. He now starts his day calmly and happily when he leaves his kennel. His leash manners, with just a little reminder, are great and he takes in all the smells of his new life as he walks down the street. Axel enjoys playgroups and interacts with all the dogs. He gravitates to the calmer dogs who match his personality and even enjoys playing with them. Those over-the-top ones, he avoids. At our rescue facility Axel has become an affectionate boy with the staff. He needs a little time to become comfortable with new people, so he needs someone willing to be patient with his progress. Axel will be so grateful for a confident owner whom he can trust to expose him to new experiences in life. Baja von Bosau is an adorable 12 month old Chihuahua. She was rescued together with German Shepherd Brody, and they are very attached to one another. Baja is among the illustrious group known here as “honorary shepherds,” as she is a wee little one -- but with a big personality. Baja is not a purse dog; she enjoys her walks and does well on leash. Barrett von Bergholz is a beautiful 5-6 year old German Shepherd. This handsome black/brown, happy fella enjoys being with people. He soaks up attention and is friendly and affectionate. Barrett also loves going for walks, and has no problem meeting and walking with 6 other dogs, both male and female, as long as they're not overly dominant males. Where he has a problem is his announced aversion to cats -- no feline friends for Barrett, thank you! Bravo von Berlin is a beautiful 2-3 year old smaller sized German Shepherd. He is a calmer boy in our kennel setting, he settles in nicely on walks, and he walks well with other dogs and does not pull on leash. Bravo’s presence of mind requires a calm and confident owner; and the rewards will be infinite, as he will respect and treasure your bond - he can be very loving with his people. In playgroups, he enjoys meeting other calm canine friends, surveying the atmosphere, and returning to greet people. The kennel staff remark how he always has a smile on his face. He even knows his basic commands, and he is housebroken and crate trained. He would really enjoy a task or a goal. He wants to show you he can accomplish anything with the right structure. Although he generally does okay around dogs, he does not appreciate certain males, and needs a cat free home. Bravo is looking for his better half, one who will form a partnership based on honor, structure, and admiration. He doesn’t yet know what to do with all his energy and his inclination is to run free and fast. He is excited to meet other dogs; with clear direction, he settles down and walks well with other dogs. Brody von Bergfeld is a stunning 4-5-year-old German Shepherd. (If you're looking for a pair, Brody and Baja, the little Chihuahua, are very attached and we are trying to keep them together.) This handsome, mid-energy boy is big and beautiful. Coming out of his kennel, he is strong and tends to pull a bit since he is curious and ready to explore the world. He likes to meet other dogs; with some, he can try to take charge or be pushy, but he listens well to corrections and then behaves like a gentleman. She enjoys pack walks with other dogs but she’ll always prefer to be your one and only (and she's a no for cats). She is excited when exiting her kennel and has an air of confidence. He ventures out of his kennel excited and ready to go on a walk but, with some coaching, will focus his attention back to you. Buddy von Brilon is a stunning 2 year old long haired German Shepherd. He has a striking black, grey and brown coat and the most adorable face. Like many people, he has a few things in his past he is not proud of, but he has turned over a new leaf! He has been super good in the kennel with everyone for the last few months. He came from a home, and it was traumatic for him to end up in a kennel. He was returned for lack of social skills, basically attached himself to one person in the family. He has had some obedience training, and knows his commands. He is also housebroken. Buddy loves dogs, he would do great with an active dog, a yard and an adult home, he would be happy as a clam and so would you! Buddy comes with follow up training with our trainer. Buster von Billerbeck is a very sweet, 4-5 year-old, smaller-sized Shepherd mix. He's a thoughtful boy who walks well on his leash and wags his tail the entire time. Happy and excited to get the chance to explore the neighborhood, he has an easygoing personality and only wants to be around dogs who feel the same way. He dotes on his humans and soaks up all the petting that he can get, especially if you find his favorite spot, which makes his kicking leg joyfully engage. He didn’t get out much or get much attention before coming to Westside, so Ceasar is easily excited by his new normal. He generally has an outgoing, happy personality and is ready to go on his next adventure, whatever that may be. He is a lover of affection, walks okay on a leash, knows some commands, and meets other dogs well. In playgroups he prefers non-pushy dogs. Caesar needs people who will keep up with his training and socialization and guide him in a new happier life. Consider giving this handsome boy the life he deserves! Chewy von Celle is a beautiful 1-2 year-old German Shepherd. This big boy with the soft ears and sweet smile is quite the sharp fellow. Medium-energy Chewy enjoys his walks and is quite observant, always keeping an eye on what or who may be ahead. He is apprehensive towards unfamiliar people and surroundings, and will do best with a shepherd-experienced owner who can introduce him to new faces and friends both slowly and cautiously. With patience, Chewy becomes an easygoing, well-behaved boy who can be very sweet with those he knows, eating up any affection you’ll give him. Off leash, Chewy seems to enjoy the company of dogs (but not cats). He really enjoys canine playgroups, roaming around with his pals and soaking in all the playtime he can fit into his busy schedule.
