About Daisy

Daisy is a sweet, beautiful, loyal and misunderstood, eight-year-old, 90-pound, female, fawn South African Boerboel Mastiff with a long tail looking for a dog-loving guardian. Daisy was found stray in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood in August of 2017 and was taken in by the Famous Fido shelter where she has been for over three years. She looks like she had been bred in the past, but she is now spayed. She is nervous around new people and accepts women quicker than men. If someone would give her a chance, they will find an incredibly loyal companion. But this will take time and patience. She doesn’t respond to commands, but she takes treats gently and appreciatively from your fingers. We think she’d do best as the one and only dog in the home, or possibly with a large male with an experienced handler. She is healthy, spayed, vaccinated, heartworm-tested and microchipped. Her adoption fee of $250 benefits the Famous Fido Rescue. To meet and possibly adopt Daisy, please fill out the application for adoption at https://famousfidorescue.org/dog-adoption-application/ And follow up on your application by e-mailing Tina at tinasells@yahoo.com to set up an appointment to meet Daisy. She is currently at the Famous Fido Shelter at 3124 W. Irving Park in Chicago, Illinois. After three years it’s time for Daisy to finally find her loving home.

Ava is a beautiful, sweet, playful, and gentle two-year-old brown tabby cat with golden/green eyes looking for a loving guardian. Ava came to Friends of Petraits Rescue when she was pregnant, stray, covered with fleas and full of worms. She gave birth to four amazingly healthy kittens who have since found fantastic homes. She even lovingly accepted and nursed a bonus kitten whose mom couldn’t care for him. This girl has finally learned to appreciate some me time. She plays, snuggles and loves to be brushed. She is living in a foster home where she tolerates two small dogs and another cat. We think she’d be just fine as the only pet or with one gentle-natured feline. And, probably best with gentle teens and adults who don’t mind waiting for her personality to unfold. She is now extremely healthy, spayed, de-wormed, de-flead, vaccinated for distemper and rabies, virus-tested negative and micro-chipped. To meet and possibly adopt this beautiful girl, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-cat-adoption-application/ After the application is complete, please contact friendsofpetraits@gmail.com to schedule an appointment to meet her. Her adoption fee of $150 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits Rescue. She is currently being fostered in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood. show less

Bean is a adorable six-month-old, tan and chocolate-colored male guinea pig looking for a loving guardian. Bean came to Friends of Petraits Rescue as an only guinea pig, but he may enjoy the companionship of another guinea pig. He enjoys communicating with the other guinea pigs at the rescue through the bars of his habitat. Guinea pigs eat a diet of unlimited Timothy and Orchard hays; a handful of guinea pig pellets, and fresh vegetables including romaine, red leaf and green leaf lettuces, cilantro, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, etc. Guinea pigs, just like humans, can’t manufacture their own vitamin C, so they need to supplement with red pepper and many other vitamin C-rich foods. He enjoys his fresh foods and looks forward to his daily salads. Please read up on guinea pig care and diet before adopting by visiting this excellent web site http://www.guinealynx.info/ He would love a home with people who will handle him daily, keep him well fed, and keep his habitat nice and clean. If you’re interested in possibly adopting Bean, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/guinea-pig-adoption-application/ He is being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood. His adoption fee of $60 benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue. For an additional $75, we’ll include a package of absolutely everything you need to care for him including a large cage, litter, pellets, hay, hidey hut and water bottle. And, yes … Friends of Petraits is handling masked, minimum contact, socially distant adoptions. show less

Samantha is a beautiful, sweet, talkative and well-behaved, two-year-old, female green-eyed silver tabby cat looking for a loving guardian. Samantha was hit by a car on new year’s eve and landed at Chicago Animal Care and Control with a broken pelvis. She came to Friends of Petraits Rescue where she has been resting and healing in a loving foster home. She had x-rays re-done today and she’s definitely on the mend, but still needs three more weeks before she has her spay surgery. She uses her litter box like a good girl. She is relaxed and well-behaved in the home; not at all a hider. She does not seem to have an appreciation for other cats, at least at first. When found she had no tags or microchip, so she’s looking for a new family that will keep her safely indoors. She is de-wormed, vaccinated for distemper and rabies, virus-tested negative and micro-chipped. She will be spayed in February when her healing is more complete. To meet and possibly adopt Samantha, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-cat-adoption-application/ After the application is complete, please contact friendsofpetraits@gmail.com to schedule an appointment to meet her. Her adoption fee of $150 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits Rescue. She is currently being fostered in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. show less

Sage and Smudge are adult female Californian rabbits looking for loving guardians along with their five seven-week-old babies that they raised together. The rabbits were relinquished to Friends of Petraits Rescue due to a family’s inability to care for them. These rabbits eat a healthy diet of mostly timothy and orchard hays, a small amount of pellets, plenty of fresh greens ... romaine, carrots with tops, cilantro, and bites of apples, etc as treats. They love chewing on toys made from edible hays and wood; they shred them, roll them, and throw them around. They also enjoy batting around balls. Watching an entire family of rabbits together is amazing. The father of the rabbits is a black rabbit that had been given away before I met him. They would be best adopted in pairs or to a home with another rabbit because they are very social and bonded. They also love attention from their humans. I keep the rabbits in two attached 30” high exercise pens with fun toys, water bowl, and multiple large litter boxes for hopping in. They love to explore the home, but I keep an eye on them as rabbits can chew cords and woodwork. They could easily be happy house rabbits if you rabbit-proof. They are learning to use their litter boxes quite well. The adult females will be spayed in December. The babies will be neutered and spayed in January. Their adoption fee of $200 as a pair benefits Friends of Petraits Rescue. If you need a carrying case, food, hay, litter, litter boxes, pens, and favorite toys, those are available through the rescue as well. Please fill out the adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/guinea-pig-adoption-application/ and follow up by contacting friendsofpetraits@gmail.com for an appointment to meet them. If you’d like to read up on rabbits and their care, please check out: http://www.rabbit.org/ They are being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood. show less

Twizzler is sweet, friendly and lovable 13-week-old, 3.7 pound female black Californian-mix rabbit looking for a loving guardian. Twizzler loves other rabbits and currently lives with her mom and aunt in a foster home. She’s never been in a cage in her life. She lives in a pen and uses a litter box just like a cat. She would love a home with another rabbit. If you don’t already have a rabbit, she can be adopted with either her mom Sage and aunt Smudge, or one of her brothers, Bob or Floyd. Twizzler is a typically fast and fun rabbit. She lets you pick her up and hug her, but she’s probably not the best option for small children. She eats a diet of timothy and orchard hays, a handful of pellets and a lot of salad. If you’d like to read up on rabbits and their care, please check out: http://www.rabbit.org/ Twizzler’s adoption fee of $100 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits Rescue. Her entire set up including her exercise pen, litter box and litter, pellets, water bowl, hay and carrying case is available for an additional $100. To meet and possibly adopt her, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/guinea-pig-adoption-application/and follow up by contacting friendsofpetraits@gmail.com to make an appointment to meet her. She is too young to be spayed, but she is extremely healthy, vet-checked and will be be spayed in February. She is being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood. show less

Twizzler, Bob, Snaps, Kinsley and Floyd are nine-week-old Californian-mix baby rabbits looking for loving guardians preferably in pairs, or one to a home with another rabbit. The rabbits were relinquished to Friends of Petraits Rescue due to a family’s inability to care for them after having an accidental litter. These rabbits eat a healthy diet of mostly timothy and orchard hays, a small amount of pellets, plenty of fresh greens ... romaine, kale, carrots with tops, cilantro, and bites of apples, etc as treats. I keep the rabbits in two attached 30” high exercise pens with fun toys, water bowl, and multiple large litter boxes for hopping in.
