This very good boy was initially shy and a bit scared when he first arrived but he`s come out of his shell so much! Alfalfa is now confident and goofy and he LOVES adventure! Whether it be going on a hike at McKinney Falls State Park, or going swimming, or even just hopping in the car for some sightseeing – Alfalfa is your guy!Alfafa is not only curious and adventurous, he is also a smarty pants! He knows several commands (sit, down, and shake), and we`re pretty sure he`d love to learn a few more. Oh, and he is somewhat of a diva… that’s right, Alfafa loves it when you brush his hair. He’ll thank you by wagging his bushy tail and maybe even giving you a kiss or two!As a larger, black dog, Alfafa is often overlooked here. When you walk past his kennel, he`ll bark and jump, but all he`s trying to say is `pick me!`. And he doesn`t understand why nobody ever does pick him :( Alfalfa just needs someone to give him a chance, which is why we`re hoping to find him a foster home, so they can see the amazing dog he is without all the stress of being at the shelter. As a member of the Orange Dot Crew, Alfafa will go home with everything you need, including a crate, harness, goodie bag, a training voucher, and all the support you need. show less

Meet Annie! She is a young, energetic pup who is understandably getting frustrated with shelter life. Annie loves being around people and her favorite thing is getting some snuggles and pets. She recently got to go on a hike with some other pups and she had SO much fun sniffin` all the things and meeting all the people! Annie also showed friendly and curious interest in the other pups, so there is potential for her to live with a confident and playful resident dog. Annie loves car rides and is ready to zoom-zoom right into a home! Annie prefers to be the only dog in the home, but sometimes she makes exceptions! Schedule a meet and greet to see if Annie and your resident pup will enjoy each other`s company. The Orange Dot Crew (a volunteer advocacy group at Austin Animal Center) will be there every step of the way to make sure that Annie is set up for success with her new family.I weigh approximately 55 lbs. show less

Apricot shines best as a personal human companion for adults and older children. There`s a soft side to Apricot and she loves to show it. She has great home manners and prefers a home with human companionship where she won`t be left for long, long hours daily but she is indeed crate trained for those shorter stretches when her people are away. Apricot is part of the Classic Canines nonprofit advocacy program at Austin Animal Center. show less

Arnold is such a goofy, sweet buddy. He enjoys playing fetch and will happily drop the ball at your toes, especially in exchange for a treat! Nylabones with cheese are this boy’s favorite goodie. Speaking of faves, this playful squeaker seeker will make the most of any item you toss his way – toys, ropes, balls, you name it! And speaking of squeaks, his bark comes out a little squeaky – which may make you chuckle because of his size. This big fellow can be a strong pup but he walks nicely with a harness. Volunteers and staff agree that Arnold is simply a very sweet boy who is waiting patiently for his forever spot… could it be with you? show less

Asteroid is a friendly guy with real life experience living with a family with older children. Asteroid never lived with other pets to become well socialized to them, but that`s no drawback for a guy who`s truest calling is being a home body. That`s where he`s most comfortable and where he performs his very best, while entertaining and bedazzling his adoring sci fi fans. At least a small yard with a privacy fence and he`s ready to park his space ship for good. He`s also wise enough to know his basic starship commands like come, down and stay and has his house training skills in check. Asteroid is waiting to meet you and reminds you the difference between a meteor and a meteorite is flying by or being home, and he wants to be home. He`ll see you soon? show less
