We all had an interesting 2020 but Ali certainly had a difficult one. She and her 6 siblings recently had their lives turned upside down when their owner fell ill and could no longer care for them. Still adjusting to her new situation, Ali is reeling from that change and unsure in new situations. However, after a few weeks, you need only to sit with her for a bit to see her sweet nature. As she begins to trust you, she enjoys gentle pets and offers of treats. Ali enjoys the company of other cats and is not active. She would like a peaceful home where she can feel secure. A patient person will be greatly rewarded by building a relationship of love and trust with Ali.  Prior to adoption, all cats/kittens are spayed/neutered, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, vaccinated, dewormed, deflead, and microchipped.   show less

We are so happy to announce that Audrey is available for adoption. Audrey is estimated to be 4-6 years old per our vet. She came to us from San Jose Animal Care Center after being left behind during a family crisis. After learning she was safe and loved in her foster home, she began to show her true self, which is silly, sweet, and whimsical like Audrey Hepburn. She craves kisses and head scratches. When she sees or even hears her foster mom, she comes out and rolls over on her back, and nudges her hand when she stops petting her. She does get very excited during petting sessions, and will swish her tail. Her coat feels like the most luxurious velvet you've ever touched. She has chocolate highlights when she sits in the sun. What Audrey loves most is to cuddle with you in bed. She will sit or sleep close to you and loves to receive kisses. Audrey will be most comfortable in a quiet home. For example: no young children. She is a wonderful companion looking for her true forever home. Audrey is spayed, up to date on vaccines and flea meds, and has been dewormed. She has had a full checkup at our vet and got a clean bill of health. Cho was found in a cat colony, but as she showed some interest in humans, we felt that she would be safer and happier in an indoor home. Her foster worked with her on socialization, and she has made great strides. Cho is playful and engaging; she loves to bat balls and mice around the room. Though she does seem to enjoy the presence of her foster and purrs loudly, she prefers to be held and petted while she is inside her felt cat cave. She startles easily when approached outside of her cave. For that reason, Cho will still need a patient and cat-savvy adopter who can continue to work on her socialization. While Cho may not automatically be a friendly lap cat, we see that she is definitely working in that direction! Dot was rescued with her sister Pinky and would love a home where she and Pinky could stay together. Dot started off nervous and shy, but had made a lot of progress while in foster care. She is the more serious, cautious older sister to Pinky, who is the exuberant, excitable little sister. She prefers to watch and let Pinky take the risks first, and then join in.  Once she is comfortable, she enjoys playing with people and eating treats out of their hands, and will join you for a cuddle once she gets to know you. Dot loves to hang out in her little kitty cave, no matter which direction it's facing, inside out, upside down, already occupied, underneath, or on top. She will insist on her new home having an appropriate Dot-approved kitty cave. Dot is not a big fan of being picked up, though can be bribed into tolerating it with the a treat, but is happiest with her feet on the ground. It may take her a bit to join in, but once she gets started she loves to play and will spend lots of time cuddling or chasing Pinky. Dot will need time and patience to acclimate to new people and places and would likely do best in a quieter household, but once she's comfortable, she is a sweet and loving girl and will continue to become more outgoing in the right environment. When he is excited and happy, he will move his tail and roll his body to show you his belly and purring out loud. What tops the charts for Elvis? Brushing! Frankie has a resilience and zeal for life that will capture your heart. She is so much more than her origin story but to understand where she is today, we have to acknowledge how far she has come. Frankie was shot with a pellet gun and some of the pellet fragments were lodged into her spine. Despite great efforts and surgery, Frankie remains semi-paralyzed in her back legs. She is undergoing daily physical therapy to stimulate her muscles, which she enjoys and cooperates with, especially if treats are involved.  Despite her therapy, it is likely she will never walk normally again. This does not slow Frankie down in the least! Wind up a toy and watch Frankie go go go! She zips around with the zoomies like any cat, and chases toys and shadows like a pro. Frankie likes to join her foster Mom on the couch or climb up into her cat tree. Nothing stops this adventurer! Except maybe bedtime with her person, she loves to share the bed or couch.    Caring for Frankie requires some experience with cats. She will need to continue her low-level physical therapy routine. Frankie can't totally control when she pees or poops. To prevent leakage and to avoid clean-up, her bladder is expressed three times a day. Any potential adopter will need to understand, learn and commit to properly caring for Frankie's needs while understanding they may change in the future. This trio of garden cats would be happy hunting and lounging in a cozy backyard. The tuxedo and tortoiseshell are girls, and the all black cutie is a boy. They are not social with people or suitable to live indoors, but they work, live, and add a bit of whimsy to your life outside. They are great hunters. These three were TNR'd as kittens in October of 2019, and have been living along with a few other cats in a backyard since then. There are quite a few cats in this yard, as well as indoor cats in the home, and so we're hoping these three can continue to live and hunt outdoors in a new forever-yard. In the past, they have run away from a small dog and may do better in a yard with no dogs.   These three cats are not owned by The Dancing Cat. He is still developing his confidence but with some encouragement he should become more and more confident as he gets comfortable. He really wants to be playful and with acclimation will become an energetic bouncing boy. Once he feels safe with you, he'll roll over and be affectionate with you. Golden is such a loving and gentle lion and gentlemen. He is attuned to his surroundings, loves attention and sees the positives in every new day. He is coasting into his retirement years with all the joy and ease that so many people do in the second half of life. Golden loves to play via the window in the morning and watch the squirrels and birds eating. He loves his toys and dried catnip in one of them. He plays morning, later afternoon, and late in the evening. This guy opens up and loves to be pet, the more you do it the more he wants it, especially belly rubs. The key at first is to spend lots of time near him while he is on his blanket with toys and slowly he will come to place his paw on you.A bright spirit and good nature helped him through his recent health journey. Golden has a condition better known as "Pillow Paws" and while this is resolving he had to endure many vet visits and treatments, all in stride for this easy going guy. Gulliver has, indeed, had many travels in his 8 years, but most of those travels happened recently. After his owner passed away, Gulliver was cared for by another nice woman until he was rescued by us. So far, Gulliver isn't too sure of his surroundings. But even as he prefers to hide for part of the day, we can see that he is a sweet and gentle soul who wants to bond with someone. We continue to work to make Gulliver feel more comfortable, but we are sure that he would flourish in a quiet home with a patient family. Havana is a very sweet older male Russian Blue mix. He is a stray in a residential neighborhood in Martinez, the north-east bay area. He's calm, talkative, and very friendly. He stays by his humans' side for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He doesn't stray far and it is always easy to find him. No one knows his history. People say he has been around for a long time with no home. Neighbors who know him and feed him would like to see him find a forever home where he can live out his senior years. Havana might prefer to be an only cat. This has prevented him from being adopted by a few families in the area. He once went to the veterinarian to have a scratch cleaned, and after that he lived indoors for a little while to heal. He used his litter box with no problem.  He is looking for an indoor retirement, but may appreciate a catio outdoor option.  Havana is not owned by The Dancing Cat. Inkling is a sweet shy tween that would like to be your little shadow. She was rescued from a community cat colony when it was noticed she had a bad upper respiratory infection. While recuperating, she developed a fondness for indoor dining, brushing, and a comfy bed and decided to stay with people. Inkling is still a bit shy and nervous around people and activity, but is also quite curious and interested in what's going on. She likes to observe before joining in. She loves her toys and enjoys being brushed on her terms. Though not treat oriented, when everyone else is getting treats, Inkling likes to join in, but asks instead for headbutts and pets rather than treats. She's just happy to be included. Inkling gets along well with other cats and would like a household with additional cat(s) to play with and follow around. Iris is a gorgeous girl with a heart even more beautiful. Her long fur commands attention and her green eyes mesmerize. Beyond being a stunner she is sweet and interested in people. If you want a gentle companion who will stay near you once she acclimates, this is the cat for you. Iris struggles a bit with change and needs plenty of time to acclimate to a new space. Iris would thrive in a quiet home and she may be happiest as your only pet.  Iris does not use a litter box, this is a behavior that despite much effort has not resolved. In the distant past she has used a litter box but will not use one anymore.
