Adopt Angelina Ballerina for $0! Her adoption fee has been sponsored by Steven Touba!Personality: Angelina Ballerina is playful and loves her toys. She knows sit, stay and come along, and will follow these even during distracting walks. She will also come when called. Her foster mom said that she likes to relax in their yard until her foster is ready to go for their morning walk. She loves to go for runs and would make a great running or hiking buddy once her knee is fully healed. She is currently attending a training class with her foster family, and looks forward to continuing to learn new things in her new home. A training scholarship has been funded by The Pedigree Foundation. History: She is best friends with her foster family's 10 yr old daughter, so if you have kids, this is your dog!Dog/ Cat Skills: Angelina Ballerina has a forward, rowdy play style. She's a party in a little body. She does well with other dogs who match her exuberance and joyful nature. We don't know how she is with cats.Leash Skills: She pulls on the leash, and the use of a front clipping harness has helped her while she has been working on her leash manners. Medical: Angelina Ballerina just had TPLO surgery at HSSV on 7/11/21 and she is healing well in her foster home! Basically, she had a torn ligament in her knee that we fixed. She'll need about 8 weeks of relaxing and recuperating, but she can do that in your home too, so don't be shy and ask about meeting her! Ready to meet Angelina Ballerina? Arties is an extremely sweet, entertaining little velcro lap dog. Artie runs around barking at squirrels in the yard. He also likes to bark at the pool sweep while it runs around the pool. He is shy with new people so introductions should be slow, at his level on the floor and involve lots of tasty treats. He does best if he is given space to approach/retreat to get comfortable.Bath time is scary for Artie, but he is ok with being brushed and will need daily brushing to prevent matting. He will need regular visits to the groomer.Artie will run out open doors and down the street so would be at high risk of running away in homes where occupants are going inside and out a lot. We have been using dog gates in hallways in front of our doors after a couple of escapes and also leaving a leash on him to use if there is a lot of activity or visitors. Artie rides well in the car and enjoys having his own booster seat.Artie is needy so may use his mouth on your fingers to get attention. Be aware when getting your face close to him that he might nibble at your nose! As with any mouthing behavior, he should be given a firm "no" or "eh-eh" if this behavior occurs. On the other hand, he also gives lovely kisses!Artie has had potty accidents in the home. We are diligent in making sure he goes out first thing in the morning, after meals and before bedtime. We also watch him (which is easy since he is a velcro dog) and when we see him going down the hall, rush to take him outside, encouraging him with "Go Potty" then lots of praise when he does. Artie has been sleeping in a medium size crate at night. He will cry for a bit but then goes to sleep until morning. He may enjoy sleeping in bed with his new human, but would be best to wait until more potty routines are established. He's been left home alone for up to 4 hours. He generally sleeps when we are away but also will search around for inappropriate things to chew on. We gave him a flavored Nylabone and some small toys which he takes outside to play with.Artie peacefully coexists with my 12 year old cocker spaniel. We think he might enjoy another small dog companion to play with and show him the ropes as he follows my dog around. He is not protective of food or laps. He also spent time in a home with two large breed dogs and loved the cat!Artie is shy but warms up with treats and time. Due to his size and shy nature, he would do best with adults and gentle high school age children that would go slow and quietly with him. He would be a good dog to take to work as he sleeps on his bed all day. He will get tired on longer walks due to his hip issues. If he gets tired, we have just picked him up to let him rest, then he will resume walking.Artie will eat small breed kibble or canned food. He loves treats though!Foster Name: Elizabeth MortenFoster email: emorten@sbcglobal.netFoster Name: Alyssa CsabanyiFoster email:aepetcare@gmail.com Primary Color: Tan Weight: 7.86 Age: 1yrs 7mths 1wks show less

Hi, I'm Aston. I'm a gorgeous silver and grey tabby with huge orange eyes. I'm a little shy until I get to know you, but then I love cuddles and chin scratches. I also love to play with wand toys, chase kitten balls and wrestle with my buddy Sapporo. My purr is deep and I'm really affectionate once I'm comfortable. How does Aston react when being held? How does he feel about being picked up? - Aston takes a little time to warm up to people. It's best to wait for him to approach and sniff before petting or picking him up. Once he is comfortable he loves being held and cuddled. How does he play with you?- Aston plays very nicely with humans and did not ever bite or scratch while in his foster home. What is his behavior like with new people and/or children?- Aston is quite shy and needs a little time to warm up to people. He has not been exposed to children. I think he'd be fine with any child who knows to approach him slowly and be gentle with him. What is his behavior like with other animals?- Aston loves his buddy Sapporo and they played together frequently and snuggled together when sleeping. He was not exposed to other animals while in his foster home. What kind of litter box setup did you have for Aston? How would you describe his success using the litter box?- We have a covered litter box and use Swheat Scoop litter. Aston used the box appropriately and did not have any accidents while with us.Is there anything else that you would like the new adopter to know about him, such as any special tricks or adorable traits?- Aston is a loving, affectionate kitty. He'll need gentleness and patience while getting settled in his new home, but will be such a rewarding pet once he become comfortable. It may take a few days but will be worth the wait. Animal's Name: BarkleyAnimal ID Number: 186806What should your foster's bio say? Barkley is a high energy, extremely playful puppy. He was definitely the alpha pup in his litter of seven. He can be quite vocal when he wants something - usually attention! What did you implement for house training? Do you think it's working? Barkley was kept in a large pen, with his six litter mates. We kept potty pads on the floor of the pen, so he is quite used to those.Have you introduced them to a crate? If so, what kind of crate and what was their reaction? Barkley was only in a crate for car rides, but he is very used to being in a pen.How many hours did you leave them home alone? What was their behavior like when left alone? I work from home, so Barkley and his litter mates were not left alone often. He was great about keeping himself occupied in the pen, as long as he had toys to keep him entertained. What is their behavior like with other animals? Barkley can play a bit rough, but he understands "no", and responds to it. He definitely enjoys playing with other puppies and dogs, but he needs to be reminded to play gently. What is their behavior like with new people and/or children? : Barkley is very friendly - likes meeting new people, including kids. He should be supervised with smaller children, as he can play a bit rough. Is there anything else that you would like the new adopter to know about this dog, such as any special tricks or adorable traits? Barkley is a very friendly pup who enjoys being with people, and other dogs, but he can get a bit rambunctious. He is smart, and will respond well to training, but - for now - he needs to be reminded to play gently (with humans and other animals). My name is Bolt. I came to HSSV with my siblings, Sparky and Blaze. The three of us are pretty much triplets. All jet black and all fun loving. We love to play (ESPECIALLY chasing laser pointer lights and toys that swing - like the feather on a string toys). You will find it easy to get our attention with that type of toy and it will help you draw me closer to you. My sister, Sparky, may let you occasionally get in a quick pet while playing, but it's likely my brother, Blaze, and I will be watching where your hand is, even while playing. We prefer playtime to petting and cuddling. If you are looking to get two cats and are trying to choose two...Blaze and I make a great pair. We have similar temperaments, which helps us in new situations. We tend to stay together. My sister, Sparky, also enjoys being with us, but she is a little bit more comfortable with the humans, once she gets to know them.If I am sound asleep, you MIGHT be able to come up and pet me a little. But it takes a slow and gentle touch that doesn't surprise me. Same for my brother, Blaze. Sparky is okay with getting pet while sleeping or laying around, she will even purr when she allows petting. You'll have to earn my brother's and my trust before we get to that point. Our favorite time of day is night! As soon as evening comes, we'll come out from our sleeping and hiding spots and spend the rest of the night running and chasing each other. It is so much fun to run around, jump on things, and tackle our siblings. How does your cat react when being held? Blaze and I do not particularly love being held and we make sure we are hard to catch so that doesn't happen. You'll be able to hold Sparky and pet her for some time when she is calm. What is their behavior like with new people and/or children? : We've been around a lot of people and children in our foster home. We are a shy bunch, so we won't stick around to meet new people. We will either run away and hide or we'll just stay on a high perch from the cat scratcher and watch what is happening from a safe distance. With the people we have come to know and trust, we will hang out in the same room, find dark sleeping spots, hang out on a cat scratcher, or play. What is their behavior like with other animals? All three of us LOVE, LOVE, LOVE adult cats that are social and fun! We loved running around with them, rough housing, and would follow them to see what cool things we could learn (like finding where the adult cat food is and sleeping on the big comfy beds). Having a friendly adult cat in your home will really help me transition! We also have been staying with a small dog. We are okay with her around, but not comfortable when she tries to play with us, that startles us a bit.We want to join a home that may not be looking for a lap cat, but one that likes to watch your kitties have fun. We are active, cute, and fun to watch play. over time, we will allow that other cuddly, mushy stuff. Primary Color: Black Weight: 4.27 Age: 0yrs 3mths 1wks show less

Personality: Cactus is a sweet dog that can be nervous with new people and may try to move away at first. They warm up with a quiet slow approach and prefer to be able to come up to new people at their own pace, especially when yummy treats are involved. With some time, they will eagerly greet people with a tail wag and wiggles. Once they're comfortable they're a wonderful companion.A training scholarship has been funded by The Pedigree Foundation History: They came to us from a shelter in Oklahoma! Dog/Cat Skills: We have not had Cactus around dogs or cats at this time. Leash Skills: Cactus is still learning to walk on a leash, she can be nervous of loud noises or fast movements and may try to dart. We recommend walking them in a quiet area. Medical: Cactus came to us with heartworm. We are still treating her for this but since treatments are given over the course of a few weeks we are looking for a foster to adopt home for Cactus. Cactus will need strict bedrest and will not be able to go for long walks, hikes, runs, or play with other dogs for approximately 6 to 8 weeks. HSSV will provide treatment through the final two injections. At that time the adoption can be finalized and we recommend the adopter contacts their family vet to purchase monthly heartworm preventatives.
