50$ of Ari's adoption fee has been Sponsored!Personality: Ari can be a little shy at first, but warms up quickly. She will become to a velcro dog to her person and wants to be by your side at all times. She absolutely loves to cuddle and insists that she sleep in the bed with you. She rides in the crate nicely in the car but when it comes to sleeping accommodations she is the ultimate bed time snuggler and prefers the bed. She is a total lap dog and would be a great emotional support dog with her mellow personality. She does show sings of stress when left alone so it's recommended she works on leave alone training. She doesn't know how to walk on leash yet and prefers to be carried, or to ride in her doggy pouch for long walks.History: Ari has lived in an adult foster home that is quiet, with 3 other small chihuahuas. She is a peaceful co-exister and really enjoys the company of other polite small dogs. She will correct a more forward or larger dogs so the best match for her would be another older quiet dogs who will respect her space. Ari is overwhelmed with children and should go to a quiet adult household.Dog/Cat Skills: Ari is very social in play group and will happily go up to meet other dogs. If a dog is too forward with her she will let them know she is uncomfortable by giving a small correction. She doesn't love to share laps with other dogs but she does enjoy laying next to them on the couch. Ari has seen a few outdoor cats and will bark at them. She seems more afraid of the cats than anything because they are bigger than her.Leash Skills: Ari has not learned to walk on a leash. In foster took a few weeks to bond before she would follow on leash. She should only learn leash walking in a very quiet area. Will pull backwards out of collar if uncomfortable. It is recommended she wear a martingale collar or soft harness to avoid slipping out of collar. She LOVES to be carried, it is her preferred method of transportation. For long walks she loves to ride in her dog pouch (Which her foster is sending home with her).Medical: Ari had a dental cleaning recently at HSSV. The teeth were evaluated for fractures, and periodontal disease. Teeth that were determined to be unhealthy were removed. Ari likely has a medical condition called chronic bronchitis. This means that she has chronic inflammation of the airways of her lungs. Currently, the bronchitis is causing enough coughing that she is receiving an oral steroid to help alleviate the coughing. She is responding well to this treatment and this condition is usually well controlled with steroids or other medications prescribed by your family veterinarian. Minimizing irritants in the air is always helpful to a dog with bronchitis. We recommend not to allow cigarette smoke in the dog's environment and to regularly replace air filters at home.Ready to meet Ari ? Personality: Beckett is an athletic, energetic dog who is looking for a dog savvy home that is just as athletic as he is. He can be a little tentative in new places and can be sensitive to invasive handling, but with some time and space to settle in, he warms up quickly. His future family should be familiar with dog body language and reading his signals to help him slowly build confidence. He loves to have access to a yard where he gets more space to meet people, but he likes long walks, runs, and hikes even better! He would do best in an adult household with experience around working breeds like him. History: Beckett came to HSSV as a stray.Dog/Cat Skills: Beckett has participated in dog playgroup, and can be forward in greets. He has shown to be tentative with and possibly target intact/recently neutered male dogs (not uncommon as he was only recently neutered as well). Beckett does best with social, playful dogs who tolerate his forward approach. He will play chase and enjoys running around the yard with dogs. He has shown hyper focus on cats. Adopters should be familiar with breed tendencies. Leash Skills: Beckett can pull on leash, but needs time to get comfortable before being harnessed. He walks okay on leash once he can get some energy out. Beckett is eager to meet dogs, and can become excited and vocal when he sees them. We are working on this by redirecting him with treats and happy talk. Ready to meet Beckett? Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 53 Age: 2yrs 0mths 1wks show less

Personality: Burt is a sweet and friendly dog who gets along with humans and other dogs really well. When he first came into our household, he was sensitive to many noises and movements, but quickly adapted to our world, learned our habits, and now is quiet unless someone new arrives or he hears a strange sound. He also has become much more comfortable sleeping anywhere in the house even if no one is in the room. He has recovered well from a significant hip surgery, which has not impacted his ability to play, walk, sleep, or run cautiously. Burt takes treats gently, nudges us with his nose to greet us in the morning, loves to go for walks, and demonstrates puppy traits like chewing (flipflops, handles of bags), though this is beginning to subside with clear communication and a watchful eye. He is a warm and welcoming friend who will bring joy to your household. He is probably best in a family with people around. He has had a couple of accidents out of not knowing how to ask to go out, though these have been minor and infrequent. We take him on leash walks and work with him on walking next to us. He doesn't pull, but he meanders, causing us to trip or him to get tangled. He has not been left alone, however, if 2 or 3 of the 4 of us leave the house, he will whine and bark for quite a while until he finally settles down. He is cautious but gentle with children and may need time to warm up. History: Burt is living in a foster home with other dogs and people.Dog/Cat Skills: We do not have a history of Burt being around cats but he does well with other polite dogs. He warms up to them quickly then enjoys their company. Leash Skills: Burt walks well on a leash. Medical: Burt had a surgical procedure called a femoral head and neck ostectomy performed on his LEFT hip on 1/7/21 due to a painful disease of the hip joint. This surgery is commonly referred to as an "FHO." This leg should be used nearly normally after a couple of months. While we expect a good to excellent return of rear limb function, it is possible that he may always have a mild limp.Ready to meet Burt ? Personality: Sweet Calvin likes to follow you around and curl up next to you on the couch and bed. He has his favorite blanket that he likes when he is in his crate or not on the couch or bed. He cringes when you reach for him so you need to approach him slowly. He will paw at his foster's leg when he wants attention. He loves to explore the yard and roll around on the grass and scratch his back. He is housetrained and crate trained. He does not like a lot of noise and will hide if he gets stressed.History: Calvin has been living in a house with 4 senior dogs and one adult. He has not been around children.Dog/Cat skills: Calvin is good at meeting dogs and will usually just ignore them. His only focus is on you. He has not been around cats or other small animals.Leash Skills: He is leash trained and likes to go for walks.Medical: Calvin had a dental cleaning recently at HSSV. At that time the patient was anesthetized and all the teeth were cleaned with an ultrasonic scaler to remove tartar and plaque. The teeth were then polished to prevent premature tartar build-up. The teeth were evaluated for fractures and periodontal disease. Teeth that were determined to be unhealthy were removed. Dental care is an on-going process that will need to be addressed for the life of this patient. The adopting family is encouraged to discuss continuing dental care for this patient with their family veterinarian or a veterinary dentist.Ready to meet Calvin ?
