About Tinsel

Hi, I’m Tinsel and my love for my humans shines as bright as my name. I am the ideal blend of active and mellow. I love my toys and I can entertain myself with them for hours. I think I could even make a good jogging buddy, but my absolute favorite spot in the world is quietly cuddled in your lap and enjoying your company. I am young and still working on training; I love my treats so I am very eager to learn. I make the cutest little snorts when I eat them too! I do prefer to eat in my crate with no other  dogs  around, as I am not a fan of sharing my treats or kibble, but I am working on it! I am house trained, crate trained, I know sit, and my foster mom tells me that my “stay” is getting better every day. I am a bit shy when meeting new people and I often need some time to warm up, for this reason I'd prefer to live in an adult only home. Once I come out of my shell, I have so much love to give. I have a tendency to get anxious when you’re not around so I would do best in a household where someone is home most of the time. I adore my doggy foster sister and I want to be just like her.  I would do best in a home with another confident doggy friend who can play with me, keep me company and help me blossom into the self-assured pup I know I can be. While I am working on improving my relationship with my cat siblings, at this time, I would be happiest in a home with no cats. I am truly such a happy girl and I would love nothing more than to go home with you.   Age: 1 year How I came to PAWS: Found stray Animal ID#: 48898 Weight: 40lbs Mixed breed (It’s impossible to identify breed mix by sight alone, so for most dogs, their mix is only a guess.  For all of the introverts at every party, tucked away in your corner waiting for your friends to arrive before getting that little hop in your step, allow us to present to you Awkward Biscuit! This deceptively suave gentleman loves making happy little biscuits when his buddies come around, so if you're looking for a steady companion that just wants party with you at home this is the friend for you (and no, he won't take off his coat and get comfortable. he can't, it's his fur). Awkward Biscuit is FIV+, which doesn't require any extra medications or treatment. Since it does mean his immune system is weaker, he would just do best in a home that matches his personality (to keep his stress low) and should get regular bloodwork with his yearly vet check-ups.  Basil is the perfect garnish for anyone looking to add a little playfulness and cuddling to their lives! He was originally adopted from PAWS a few years ago as a teen kitten and returned for being a little too active before being adopted out again shortly thereafter, but was recently found as a stray when he wandered into a colony. They say the third times the charm, and we don't know many more charming then this affectionate chap! He is definitely not a fan of other animals, and since he can get a little overstimulated during play he probably wouldn't do well around young kids.  Age: 4-6 years old How I came to PAWS: Found Stray/Abandoned Animal ID#: A29417 Location: PAWS' Grays Ferry clinic.  Sweet Bella, the perfect country gal name for her sad country song backstory. Bella was surrendered when her owners could no longer afford her medical care (her former momma did everything she could before making that hard decision), so she'll just need her new family to be able to take that on, but promise she'll reward you everyday with her affectionate demeanor. She just has a skin condition, possibly allergies, and would just need continued care at a full service vet after adoption and possibly a special diet.  Blimpie barely needs any words to describe him, as they would all fail to do justice to his perfection! Found stray back in October, he was originally adopted from ACCT and returned the same day because his adopter didn't clear it with mom first (that is like...rule number 1). Friendly, cuddly, playful, and chatty, it's like someone just clicked all of the boxes when making him!   *Blimpie has tested positive for feline leukemia virus (FeLV), which causes a weakened immune system.  FeLV cats have shorter lifespans than other kitties, but don't  require medication or daily treatment. With a caring home and attentive person who can catch any early signs of illness, FeLV cats will live perfectly normal, happy lives. Only cats can catch  FeLV , so they are able to live with other species (or other cats who are  FeLV  positive).  Staff will be happy to tell you more about FeLV if you have any questions at all!* **He is also being treated for ringworm, which is a fungal infection, and will need to have that treatment continued by his adoptive family (PAWS will help provide that care at our clinic and what you'll need to use at home as well).  That's not an earthquake, that is Butter's purrs! This petite, bouncy, special needs kitten is a sweet hearted starlet who loves playtime and attention! She is very social with humans, and loves to follow them from room to room. Her favorite snuggle pose is the "floating otter" snuggle, where she lies on her back and stretches out along your leg. Butter previously lived in a foster home with cats, and she wants an animal friend to keep her company, as long as they respect her space (her limited vision can make her nervous when meeting animal friends who are too rough with her). She loves pouncing on toys and climbing tall cat trees, and she is safe in doing so, despite her visual impairment. Butter would love to join a home with adults-only or older children who will be gentle with her. SPECIAL NEEDS: LIMITED VISION. Butter came to PAWS with a terrible eye infection and eye ulcers. Luckily, PAWS was able to stabilize her eyes, but they will always have a cloudy appearance, meaning Butter cannot see as well as a normal kitty. This does not get Butter down at all, as she gets around easily, uses the litter box well, and is a nearly normal kitten! An ideal adopter for Butter is one that loves her despite her special needs, and who is financially comfortable if any further eye issues arise as she ages.  Coraline is an absolute doll and would love to make your pet-free fantasy world a cat filled reality! She's a rambunctious and chatty young lady, so she'd do best in a home with a little more room to roam and someone able to help burn off some of her extra energy (so no studio apartments or light sleepers).  Born to a feral mother in someone's backyard, what can be more rockstar of a start than that? Freddie Mercury is ready to sing his praises to the lucky person looking to be his best friend that is also able to manage the rest of his career as a your personal mewsician, so we're happy to do our part in trying to find him somebody to love! This sweet and affectionate lad was born to love you! **Freddie is currently being treated for ringworm and will need to have that treatment continued in his adoptive home (PAWS will be able to provide some of that, you will just need to be available to make as many trips as needed back to the clinic during prearranged hours as well as providing that at home). He is also only available for adoption under our Pre-Adopt Program since he can't be neutered until his ringworm is officially cleared. That program is just an extra approval beyond the normal application approval process. Please feel free to email us any questions!**  Age: 2-4 months old How I came to PAWS: Found Stray Animal ID#: A48973 Location: PAWS' Grays Ferry clinic.   Gilligan is steering his way straight to your heart! With his goofy grin and gregarious personality, it's hard to believe Gilligan was found on the city streets. He's an older guy that's bouncy and playful, full of energy and enthusiasm. Gilligan enjoys morning jogs and outdoor adventures, but also knows how to settle down for relaxed couch time at the end of a fun day. Gilligan will be a great fit for a dog-experienced household that enjoys staying active and having fun as much as he does!  Why, we do believe there is gold in them darn purrs! Our Gold Dust is about to cause a rush out west (well, southwest Philly to be precise) with those sparkling eyes and the treasure trove of perfection he truly is! While he was found stray, Gold Dust is definitely used to the comforts of home and could potentially live around other cats, dogs, and kids if given the chance and proper intro! He is more reserved and not a fan or being here in the shelter, but during the brief time he got to spend with his finder before coming back to PAWS he was much more outgoing, playful, and affectionate!  Happy Heidi is a spirited gal! Young at heart and full of pep, Heidi loves to play with her mice toys, sunbathe for hours, and birdwatch.  Heidi is a high spirited kitty ready for a forever home for the holidays. She's also a great cuddle companion! Heidi is a confident gal and would love to be the only kitty in her new family. We aren't sure how she feels about dogs yet.  This active girl can get a bit overstimulated, so she would love a family who is knowledgeable about feisty cat behaviors. If you can be patient with her and give her a chance to shine, we know you'll fall in love with her sassy, affectionate self!  Age: ~8 years old  How I came to PAWS: Surrendered to the local Philly shelter after 8 years with the same family due to a few middle-aged lady aches and pains. Thankfully, she's feeling great again now!   Animal ID#: 48386 I am not at the shelter.
