Buttercup needs you to know a few things about her. She has a lot to offer you and another cat friend, but you just have to give her time to show you. Not months, but maybe weeks. Meet this big hunka burnin love! Elvis is king of cuddles and loves hist treats. In the daytime he prefers solo gigs but if you entice him, he will play for you. When he is excited and happy, he will move his tail and roll his body to show you his belly and purring out loud. What tops the charts for Elvis? Brushing! Help him stay happy and handsome by brushing his soft fur. Despite being named for a famous crooner, he is pretty quiet. His hidden talent is catching toys! Consider this larger than life superstar! Elvis tested positive for FIV, which may cause a weakening of a cat’s immune system. FIV+ cats can live normal, long, healthy and happy lives. Frankie has a resilience and zeal for life that will capture your heart. She is so much more than her origin story but to understand where she is today, we have to acknowledge how far she has come. Frankie was shot with a pellet gun and some of the pellet fragments were lodged into her spine. Despite great efforts and surgery, Frankie remains semi-paralyzed in her back legs. She is undergoing daily physical therapy to stimulate her muscles, which she enjoys and cooperates with, especially if treats are involved.  Despite her therapy, it is likely she will never walk normally again. This does not slow Frankie down in the least! Wind up a toy and watch Frankie go go go! She zips around with the zoomies like any cat, and chases toys and shadows like a pro. Frankie likes to join her foster Mom on the couch or climb up into her cat tree. Nothing stops this adventurer! Except maybe bedtime with her person, she loves to share the bed or couch.    Caring for Frankie requires some experience with cats. She will need to continue her low-level physical therapy routine. Frankie can't totally control when she pees or poops. To prevent leakage and to avoid clean-up, her bladder is expressed three times a day. Any potential adopter will need to understand, learn and commit to properly caring for Frankie's needs while understanding they may change in the future. Frankie eats out of a slow feeder to help keep her weight at a healthy level.  Prior to adoption, all cats are spayed/neutered, tested for FIV/FELV, vaccinated and microchipped. This trio of garden cats would be happy hunting and lounging in a cozy backyard. The tuxedo and tortoiseshell are girls, and the all black cutie is a boy. They are not social with people or suitable to live indoors, but they work, live, and add a bit of whimsy to your life outside. They are great hunters. These three were TNR'd as kittens in October of 2019, and have been living along with a few other cats in a backyard since then. There are quite a few cats in this yard, as well as indoor cats in the home, and so we're hoping these three can continue to live and hunt outdoors in a new forever-yard. In the past, they have run away from a small dog and may do better in a yard with no dogs.   These three cats are not owned by The Dancing Cat. Havana is a very sweet older male Russian Blue mix. He is a stray in a residential neighborhood in Martinez, the north-east bay area. He's calm, talkative, and very friendly. He stays by his humans' side for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He doesn't stray far and it is always easy to find him. No one knows his history. People say he has been around for a long time with no home. Neighbors who know him and feed him would like to see him find a forever home where he can live out his senior years. Havana might prefer to be an only cat. This has prevented him from being adopted by a few families in the area. He once went to the veterinarian to have a scratch cleaned, and after that he lived indoors for a little while to heal. He used his litter box with no problem.  He is looking for an indoor retirement, but may appreciate a catio outdoor option.  Havana is not owned by The Dancing Cat. Iris is a gorgeous girl with a heart even more beautiful. Her long fur commands attention and her green eyes mesmerize. Beyond being a stunner she is sweet and interested in people. If you want a gentle companion who will stay near you once she acclimates, this is the cat for you. Iris struggles a bit with change and needs plenty of time to acclimate to a new space. Iris would thrive in a quiet home and she may be happiest as your only pet.  Iris does not use a litter box, this is a behavior that despite much effort has not resolved. In the distant past she has used a litter box but will not use one anymore. The Dancing Cat is searching for a fospice (foster + hospice) home for a very special cat. Jonas, a five-year-old tabby, enjoys cuddling for hours on end and long walks to his food bowl. It may take Jonas a day or two to truly warm up to his humans, but once he does, he will not leave their side. He enjoys being no further than a few feet from his humans at all times, often following them throughout the house. Jonas is very caring and protective of his humans. If they decide to sleep in on a weekend, Jonas may wake them up to check that they’re okay. If they work for too long, Jonas may come get them and guide them to the couch. Jonas is not very playful, and toys don’t generally hold his attention for very long. If you are open to being the forever this boy deserves for as long as he has, please apply. Jonas has an inoperable tumor in his abdomen and his time here may be weeks, months or maybe even a year. He eats a prescription diet, is on prednisolone to slow the progression of the growth, and is very easy to care for. There once was a King George who ruled England.  I was known for ruling my own little street in San Jose.  Sitting on that throne was not easy.  After years of being outside in the sunshine, I developed skin cancer on my ear.  I also was a little grouchy because I my teeth hurt.  My skin cancer was treated by wonderful caring vets last year, and a few weeks ago I had most of my teeth removed. My gums are healed and I am healthy and pain free.  My reign on the streets has ended and I now want to serve as a retired monarch.     My foster parents and foster cat brothers and sister all noticed the big change in my pain-free personality.  I love to run, play and cuddle with my foster family and can't wait to meet a long term family.  Won't you adopt me? Lucy is new to the world of indoor life. Navigating some things are easier than others, like finding the litter box? No problem! Exploring nooks and crannies? Easy! But some of the more nuanced things are still being explored. Lucy isn't always certain right away when a new person approaches her how she feels. She needs time to get to know people entering into her personal space, but when she knows you, she'll greet with you purrs, eager for pets and conversation. Still a young kitty, Lucy is playful and loves interactive play with wand toys and feathers -- she likes for you to be involved in playtime, too! A1190083Margie is a sweet but shy youthful torbie girl. Initially rescued from a colony as a teenager, she has been socialized in a multi-cat household and is now accustomed to tasty treats, soft beds and pets on the head. Margie is still shy and nervous around new people and experiences but loves head rubs and will even get ecstatic on occasion and ask for a tummy rub or two. But she will make you work hard for that privilege. She is not comfortable being picked up and still has concerns that the world might be out to her her, but she has made great progress in just a few months. She is not yet a lap cat, but if you are patient and willing to take things slow, she could get there. Margie is extremely playful, at only 10 months old she is still a kitten at heart but with the manners of a matron aunt. (Except when she gets her paws on a fuzzy mouse toy). She will play on her own, but also quite happy to leap after wand toys with you or chase after toys you throw for her. She won't bring them back, but she will happily run after them again once you go get them. Margie is also very treat motivated once she relaxes, hates to miss a meal, and will make sure you never have to be in the kitchen on your own. Her least favorite day is when the cleaning people come as they make lots of noise and move things around. When this happens, Margie will make herself a pillow fort and burrow into it until they are gone. Margie is not a beginner's cat, and will need someone who appreciates her shy sweet nature and can provide her with a calm, quiet household. She gets along great with the adult cat in residence in her foster home, and would probably like to have someone her size to play with. Nacho has the swagger of a dude cat who has lived a little life on the streets but is happy to be king of inside now. He likes to fluff up his big cat bed by kneading biscuits into it and will sleep in bed with his people. During the day his place is by the window, guarding the neighborhood. Nacho Man is a non-assuming but loyal friend. A fairly independent fellow, he doesn't ask for much: just a perch to look over his domain, a little playtime with you, and a spot in your bed--oh, and he'd prefer to be the only cat in your kingdom. He enjoys some petting but overall prefers to be in your company, adjacent to all that is. Nacho Man has a flea allergy which is managed with regular doses of his flea medicine. Sonic is an outgoing Alpha cat. He is a phenomenal hunter and will catch any mice that step foot near your house. He is also down to cuddle while you watch your favorite TV shows. He grew up with another cat and loves to play. He plays rough with other cats at times, like any young cat might, and would benefit from a slow and patient introduction to other feline friends.  He is up to date on his vaccinations. He enjoys the indoor outdoor life style. Sonic has asthma and an enlarged heart, as a result of which he requires extra medical care and monitoring. Do not let age fool you, Taika is as spry as a cat half her age! Curious about her surroundings and bold in her determination, this tabby gal is confident. She needs a day or two to adjust in a new home, but once she does prepare for the snuggles. She likes to make biscuits by kneading blankets, and she'll curl up under your chin or on your shoulder and will bop your face with hers when she wants some extra attention. Taika is a little chatty, purrs loudly and snores even louder.
