#725425 Age: 6 months How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by the previous owner on March 28, 2021. At SDHS:They have received great care and are now ready for their new home! Interested in adopting?: This animal's adoption counselor is committed to helping them find a home. To begin the adoption process, please reach out to the counselor directly at: nbrhymes@sdhumane.orgWhy this pet is the one for you:This adorable little roly-poly hamster is looking for a home of his/her own! Hamsters are burrowers! They love to have a large habitat with deep layers of bedding that they can burrow into! In the wild, hamsters dig burrows up to three feet deep! This hamster dreams of having a space large enough to have a separate burrow for all of his favorite activities (sleeping, eating, and pooping)! He may be small, but this hammy has a lot of energy! Hamsters will thrive in a home where they have various outlets for their energy. It's important to them that they have plenty of space in their habitat to run around, as well as a large wheel to run on, and plenty of safe playtime outside of his habitat with their human. A great way to give your hammy a spacious, but inexpensive habitat is to build a DIY hamster bin cage (google it!). This little sweetie is an intelligent creature who likes to keep his/her mind sharp. This hammy would love a human who can make him/her plenty of toys, and daily enrichment to keep him/her entertained! If you'd love to give this hammy home of his/her dreams then click on "Adopt Me" to learn more about this little cutie today! #250592Age: 3 Years 9 Months (approx) Weight: 16lbs How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by their previous owner on April 16, 2021. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home! Why this pet is the one for you:This big fluffy boy is Bentley! Bentley is a very sweet cat who gets really stressed in new situations. Most cats dislike change, and for Bentley, he becomes very shy in stressful situations. Bentley is looking for a calm, stable home to open up and thrive in. To help set Bentley up for success, his new family should prepare a confinement room for him! To learn more about confinement spaces for cats and how they help transition them into a new territory, copy and paste the following link into your browser: https://www.sdhumane.org/resources/pdf/introducing-a-cat-to-a-new-territory.pdf With this confinement space set up, Bentley will have the opportunity to gain confidence, bond with the humans in his new home, and show you his bright and friendly personality! Because Bentley is fearful of new things, loud noises, and strangers, he is hoping to find a low traffic home without many strangers coming in and out. He would also prefer to only be around children who are old enough to quickly read and appropriately respond to cat body language. If this sounds like your home, click Bentley's "Adopt Me" button and schedule a pre-adopt phone call! Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 16 Age: 3yrs 9mths 2wks show less

#[716180]Age: 12 Years 2 Weeks (approx) Weight: 10lbs. 0.16oz. How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by their previous owner on February 2, 2021. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home! Why this pet is the one for you:Blaire is a wonderful, energetic older lady. She is looking for a loving home to live out the rest of her years. Blaire loves roaming around, playing with toys, and watching out the windows. She grew up having access to the outdoors, but due to her age, it would be safer for her to be kept indoors. She might enjoy short, supervised leash excursions in a fenced yard, or maybe even her own screened in cat patio! Blaire has some medical needs including Hyperthyroidism that will require upkeep. Adopting a senior cat does come with some extra responsibilities. Senior kitties like stability, calm, and they want to do things on their own terms. Senior cats also tend to be milder than younger cats, providing steady companionship, without the constant need for supervision. Blaire would love to bring some joy into your home! She will make sure no lap is cold and no face is without a smile. Her gorgeous coat, curious demeanor, and precious personality would make a great addition to a quiet, loving home. If you're interested in hearing more, click Blaire's "Adopt Me" button and schedule a phone appointment with an adoption counselor! #727488 Age: AdultWeight: Unknown How this pet arrived:This pet was brought in by their previous owner Interested in adopting?: This animal's adoption counselor is committed to helping them find a home. To begin the adoption process, please reach out to the counselor directly at: sdcadoptions@sdhumane.orgWhy this pet is the one for you: Meet Brownie! He is looking for a rat-savvy human who will spend lots of time gaining his trust. Rats are social creatures, who need to be kept in pairs or groups to thrive. Luckily, Brownie arrived at SDHS with his best friend Lil P 727489! These boys are a bonded pair who will need to be adopted together. Rats need to have a nice spacious enclosure (at least 4 cubic sq feet for two boys but more is better!) filled with toys, hammocks, and hiding holes. Get creative! There is a wonderful DIY community for rat enrichment. At meal times, you can provide them with their rat pellets, safe fruits, and veggies! Monitor their intake of sweet/fatty foods so they can stay fit, healthy and happy. They'd love to get out of the enclosure to get a good stretch! Just be sure to put up all the cords and other chewable items, as well as blocking off any potential hiding spots that you can't reach. You can set them up with different toys and mazes and watch them break a mental sweat! Rats are extremely intelligent and love to work out puzzles in exchange for tasty snacks. Doesn't that sound like the perfect way to spend the day? Click on "Adopt Me" to get started! Primary Color: Brown show less
