Anakin von Aach is a gorgeous 2 year old German Shepherd. Anakin is another dog from a more rural area who isn't too sure about life in a busy city kennel. He'd love to find a calmer adults only home away from all the hubbub. Anakin needs some time to adjust to new people and situations. He can be hand shy at first but off-leash he is calmer and more social. He's working with our professional trainer but he will still need a skilled handler who will help him feel more comfortable on leash. When it comes to his interactions with other canines, he meets them well but they don't hold his interest - and he does better with easygoing ones. He enters the play yard calmly, meets everyone well, avoids problems, and appears more relaxed and happy off-leash. Anakin would be so grateful if you would give him a chance. She's another girl from a rural area who is adjusting to a new kind of life. While she appears shy and a bit timid at first, once she gets comfortable she will quietly come up to you, and she can bond quickly with her chosen person once in a home. Annabella is looking for a calm adult home that gives her time to adjust and also sets the rules. She is housebroken and enjoys a game of fetch. Axel von Apolda is a very handsome 2 year old Shepherd mix. Axel started his journey to Westside not knowing what life was really about. He previously lived in a rural area where we suspect he was not exposed to many people or different situations. Our professional trainer is working with this special boy who needs an equally special owner -- one who is experienced with dogs, as well as calm and matter-of-fact versus sentimental or overly-affectionate -- one who will continue Axel's transformation, together with some complementary training that Westside will provide in his new adults-only home. Axel has come so far. He now starts his day calmly and happily when he leaves his kennel. His leash manners, with just a little reminder, are great and he takes in all the smells of his new life as he walks down the street. Axel enjoys playgroups and interacts with all the dogs. He gravitates to the calmer dogs who match his personality and even enjoys playing with them. Those over-the-top ones, he avoids. At our rescue facility Axel has become an affectionate boy with the staff. He needs a little time to become comfortable with new people, so he needs someone willing to be patient with his progress. Axel will be so grateful for a confident owner whom he can trust to expose him to new experiences in life. Blue von Bexbach is a gorgeous 9 month old Husky mixed with white Teddy Bear. His baby blues and rounded ears make you want to scoop him up for a cuddle, easy to do considering his smaller size of 30 pounds. Cute and sweet, Blue likes you giving him head and belly rubs, and will lean on you for attention if you wait too long. Just seeing you starts his tail wagging and his face smiling. Our mid-energy guy walks well in a pack of dogs, responding quickly to any needed corrections, and growling if another dog gets too close. We are working to socialize Blue more around other dogs; for now, he should be the only fur-ball in your home. Blue has a condition called mega-esophagus, readily managed by having him eat and drink in an upright position using a Bailey chair – kind of a high chair for dogs (the rescue can provide this chair). He enthusiastically puts himself in it, standing with his paws on the tray, waiting to be served. Think of how perfect he’ll look at the end of your bed or in the back of your car! Bravo von Berlin is a beautiful 2-3 year old smaller sized German Shepherd. He is a calmer boy in our kennel setting, he settles in nicely on walks, and he walks well with other dogs and does not pull on leash. Bravo’s presence of mind requires a calm and confident owner; and the rewards will be infinite, as he will respect and treasure your bond - he can be very loving with his people. In playgroups, he enjoys meeting other calm canine friends, surveying the atmosphere, and returning to greet people. The kennel staff remark how he always has a smile on his face. He even knows his basic commands, and he is housebroken and crate trained. He would really enjoy a task or a goal. He wants to show you he can accomplish anything with the right structure. Although he generally does okay around dogs, he does not appreciate certain males, and needs a cat free home. Bravo is looking for his better half, one who will form a partnership based on honor, structure, and admiration. Brooklyn von Berching is beautiful 3 year old German Shepherd. Brooklyn is absolutely stunning, smart and sweet….with her humans. She rubs up against her people and can be very engaging. Although Brooklyn is able to walk okay around other dogs with proper handling, she does have that female "in charge" trait and prefers to be your one and only (and she's a no for cats). She is excited when exiting her kennel and has an air of confidence. Her leash manners/training will need to be continued. She is, however, happy to give and receive affection from her handler. Brooklyn has German Shepherd loyalty, intelligence and confidence, but does need someone experienced to make sure those qualities are fine-tuned to make her a great companion. He is generally sweet with people, enjoying hanging out with you and asking for all your attention (no young children please). Around other dogs suave Bruno Mars is definitely a ladies man. He meets female dogs both on and off leash with a wagging tail, but can stiffen up around other males. When he's admonished, he just walks away from them...and then comes up to people. Bryce von Baunatal is a beautiful, 6-7 year-old German Shepherd. Bryce has the eyes of an angel and the heart of a saint. To Bryce, age is just a number and does not identify his energy and ability -- Bryce defies those stereotypes. He's a happy boy with bursts of enthusiasm, especially when he knows he’s about to go for a walk. This goofy boy may pull on leash but will settle in to a nice trot alongside you. Bryce does well in playgroups; he socializes with staff and other dogs, and enjoys exploring the play yard. He is not a fan of pushy pups, so will do best with friendly canine pals. Medium-energy Chewy enjoys his walks and is quite observant, always keeping an eye on what or who may be ahead. He is apprehensive towards unfamiliar people and surroundings, and will do best with a shepherd-experienced owner who can introduce him to new faces and friends both slowly and cautiously. With patience, Chewy becomes an easygoing, well-behaved boy who can be very sweet with those he knows, eating up any affection you’ll give him.
