Maybe he's so joyful now because he knows what it means to be homeless. Maybe he simply came into this world with a stellar temperament. All we know is that, ever since we pulled him from our local animal control, our sweet Barisic is one happy cat! Barisic is gentle, good natured, and easy going. He lives in a foster home with a school age child, so we can guarantee that Barisic will be your perfect family pet. He'll wait patiently as you drink your first cup of morning coffee, and greet you at the door after a long day. Yours, not his! We suspect he'd even tolerate wearing antlers for your annual holiday card! Barisic is positive for both FeLV and FIV. That's the risk we humans impose on cats who are allowed outdoors, or worse, who are abandoned outside altogether. But Barisic is grateful for the life he has now, and we're confident that he plans to enjoy it as long as possible! We don't know what the future holds for Barisic. Cats who are FeLV positive can remain asymptomatic for many years. What we do know is that giving a home to a cat like Barisic will earn you a place in this wonderful cat's heart. Beautiful Bouncy is a sweet and friendly calico, just like her adoptive sister Mia. The two cats have lived together for several years, and we plan to place them together. Bouncy and Mia were living together when their owner moved and left them behind. CCR was alerted by the landlord that these girls were in need of a new loving home, and we couldn't help but scoop them up. These girls have come to us front paw declawed. The girls play a little together, but more on their own; they love to bunny kick cat nip kickers, sit in little boxes and cubes, run after laser beams or play with ribbon toys. After the lights go out, the girls can often be heard hunting their toys, and carrying their prey around as a trophy. Bouncy loves to sit next to you on the couch once she warms up to you. They are friendly and interested in new people and visitors. Bouncy sometimes sleeps at the foot of her foster moms bed, but often in her favorite chair. The girls are low key, just always around, napping where it's warm. Buster, a young, sweet and photogenic boy! Buster is bonded with his brother (from another mother) Mica. They are two peas in a pod, the perfect companions, they spend their days grooming each other and watching traffic wiz by out the window. Buster makes the perfect furry headrest and can often be found sitting on the couch cushion behind his foster moms head. Honey and her son, Charlie, are former strays who were taken in by a kind older woman. She gave them a loving home for many years, but she was no longer able to care for them. Her family left them alone with minimal human interaction for several months and planned on turning them out on the street. Thankfully, a compassionate neighbor ensured that they were fed and reached out to Chicago Cat Rescue for help. Honey and Charlie were pretty traumatized when they arrived at their foster home, but with a lot of love and patience, their awesome personalities re-emerged. The have so much love to give and are ready for their forever home. They are a bonded pair: Charlie is very attached to Honey and will cry for her and look for her if he doesn’t know where she is. They regularly check in with each other by head butting and rubbing cheeks with one another. Honey is a teeny-tiny 10-year-old lady with the softest fur. She loves eating, climbing, being brushed, and playing with toys. She is very affectionate and will tap you with her paw when she wants more pets. She will give a high five for treats indefinitely. When you lie down, she enjoys laying close to you and may climb onto your lap or chest if the mood strikes. Charlie is a chonky boy and a bit of a clown! He’s approximately 9-years-old and still plays like a kitten. He loves butt pats, being brushed, eating, re-arranging furniture, and using his scratching posts. If you want his attention, baby talk brings him running. He also likes being sung to! Charlie head butts to show affection, and given his considerable bulk, he’s not to be ignored. Charlie isn’t a lap cat, but he loves being close to you and will follow you around. Charlie will eat just about anything. He definitely isn’t a fussy kitty! This girl is not shy, even though she's had a bit of a rough past, she is excited to explore her new home right away. Black Cat Fact! Did you know: If your black cat has a tabby stripe gene and loves to spend his days lounging in the sun, his fur can turn a rusty brown color. Why? The sun’s rays break down the pigment in their fur to reveal the underlying tabby stripes. Black Cats are so interesting, right!? Our Hot Rod is a lover and a lap cat, he loves to be by people. Loves to cuddle and have one paw on you at all times (awww). Hot rod is a chatty guy, he will meow to say hi and purr to thank you! One of his cutest quirks is his love for buttons, so you'll probably have to rearrange your wardrobe so you're wearing a few buttons everyday! Hot Rod is a chill guy, he could be good with other cats, but we are not sure. Hot Rod is between 10-12 years of age, he would do best in a calm home where he can relax and lounge. We absolutely do not condone declawing a cat (as it is very painful and unnecessary for them), but Hot Rod did make his way to us as a front declawed cat. Junebug is shy and affectionate. She was rescued by CCR when she was less than 3 months old. She had a wound on her neck that appeared to be the result of a cigarette burn. We can’t imagine why anyone would perpetrate such a horrific act on any animal.  And yet, Junebug has remained the sweetest, most loving of kittens. She can be a bit shy at first but once she trust you its like magic, she will open up like a book. She will trust you 100%, let you touch her belly, paws or tail, which many cats can be particular about. She gives so much of herself; she is affectionate, playful, and loves to follow and imitate her sister Dandelion. Junebug climbs on the bed and likes to sleep under the blanket. She likes to give kisses to show her affection. Foster mom says "Person that gets these two cats will be blessed. They are a great team, and super funny to watch them play together." Meet Mica, THE ultimate cat! This boy has it all! He is affectionate and snuggly...a real "meet you at the door" kind of cat. He loves LOVES being held and carried. Did you forget to pick him up? No problem, he will leap onto your shoulders all on his own, thanks. He's an extremely tolerant cat, which would make him a great family cat. He gets along amazingly with other cats too! Being a young male, he will need to be with at least one other young male...someone to match his young male energy and play drive. We would prefer he stays with his current foster brother Buster. Mighty Mouse, is very social, he loves people and everyone loves him! He also loves all critters, but mostly his sister Olive. They chase each other around 24/7 and when they need a break they cuddle together. Mighty Mouse never hisses or gets upset, he is a very chill dude. He just sits and purrs in his carrier in the car. This spunky little guy is food motivated and will eat anything! He loves wand toys, snuggling, chirping and chatting with his owners and keeping his bum warm on the radiator cover. His foster mom says "he is the best cat to every exist". You don't need to take our word for it, he can be yours! Though, fair warning as part of the contract you must agree to hold him like a baby.
