Why this pet is the one for you:Angus is a silly, stocky goofball who loves playtime, praise, and petting! While he will eat cheese and whipped cream, his real passion is play. He absolutely LOVES balls, especially tennis balls and Jolly Balls, and enjoys playing tug with rope toys as well. He also loves going for sniff walks and offers the cutest rapid tail wags in response to baby talk! Overall, Angus is a very vocal guy who will bark and whine for you to spend time with him - and once you do, he won't want you to leave his side!Angus has spent some time at our Behavior Center to overcome some shy/fearfulness and frustration related to barriers. Using playtime, praise, and petting, our trainers and animal caregivers have worked with him to develop confidence, especially around new people (he can be a bit shy at first!). While he has made great strides, Angus will do best in a low-traffic, calm household with older children (16+) or adults who can read his body language and help him feel comfortable. He is recommended to go to a family without cats, and while he may do well living with another dog, he will need to be supervised during play sessions. Due to his shy/fearful nature, he would prefer not to hang out in high-activity areas like dog parks and beaches - but don't worry, he'll keep you plenty entertained at home and on walks! Finally, Angus has some orthopedic issues, and needs to lose a little weight to look and feel his best. Now she's ready for her new home! Why this pet is the one for you: This rose eyed beauty is Babbity! Babbity has had a hard time finding a home because many people over look pink eyed animals. Similar to black cats Albino animals are usually the last to be adopted. This breaks our hearts because New Zealand rabbits are often known as "gentle giants". Babbity is incredibly personable and outgoing. Despite her winning personality adopters haven't given this gem a chance once they find out about her pink eyes. We think Pink eyed rabbits are beautiful, and we always advise choosing a pet based on their heart rather than their appearance. Babbity loves zooming around her room with her siblings and jumping off things like a wild parkour bunny! She adores new company, but she prefers to "take things slow" when it comes to PDA. She's an affectionate rabbit with people she knows, but may duck away if a stranger tries to pet her. However, she has no problem getting in their space and following them around! In her foster home she lived with other rabbits and a rabbit friendly dog. Babbity loved her dog, and enjoyed spending time with her by jumping on top of her! She also enjoyed being groomed by her dog, and often fell asleep during grooming sessions! Babbity, like all rabbits, will need a large x-pen/playpen like enclosure with at least 12 square feet of room to stretch out. Rabbits are very easy to litter-box train, and Babbity is getting better at this everyday! Babbity will also need plenty of daily time to explore outside of her pen and hang with her human! Why this pet is the one for you: Meet Baby Spice! She is looking for a rat-savvy human who will spend lots of time with her. Baby Spice is still young and learning how to interact with the world. For such a tiny creature, new things can be very scary! It will be up to the humans in her life to show her that she can trust and be loved by humans. This socialization process will take time, gentle handling, and lots of treats. Rats are social creatures, so Baby Spice looks forward to living with a rat companion! If you don't already have a rat companion at home for her, she could go home with one (or more) of her rat buddies that she came into our care with. The "Spice Rats" would love to find homes together! Rats need to have a nice spacious enclosure (about 2.5 square feet per rat) filled with toys, hammocks, and hiding holes. Get creative! There is a wonderful DIY community for rat enrichment. At meal times, you can provide them with their rat pellets, safe fruits, and veggies! Monitor their intake of sweet/fatty foods so they can stay fit, healthy and happy. They'd love to get out of the enclosure to get a good stretch! Just be sure to put up all the cords and other chewable items, as well as blocking off any potential hiding spots that you can't reach. You can set them up with different toys and mazes and watch them break a mental sweat! Rats are extremely intelligent and love to work out puzzles in exchange for tasty snacks. Mice are extremely social animals who need to be kept in pairs/groups. She loves her human companions, but having mice friends is essential to her well being. She must be adopted with one of her sisters, but ideally they would be adopted in a group of four. Mice are such social creatures that when their buddy passes away it's very hard for them to go on with life. For this reason it's best to keep female mice in groups! It's so much fun to watch a group of mice communicate, cuddle, and explore together. She has shown both social and fearful behaviors in some situations. It is important to give her time and patience to settle into her new home. Please be sure to respect her boundaries and let her warm up into handling. She enjoys running in her wheel and burrowing! Mice love to burrow and digging in their substrate is a really important behavior for them, so their cage needs a good size footprint of at least 65 x 45 cm / 25.6 x 17.7 inch, with a nice base tub to hold a thick layer of substrate. Mice also need to climb, so 40 cm / 15.7 inch is a good minimum height for a mouse cage. The bigger the better, but you will want to make sure the metal bars are close enough together that she could not slip out. Why this pet is the one for you:This precious baby boy is ready to start his new life! These ratties have grown up in a foster home, so they are pretty friendly. They are still shy in new situations, but we think they will warm up to their new homes quickly! Although rats adore their human companions, rats should never be housed alone. These babies will need to be adopting in pairs (or trios!) or to a home with resident male rats to be their companion. There's nothing cuter then two sleepy rats spooning peacefully in a fleece hammock! Rats need need at least 2.5 square feet of cage space (per rat), so check out https://ratcentral.com/rat-cage-calculator/ to see if your cage is spacious enough! In addition to a spacious home base these guys will need plenty of soft fleece hammocks, toys, activities, and daily time to explore outside of their cage to keep them busy!
