About Nushka
Nushka's name means âPrecious Possessionâ, and he certainly is precious. Heâs a very sweet, athletic, independent lynx-point boy, roughly 2 1/2 years old. Heâs not a lap cat, but does love attention. Heâs a big boy (13 lbs) with a small but persistent purr. Once he trusts you, he will roll over and ask for belly rubs, but he'll let you know when he's had enough by giving a small nip. Nushka is happiest spending time up on his cat tree, surveying the birds, squirrels, and clouds. Heâs a bit of an escape artist, so make sure you know where he is when you open doors to the outside. When heâs prowling the house, heâll sometimes cruise across tables (dining, coffee, etc.), but doesnât rest on them. His previous family has supplied him with several electronic toys, but until heâs really comfortable, he wonât show much interest in them. They trained him to sit for treats, and heâll usually oblige. Nushka uses his scratching pad, but will also occasionally scratch furniture. He needs a high-sided or covered litter box, because he kicks his litter around quite vigorously. He is patient with being combed, but requires a second person to hold him while clipping his claws. Nushka previously lived with two cats and is currently sharing his foster home with an older female cat and a senior dog, but he is best suited to live as an only pet, and cannot live with birds or small mammals He will probably be happiest in an adults-only home, but might be good with children over 10. If you would like to add this handsome, blue-eyed fellow to your household, email jennyv@fcacc.org to obtain an adoption application. Nushka has been neutered, FeLV/FIV tested negative, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee of $95 helps support Friends of Chicago Animal Care & Control in their mission to save Chicago's neediest animals.
