About CHICO

Arrooooo!!! Chico ain`t nothing but a hound dog, and we love that about him!Chico found himself at the shelter this past January due to housing restrictions. It was clearly scary for Chico because he spent the first few weeks being very afraid of every new person. But he has really started to come out of his shell these past few months! He loves his friends and is getting over his fear of new people (proper intros always recommended). Chico goes to playgroup but prefers a smaller group with only one or two other pups (a meet and greet is recommended if you have a dog at home).Chico recently went on a hike at a state park… it was so exciting for this hound dog to be surrounded by so many new smells! Chico trotted along, wagging his tail, checking in with his handler, just as happy as can be. This pup is an adventure buddy!Oh, and the most important thing - this boy LOVES toys! Any kind: ball, rope, stuffed, squeaky. Chico loves to play fetch with his toys, too. He knows he has to `drop it` before you can throw it again... such a smartie!Chico would do well in most home environments, although he is likely too much doggo for toddlers. Chico would love a family who wants to take him on walks, play fetch with him, and of course spoil him like he deserves! Chico will go home with a crate, goody bag of enrichment items & TOYS, ongoing support from the Orange Dot Crew (a volunteer advocacy group), and free training thanks to Friends of AAC.
