About Mileena
Mileena ACCT-A-81339 Intake: Stray. APO Pick Up Age: 4Y Sex: Female Altered: No Personality: Poor Mileena has been through a lot! This kind, gentle girl was found in a dog crate in an empty apartment, and is understandably very nervous and confused here at the shelter. Terrified at first, Mileena anxiety has already improved greatly! But what she needs most of all is a loving fur-ever home, with a caring family who will be patient while she gets used to her new environment. Can you help this beautiful pup? Medical Observation: 12/21 (Vet Check)-- Patient remains very anxious in kennel. She is staying on bed, whale eyeing, and low growling. Was able to coax off bed to accept a treat which is an improvement from yesterday but not enough to removal from kennel. Will continue to re-attempt. 12/20 (Vet Check)-- Patient is too nervous to be removed from kennel for examination of ears. Starting course of trazodone and reattempt daily. 12/19 (Intake Exam)-- Eyes - Irritated around eye Ears - Possibly infected; dirty - was cleaned Behavior Observation: 12/22 (Per Foster Staff)--Kennel Presentation--Nervous. Came to kennel door when I approached, ears back but gave small tail wag. She is very food motivated so will approach if offered treats. Took treats politely through kennel door. Sniffed my hand and leash nicely, but dodges/backs away from leash. Eventually was able to loop her and she exited on her own. On return she stepped right into the kennel and I removed the leash easily. Leash Skills--Pulls Minimally On Leash. Walked with tail tucked initially, after some time out of kennel walked confidently with tail high, minimal pulling on leash. Handleability--Loose/Allows all handling. I offered her treats and she would approach every time, giving small tail wags. She initially was tense but still allowed handling. Allowed petting all over. Doesn't solicit much attention at first but will come to you if you call to her. After spending half an hour with her in the office, she loosened up considerably and solicited lots of attention by leaning against me, wagging her tail and laying her head on my arm or lap. She then spent almost an hour napping on a bed in the office. Go slow, needs time to warm up to people after leaving kennel but then is friendly and social. Tag--Did not attempt. Toys--No interest. Very food motivated, ignored toys. Color Level--Blue. TTA. Sweet girl, very nervous in kennel and difficult to remove from kennel. Does very well once she is out. 12/20 (Per Vet)-- Tense, hard barking, whale eyeing with dilated pupils, piloerection and refusing to come to door 12/19 (Per APO)-- dog showed Scared but to Be safe from dog we still used control stick on dog while leaving apartment dog had urine all over carpet by elevator, was able to bring her to truck and able to get in truck. As i took picture of dog she show simple command like sit or lay down looks healthy This animal is currently available from foster care through ACCT Philly's Adoptions Programs.
