Bandit is another member of our “lowrider” club. This Basset Hound/Pitbull Terrier mix is as sweet as he is active.  He loves being with, and will be very loyal to “his people”.  This big boy would do best in a home with older children as he just doesn’t know his own strength.  He is playful and enjoys exercise and playtime.  If you’re a lover of the great outdoors or like to rack up those miles on your Fitbit, this is the guy for you.  However, as the sun sets and night-time approaches, this sweet boy is ready to snuggle. So be sure to have a bed and blanket ready! While Bandit LOVES his humans, he will do best as an only pet. As a side note, he tested positive for heartworms but has already received treatment.  He is on the road to recovery and won’t miss a beat. Billy Billy Billy Boy! He may be just the happiest Boxer there ever was. Exuberant, obedient, intelligent, outgoing, people friendly, enthusiastic, playful, toy fetching, dog napping, and clown like - that’s our Billy. He is housebroken and loves to sleep on the tiniest of beds. Why is that- big dogs and tiny beds- they tend to go together like bread and butter. He is his own best friend and finds humor in carrying the Bill Miller tea bucket by the handle and tossing it in the air. Billy is working on his manners as he tends to jump when he gets excited. Though incredibly devoted to their owners, Boxers can be headstrong. With appropriate training and positive reinforcement, they eventually figure it out. Billy simply needs a patient and smart owner as Boxers live for the approval of their people. And if you are looking to get outside, Billy loves to go on walks. He gets super excited when he sees his leash. With his athletic build, he makes a great running buddy as well. Boxers can even adapt to apartment living given enough exercise and mental stimulation. Billy originated from a local shelter with a terrible case of Demodex mange. He has been treated and now looks like a runway model. His slick white coat and curious brown eyes always have that goofy look and posture ...”ready when you are.” Boxers are kind hearted and amazing family dogs that typically do well with whoever the meet. Billy has made great progress in the few weeks we have had him and now is ready for his adoptive home. show less

Introducing Cate, Carter, and Caleb! This three-pack of adorable pups was taken in by a good Samaritan in Pleasanton. Found at just a few days old, he bottle-fed them until they were strong enough to eat on their own. Having had human contact from a very early age, these three are a super social and laid-back group. We took a big guess at their breed – Labrador/Hound mix. We believe this group will be medium sized – not too big, not too small – just right! They enjoy romping and playing as typical puppies do. Whether you’re the outdoorsy type, a world traveler or more of a chill personality, these impressionable pups will make perfect companions! My name is Chance but I was formerly known Thin Mint. I was at SNIPSA in December of 2019 but came back this week! I'm a super sweet dog and would absolutely love a big dog sibling to play with! I love playing with any toy I can get my paws on and just want to be loved. I'm a Labrador Retriever/ Basenji mix so I have some awesome traits besides being super cute! Known to be affectionate with family and overall just the friendliest dogs ever- we love kids, other dogs, and even strangers. We are highly intelligent- this makes us super easy to train. Well, Chester has become a SNIPSA staff favorite! If his handsomeness doesn’t melt your heart, his snuggling ways will. Having come from a foster home in Atascosa, he is already on the road to learning his manners.  He will need someone to pick up his training where they left off in order to reach his full potential as a loving family companion.  Boxers are smart, affectionate and have lots of energy. A yard and plenty of toys will go a long way to keep Chester busy.  Bonus points if you’re the athletic type - Chester will give you a run for your money!  But don’t worry.  After expending all that energy, Chester will make his way into your lap for some cuddle time.  If you’re looking to add a puppy to your home, this IS your guy.  Be sure to complete an application today! show less

This Beagle/Chihuahua mix wandered upon the doorsteps of a farmhouse in southern San Antonio during the winter storm of the century. He was quickly swept inside and kept warm and safe until the storm subsided. And that’s where SNIPSA steps in. After spending some time with Cole in the office, we quickly discovered what a great personality he has. He attaches quickly to his human and LOVES all the attention he can get – he will be a perfect companion dog. He is still getting used to the idea of being on a leash, but with his smarts and willingness to please, he’ll be strutting his stuff in no time at all! If you are looking for the NICEST MAMA in the world, look no more- Elaine is your gal. She is laid back, loving, welcoming to strangers, does well with other dogs, child friendly, quiet, and just has an all around great temperament. She arrived to SNIPSA with her four young pups and has raised them to be jolly plump girls. She has a hearty appetite and that love for food can motivate her to master obedience. Our best guess is that Elaine is a three-year old Shepherd Husky mix. She possesses many of the good traits of the Husky breed- intelligent, beautiful, doesn’t pester you for attention, does well in a multi dog home, eager to learn, and a people pleaser. As far as the Shepherd – Elaine will take on new people and circumstances with ease, loves the outdoors, and even a larger purpose like a job though not a deal breaker if she doesn’t get hired :) . She is content hanging out on her dog bed and basking in the sunshine. She is over the barking, digging, and chewing stage. Elaine is super in a crate and would most likely acclimate to both a small or a larger dwelling. Have we convinced you what a good girl she is? Hangin out, down the street, was a momma dog and her litter of puppies! Thankfully, we were able to get them into SNIPSA to find them forever homes. After weeks of being nursed by momma, these pups are ready to find their forever homes! Eric and Hyde are your typical all-around playful puppies. They spend their days running amuck in their foster’s backyard chasing each other around, diving in their water bowls, and just being straight up adorable! Remember, they are cute little puppies now, but will soon become medium to large size dogs and will need plenty of attention, exercise, and love everyday! Coming from a rural area south of San Antonio, the “K Litter” is happy to be here! When they first arrived to SNIPSA, they were bug-eyed, nervous, tails tucked…unsure of their new world. Never having been around humans before, it was understandable. But after a relaxing spa day of warm baths, nail trims, flea and tick removal, and an introduction to big fluffy dog beds, they are LOVING the pet life. The “K Litter” spends their days learning how fun toys can be, snoozing in the sun, and coming out of their shell. It might take a minute for their true personalities to show when you bring one home but after a few days of some patience, love, and routine, the playful and silly puppy personality will shine through!
