My name is Atta. I am a American Pitbull terrier. I have been at Animal Harbor for around 4 months now. I am going to be spayed soon and then I will be ready for my new family. The thing to know about me is that i do need a family who do not have any children. Quite honestly a home where there are no children is ideal for me. I am not tolerant of loud or obnoxious behavior. I love to chase a ball but bringing it back is not my specialty. I do love attention and running around in my run. However, I am not friendly with other dogs or cats. Carla was dumped at the high school and found by her foster mom. She is about 2 to 3 years old, loves to go for rides in the car, play with the other dogs, walks good on a leash an is great with children. She gets excited so we think older children would be good with her. She is negative heartworm, we are waiting for an appointment for spay, she will be spay before going to her forever home. We all have emotional scars, bumps, and bruises. Meet Denali who was surrendered to animal control, then pulled by Animal Harbor to exchange a life of previous owner neglect for one of bliss and happiness. Denali has a vivid scar around his muzzle, where we believe tape may have been placed to hush his bark. Why people take their anger and frustration out on innocent animals, we will never understand. What we do know is that pets have the ability to heal after trauma, just as Denali has. You would never know Denali has had a hard life before. Denali is a carefree boy with high energy. He absolutely loves toys and is one big goofball! Denali is working on his leash manners, but will need more hands on love, patience, and training in his new home. He would do well in a home with other high energy pets and older children who respect him. Denali is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped. Hello, my name is Dennis (the Menace), and contrary to my silly name, I am a good boy. I am a hound mix that had a hard knock life roaming on the streets of a rural TN mountain town. A very nice lady harbored me temporarily until Animal Harbor could take me in. Well, needless to say around Christmas time, I did earn my name when I drug Joseph from the nativity scene through the nice lady’s yard! Being at the shelter is very stressful to me. Outside of the shelter, I am mellow, love snuggles, and adore long walks outside sniffing the world around me. I really desire to be free, in a loving home, with a large fenced yard to play, then come in after a long day to be a couch potato. I would be a good fit for a family with older children or other pets to keep me company and stimulated. I am high energy and am always up for the next adventure. I am now shy and backwards. I am not fond of men and I would not be good with children. I will also chase and harm a cat. Henry is an 18 month old 55 pound Hound mix . Henry is crate and house trained and he has had all his vaccines and is neutered. Henry is very sweet ,goofy pup who just wants his own person. He knows a few basic commands and gets along great with other dogs. He’s still acts like a puppy and due to his goofiness Henry would not be good for small children as he would surely knock them over. He walks well on a leash and really just wants to be by your side and get all the love he deserves. show less

Meet Mauser! 3.5 years old (estimated) 62 pounds Spayed Female, fully vetted Beagle/Lab/Shepherd mix Mauser was abandoned at a campsite up in the mountains of East Tennessee. A good Samaritan found her, took her home, and tried to locate an owner. Due to not having an animal shelter in her county, the finder agreed to place Mauser with our rescue while we did some searching. After some digging and microchip tracing, the long story ended with Mauser being signed over to rescue by her original owner. We are now on the hunt to find Mauser the most fantastic family she deserves! Mauser is such a funny girl. She definitely has some hound mixed in, as she catches scents and pays no attention to anything else (haha). She loves to run around in the backyard, and will play-wrestle with her foster mom (she is gentle, but does like to jump around). She does not seem interested in many toys, unless it is to get rid of that terrible squeaker! She wants to play with other low-key dogs her size (please no strong-willed, alpha-type dogs for her). Due to her high prey drive, she needs a no-cat, no small-animal household. We also recommend kids over the age of 12 as she is not a fan of little ones screaming and is not a big fan of being constrained. She is crate trained and kennel trained (keeps her areas squeaky clean, like a lady should). We will require a securely fenced in yard to keep her wandering hound-nose safe (no radio collars or short chain-link fencing). She likes to bird watch and will keep your yard bird and squirrel-free! She would really love to go on long hikes, daily walking adventures, and she LOVES car rides. She could be your very best ride-or-die, life-long companion! If the other human companions in life have let you down, Mauser would like to apply to fill in their shoes! Could you be the family Mauser would like to call her own? Rusty is very friendly athletic dog, redbone hound mix. 1-3 years old, heartworm test was negative. He was found running with a couple buddies, and the rescuers knew they would be shot, so they grabbed them, they kept the other two. He’s very sweet and good natured. He needs 6’ fence due to his athletic abilities. He is on heartworm and flea and tick prevention. He’s good on the leash, rides good in car. Rusty crate training is going really well. He weighs about 55 pounds. A bit thin and lean figure. Good with kids and other dogs, not sure about cats. He will be neutered get up to dat vaccines and microchipped before going to his forever home. Tracker is a two and a half-year-old medium sized mixed breed dog with such a fight to survive and overcome his past. Surrender to the local animal shelter by no fault of his own, Tracker was alone and very scared. Animal control officer Heather was smitten by Tracker, and very unfortunately Tracker was positive for heartworm disease. Knowing the prognosis for Tracker at animal control wouldn’t be good, Heather asked for Animal Harbor’s help to provide him the treatment he desperately needed. We also fell in love with Tracker, and along with the help of many generous donors, we were able to have Tracker treated for heartworm disease. Fast forward eight long months of treatment, Tracker is finally heartworm free and beyond ready to find his forever home, far far away from the shelter. Tracker would do well with a two member family or a family that has older children. We would love for Tracker to go into a single pet home so he can make up for lost time and be the center of attention for many years to come!
