She is a pretty mellow girl that likes to perch on the cat tree and bask in the sun or curl up beside her foster mom while she watches TV or takes a nap.  Allegra is a bit shy when she meets new people but she is not a skittish girl...unless you move the vacuum cleaner too close to her.  She takes a little bit of time to warm up to new people but once you earn her trust she will be your best friend. The fastest way to Allegra's heart is through her tummy - she loves to eat wet food and yummy treats like shredded chicken.  If you want a friendly, loving kitty that likes attention but is not too needy, Allegra is your girl!  Allegra would be happiest in a single-pet household. DOB: 9/10/20 Andrew Curtis must be adopted with his brother, Stephen.  They are a bonded pair. Andrew Curtis and his brother, Stephen, are a pair of big, cute, ginger boys.  Larger than kittens of their age, you could really tell their solid physique when you pick them up to cuddle.  They both have beautiful, round golden eyes that watch you intently when you come into their field of vision.  These boys love their food, treats, toys and wrestling with each other.  They will come running when they hear the meal is being served (if no free feeding) and shaking of the treat bags.  These boys are on the quiet side because they don’t meow but only trill softly.  They are also purring monsters the moment you touch them.  Andrew Curtis and Stephen were trapped around three-month old, a little later than the typical kittens destined to become human companions.  However, Andrew Curtis is so friendly, his trapper thought he would do well being adopted into a loving home.  Stephen is a little shyer.  He may still let out a little grow when he is startled, but he never followed up with any aggression beyond that.  As a matter of fact, Stephen is the gentler of the two with your finger when getting treats!  At night both boys are now sleeping on foster mom’s bed.  Sometimes they will even snuggle their foster mom voluntarily.  These boys will do better with experienced cat parents who could continue to provide socialization reinforcement, especially for Stephen to help him shed his shell completely!    If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent.If you are unable to send an email to the foster parent through the link included above, please contact us and let us know what kitty you're interested in.  You may also fill out our adoption questionnaire to speed up the screening process.  Be sure to name the cat in the CAT PREFERENCE field at the beginning of the questionnaire. She likes to explore drawers, closets, is interested in whatever you are doing (she especially likes to help put things away!) and loves to play.  She has even demonstrated an ability to fetch! Annabelle is a fearless, active, loving kitty. If you have a quiet home and lots of collectibles on the shelves, then Annabelle is probably not the right fit for you. Annabelle  enjoys playing with well mannered, cat savvy children and seems more curious about dogs than afraid of them. DOB: 10/15/19 My name is Baby and I was found in the bushes with a litter of 7 kittens.  I was a wonderful mama to my babies, even though I'm really still a baby myself.  The whole ordeal was a little traumatic for me, and I'm so happy to be safely indoors again.  I'm super sweet, loving and playful once I get to know you.  But at the first meeting, I can be a little afraid and a little shy.  Please give me a chance to be your little 'baby' because I deserve a safe and loving family.  I can be an only cat, or get along with another kitty, but I don't know how I feel about dogs.  Because I'm so shy in the beginning, I might do best with a family with no young children. But they also have their independent streaks and will each do their own thing at times.  They are a little shy when they meet new people because they were born during this pandemic and have not been exposed to many people. But they are won over pretty easily if you have tasty treats. DOB: 8/28/17 Characteristics: Benji is an amazing, especially sweet, friendly, very affectionate cat in the prime of life. He is very curious yet calm, and smart.  Anyone lucky enough to make Benji part of his or her family will be blessed with a loving and devoted companion.  To Benji, there is nothing better than following you from room to room.  He is also quick to play, jump, catch or fetch toy mice in the air, snuggle, purr when you pet him, stretch, and sleep near his family.  Occasionally, Benji will even engage you in a good conversation, especially when it’s time to eat or get a treat. He is very food-motivated and easily trained. He always uses the litter box, every time. He always scratches the scratching pad or the cat condos, and never scratches the furniture. He enjoys being on his owner’s chest, laying across your legs, on your lap, or spooning with his back against your torso. He’s one of the best cats I’ve fostered! Appearance: Benji has very beautiful markings. He has a gorgeous, soft coat of fur, and he’s very good at grooming himself. His wide Tabby stripes look a lot like a Bengal (more like large spots than stripes.) He has a white neck and chest, and 4 large white paws. And then, there are his eyes -- his expressive, yellow eyes.  They are gorgeous and shine with all the great warmth and love Benji has to give. His story: In late August when Benji was caught as a stray by a rescue group, he was taken to a shelter where he was inspected for a microchip and screened for feline diseases. He didn’t have a microchip, and his owner couldn’t be reached, so he got his chip at the shelter. Benji was diagnosed as FIV+. Please do a Google search to understand what that means for Benji. He was almost euthanized, but luckily someone spoke up and said that Kitten Rescue would find him a forever home in spite of his diagnosis. Sure enough, Kitten Rescue rescued him from the shelter, and he was brought to the KR Sanctuary. He ignored most of the cats there but he didn’t get along with a couple of cats, so he was placed with a foster mom (me) in November. Placement: It is time to give Benji a wonderful, forever home he so richly deserves.  That home must not include another cat, dog, or kids. The ONLY scenario for Benji would be to be the only pet in the family, and the center of attention. DOB: 1/10/2009 Hi!  I'm Brody and I'm an amazing cat!  Yes, I'm a senior citizen, but I'm still very active, playful and I'm very affectionate.  In fact, my foster mom says I'm quite a character!  I'm sort of like a dog, because I come running when you call me, I greet you at the door, and I beg for food!  I was rescued off the street when my previous owners moved away and kicked me outside, where I became very sick and almost died.  After several months of vet care and a special diet, I am now healthy and ready to be a 'special' companion to a very special human.  I hate dogs and I'm okay with other cats, as long as they're not aggressive or territorial, because I like to be the 'alpha' male of the house.  Everyone who meets me falls in love with me! DOB: 5/15/20 Cedar is adorable!  He is so loving that he will continue to head butt your hand until you give him the loving that he so richly deserves!  Cedar can be shy at first.  He is a sensitive guy and changes rock his world for a bit. But once he knows he can trust you he will show you how super attentive he can be.  He is soft and has the biggest puddy tat eyes! He deserves to be loved and pampered for his whole life!  Cedar is better in an adult household because little ones are unpredictable to him and may cause him to retreat.  Cedar is great with other cats and has a few buddies at the Adoption Center where he lives. DOB: 8/1/20Chewy & Leia were both rescued from a colony in Downey, CA with their two other sisters at around 3 months old. They are a bonded pair that get along great with each other and I would like to find a home to take both of them together.  Of all the siblings, Chewy was the easiest to socialize and quickly took to being around and getting love and cuddles from his foster daddy. He is a sweet and loving baby that enjoys being cradled and given attention and will make a wonderful addition to any home. DOB: 11/14/12 Look at that sweet face & those sad eyes! Coop (born in November 2012) is actually a happy fellow. He loves to play chase with the other kitties running thru the house with glee. His favorite toys are the Star Chaser and the Undercover Mouse - he seems to love toys that go around & around. Coop is also fascinated by TV & likes to sit on the arm of the sofa watching it (does not seem to have a show that he favors). He also loves to watch the moths flying against the window at night. He meows at them but I am not sure what he is saying. As you can see, Coop is a handsome Turkish Van mix. His fur is short & sleek - very soft. His eyes are a stunning light blue green. Coop was rescued from a home with too many animals. He has been around dogs. He is a sweet, low-key kitty looking for a loving family with another cat that will play with him. DOB: 3/29/20 Corsica and his 6 siblings were found in an abandoned house and a good Samaritan brought the family to us.  Like all kittens, Corsica loves to play and wrestle with his siblings, and cause lots of mischief!  He also loves playing with his toys and having fun with humans.  He is the more cautious kitten of the bunch, but is very curious and once he gets to know you he’ll enjoy spending time on your lap and playing.  He is a climber and likes to hang out in high places.  The family is very bonded so Corsica needs to be adopted either with his mama (Capri) or his sibling (Crete) or both!  To see more of Corsica, you can tune in to our livestream at the kitten nursery at https://explore.org/livecams/kitten-rescue/kitten-rescue-cam. DOB:  6/19/12 Dakota is a chill dude with a short, crooked tail.  He likes to hang out and observe his environment,  but he always down for playing with any type of string toy. Dakota tolerates brushing and petting to an extent, being more on the independent side vs. wanting to glue himself to a human. Dakota's ideal person would have some experience with cats and would give him a chance to relax into his environment.  Though we haven't seen him get involved in mutual grooming sessions, he does get along with most cats and could do well in a home where he was the only kitty or could share the space with other cat tolerant cats.
