 This beautiful brindle baby is Barley! Her sweet personality and gentle behavior have won over everyone she meets, so be prepared to fall in love with this sweet girl.  If you’ve been following us on social media, you might recognize the puppy-dog eyes from her well-documented medical journey. If not, let us catch you up: Barley came to  PAWS with a rubber band embedded around her wrist as well as some mobility issues in her hind legs. When we went in to do surgery, we found out she has a blood clotting disorder. It made her journey to recovery a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. While she may always struggle with some mild mobility obstacles in her hind legs, she’s doing amazing with her recovery! Most of the time, you'd never know she had an issue.  Though Barley can be a little shy when meeting new people, this couch potato is as sweet as can be once she trusts you. She's a great snuggle buddy and would be happy to hang out with you in bed all day. She'd do well in a moderately active home that can take her on regular walks so she maintains her strength. We also think she could live with another large, well-mannered dog -- though she would like to meet them first! According to her foster, Barley does really well in her crate and has also done well with house training thus far.  Cuddly and snuggly, lover of life and friendship, Beethoven (Bae) wants to be there beside you for it all! At 3 years old, Beethoven has all the energy to play with toys and go on nice walks, but has an equal amount of dedication to his naps (especially with at least one paw touching his human family!). Truly a neighborhood celebrity already, he leaves everyone smiling who meets him. While he loves giving and feeling the love from adults and older children (12 years and up), he does get a little too excited around other animals and would do best as the only pet in the home at this time. He is a 10/10 with “sit” and “lay down,” and is working on “stay” and “paw.” Beethoven's owner should be prepared to work on impulse control, and basic manners in the home. He tends to jump a little when playing and is working on keeping all paws on the ground. Beethoven is not a fan of alone time, so he'd prefer a household with rotating schedules, or an owner who works from home, especially while he transitions to a new environment. He is a quick learner, and dreams of spending his life with a family who will love him as much as he loves them!  Accio kitty! Unlike her name, sweet Bellatrix is a shy, quiet girl who loves nothing more than to curl up on a lazy day. This beautiful, all-black cat would be the perfect companion for your Netflix binges and reading marathons. No judgment from her! Her favorite place in the house is her bed, and honestly, can't we all relate? She also loves basking in the sun and playing with her toy fish. Petite little Trixie is slow-to-warm-up but once she feels comfortable, she gets very attached to her people. Her striking green eyes and quiet mews are sure to melt your heart! And despite the black cat myths, I'm sure she will bring nothing but love into your home. Due to her shy nature, Bellatrix would be most compatible with a family without dogs or small children. After being found stray with an eye infection, he was transferred to PAWS where he had surgery to fix the entropion for his right eye. After a few weeks of battling colds, we ran a few more tests and discovered he is positive for both FIV and FeLV, as well as having the feline herpesvirus. He'll need a special home to manage his long term medical needs, since he is likely to have recurring eye infections, as well as an adult only home where he can be the only pet and your center of attention. Binky can get overstimulated at times, but with proper enrichment to keep him active you'll also get to enjoy all of his lovely and irresistible cuddle positions! If you're ready to he his hero, he'll happily be your sidekick!    **Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is a virus that is specific to cats that attacks and weakens a cat’s immune system.  Blue's heart is as big and soft as she is! Blue Bell is goofy, animated, and super loyal. She loves curling up on the couch, but also gets the zoomies on occasion, and wants to play tug of war with her toys. Blue loves people, though she does take some time to warm up to new faces. Once she is comfortable with you, she will be your best friend! She does well on a leash (even if she does pump the brakes for interesting smells), and is currently learning about crate training to help her feel less anxious when she's alone. Blue will thrive in a quiet, dog-experienced adult household where she can continue to work on getting comfortable with new faces.  This handsome boy with the pink stripe across his face is precious, playful and super chill. It is no surprise that Leo Bowie was cared for by members of the neighborhood where he used to hang out - he is super friendly, will come when called/whistled - he just wants to hang out, get chin scratches, laze around, with some intermittent play here and there. It IS a huge surprise that this guy was not a former house cat, that we know of anyway - he uses the litter box readily and neatly, he does not scratch furniture (perfectly content with two scratching posts/toys), and loves to watch television. He almost immediately acclimated to our Center City home with two small children, including gentle play and snuggles with my high-energy youngest child from whom most animals keep their distance. While working from home during the ongoing pandemic, Bowie has been a perfect office companion - sleepily laying nearby or purring quietly at my side. He has a distinct and almost musical MEOW but uses it sparingly - sometimes to say hello, ask for a treat, or when he is exploring a new space/room. Thanks to our Nest cam, we know that, when left solo for a bit, he prefers to cat nap and, every now and then, will entertain himself with his toys (he loves the mouse on a string tumbler toy). Leo Bowie has tested positive for FIV. Based on interactions in the shelter, Leo Bowie appears to be cat friendly. His FIV status does not exclude him from homes with other cats. He should also not be around outdoor cats who could bring his weakened immune system into contact with other illnesses. Leo Bowie has showed zero signs of aggression under a variety of challenging circumstances, including transitioning from street to shelter to our home - all while requiring daily medication for wound treatment and/or eye drops. He completed his antibiotics without problem, and is finishing up his eye drops.  Cammy is a doe-eyed sweetheart who is looking for a quiet and calm, adult-only household. Cammy was surrendered to ACCT when her owner could no longer keep her, and is still learning how to trust people again. She is a petite, but active lady who would benefit from a home with a yard, and someone who can keep her mind and body happy through physical and mental enrichment. She loves playing with toys and could play fetch for hours! Cammy is rather nervous around new people, so an adopter who lives in a quieter part of town, or outside of the city would be ideal. Once Cammy warms up, she will hop in your lap like she's your new best friend. She loves affection and cuddling up with her human at night. Cammy could live with another respectful medium or small dog, though there may be an adjustment period while she gets used to sharing a space. Since Cammy is used to having someone around all the time, she would love an adopter with rotating schedules, or who works from home - She does tend to vocalize when left alone, so she is not well suited for apartment complexes.  Sassy and Beautiful: Meet Miss Cora! Cora (nicknamed Moo Moo) is the prettiest cow cat with the loudest purrs in the world. As soon as we saw Moo Moo in the shelter, we had a hunch that she was a special cat– and we were right! Her first day or two in the foster home were quiet, but after that, it was as if a light had switched. We began to see Moo Moo for who she really is– not as the shy, scared shelter cat we saw days earlier, but a curious and playful little diva. Moo Moo is the perfect cat, even for first time cat owners. She loves to play, but also needs her space. She has the brightest green eyes, and is a perfect litterbox user. She likes your attention, but won’t ask too much of you. And being only 1-2 years old, she has her whole life ahead of her!
