Aravis (DOB 7/23/2020) is a smart and fearless leader and enjoys playing with his siblings. Aslan (EDOB 7/23/2020) is lion in a kittens body. He is full of energy and love and leads his pride with confidence. When he's not playing with his brothers and climbing his cat towers he enjoys settling down with his foster mom for a cat nap. Poor Brandie (see my other photos & watch my video new video!) was neglected matted thin had no vet care and lived in a backyard. She was shy and nervous at the shelter and hid in the corner of her cage. With time staff were able to take her out and carry/pet her. She was ok and ignored other dogs but too distracted to interact. She has had no training and is under-socialized. She needs time to get healthy with holistic/fresh foods learn home training and get groomed. More info. to come while she gets TLC at her foster home. NOTE: She needs a very experience adult home with yard. No other dogs. Growls at other dogs. No kids. She has fear issues. 8/24/20 update: Brandie is very scared at her foster home and will growl when approached by them or their small dog. She needs time to decompress get healthy learn 'home living' and to trust people. She will not walk on leash. Needs grooming and then her spay surgery. Brandie will need weeks to month of rehab so she will not be available for a few weeks to month. No apartments for her. She needs experienced adult home with attached backyard for potty biz. No apt. In a few weeks when she feels safe and we learn more about her personality we will contact matching applicants. She needs a very experienced guardian and adult home only. 9/7/20: Video of her finally feeling safe and happy. Still using pee pads and learning house-training. She is still scared to be leashed and won't go out for walks yet. She is great with husband. Still afraid of collar and won't walk on leash. Need to work on house-training to go to yard. Need very patient and experienced guardian. She growls at the foster home's dog still. So home with no other dog. 10/11/20: Now with single lady foster home. She warmed up with foster mom. Active inside home. Need home with yard to continue to try to get her out. Still using pee pads in the house and afraid to be leashed for walks. She is still fearful of other dogs and will growl at them. Will need more time. Need very experience adult-only home. 10/29/20: She is now totally relaxed at home but she is not the cuddle type she ran away when trying to hug her. She is comfortable going out to the yard by herself now. We just started to have short walk outside the house about 10 minutes she was very scared at first shaking and pooping. But after a while she is ok. She is not good with toys. She chewed off pieces tried to swallow. She likes to play with the tennis ball. Also she runs away each time I have something on hand except food. She has a collar now it still takes a while to hook on the leash. Seems not possible to wipe her or comb her. She can go to bathroom indoor and outdoor. But for outdoor there must be no access to the wee pad then she will go outside. If she has a choice she will use the pad. I left the patio door open so she can go anytime. There are home visits with other dogs she was very scare and hide away. She is definitely a work in progress still but has come a long way. 12/22/20: Brandie is now going out to walk no problem. We go out two times a day. She is not a cuddle type as of now she stays on my lap for about 8-10 minutes and wants to go back to the floor. Not ready for belly rub. I tried to clean her paws after walks she is not happy and growls and tried to nip. Her bed is her territory once she is in she will growl and even tried to nip if you disturb her (petting or putting blanket on her) She is a sweet girl but you must know her character a strong leader will be good for her. When we walk outside and meet other dogs she shakes a lot and hides behind me when the other dogs come to her even other people just talk to me she is shaking and hiding behind me. Chandler and Joey were rescued from a shelter. Both were sad and timid at the shelter. They have been neglected unhealthy and have severe flea dermatitis. Once out of the shelter he was very happy friendly and sweet. Good with other dogs. He needs healthy food basic home training and TLC. Chandler and Joey are already separated into two different foster homes. Update from Foster Home: Chandler truly is a lovely and sweet boy. He’s not a big fan of loud noises or fast motions so I have been slowly introducing him to new experiences at his level. We have given him an area in the house where he can just relax process his new reality and feel safe. He is a little shy when meeting new people but will definitely warm up over time. Fortunately he has a very big appetite and is very treat motivated! I’m happy to report that he does not show any signs of food aggression. He also loves other dogs and loves to be in their company! He just wants to receive and give love so much but is wary possibly due to little human interaction in his past. Needs dog experienced adults. Chandler will surely share his affectionate personality with an appropriate family that understands his yearning to be loved. House-training is in progress. Need home with attached yard. On 8/31/20 3rd vet exam and neuter the vet told us that he has 4 front lower teeth worn down (common with neglect case and from being locked in a kennel & chewing cage). 3 Vets confirmed they did not need extraction. Prior vets and shelter vet did not inform us of need to remove any teeth. Only noted tartar at shelter. His skin is now healed from the flea dermatitis. Looking great. Loves food and eating well. Vet confirmed at time of neuter exam no dental extraction needed for worn lower bottom teeth. Chandler is very bonded to his foster home with women and men. Also great with neighbors older kids and other dogs that may visit out front. However he will need time to adjust emotionally to new potential adopters since he wants to follow his foster home. He would love a dog friend at home that is polite and not try to challenge him. Update: Chandler was adopted but returned within the month due to sudden fear issues and nipped their adult daughter. We are unsure why he has these random fear issues when he seemed so happy go lucky before. He needs a very quiet routine and experienced adult home with yard to work thru his fear issues. Update 1/11/21: Chandler is crate trained. He generally gets along fine with cats and has learned to ignore his feline companions. I have taught him how to sit down shake hand spin roll over and working on soldiering (low body crawl)!!! He’s intelligent and bonds through training!! Chandler is taking fluoxetine daily and trazodone on an as-needed basis. So far the medication seems to be helping calm his nervousness. He no longer looks around endlessly or in fear of noises in his surroundings. show less

Dasher was adopted but returned a week later due to adopter's dog being to excited to play with a new dog buddy. Dasher was perfect at their home and very welll behaved. They decided they are not ready for 2 dogs. Dasher's time was up at the shelter since he was nervous of the shelter food test with fake hand on pole. We evaluated him with treats/chews and had no issues by hand and took him in. He did great with our transporter and well behaved during his car ride. Very nice dog. Dasher needs basic training. Fine on leash. He is very friendly happy listens and is cooperative. He is very treat motivated and smart. Dasher loves playing with other dogs. He is doing great at his hero foster home and their GSD dog. They are already playing on day one. Dasher needs to time to heal from his neuter surgery. Dasher is a sweetie. He will need an experienced guardian and home with attached backyard. Due to his size he will need dog experienced kids and 14 yrs and up. Frankie came into FFR on 6/8/11 for our help to find her a new adoption home. Frankie is a very special dog. She comes from an abusive past and has flourished despite her past treatment. She is very curious yet cautious of new experiences. She does have high prey drive to other dogs and needs to be on leash at all times for control outside of her home. She has learned to play with toys and sleep in her crate. She is very smart and tries to avoid when she knows it’s time to do something she doesn’t want to do so we are working on her obedience manners. Frankie hasn’t had a lot of attention in her short life so she is very reluctant to let you stop petting her. With supervision she ignored the foster home's cat & fine with same size male dog. Frankie needs a very experienced pack leader guardian to train her. Adult home. No kids. Update: Frankie is doing great at her trainer/boarding home. She went out for a social walk at a park and streets and she was great meeting new people. She ignored other barking dogs but did bark at dogs at a store. She needs a forever very experienced home. Best as the only dog to continue her training. We are paying for her boarding with a trainer/boarding home. 9/30/20 update: Finally Frankie is in an experienced foster home for her golden years. Gibby is very friendly with people likes car rides going on walks and runs and taking naps. He is good in the house and prefers to be inside during the day. He is house trained and exhibits no destructive behavior to belongings or furniture. He likes to be with people all day. He has had no signs of aggression when I've had him. He is a gentle guy and very trainable. He knows 'sit' and 'leave it' and is very obedient. Best to be homed as a single dog or with a well adjusted friendly large dog. Gibson's exercise needs are low maintenance for his breed. He will sleep at your feet while you work from home for or watch you cook and do chores. I work full time and take him out in the evenings and mornings and that seems to be enough to keep him satisfied. He would be a great companion. I suspect he would like to run around with another furry companion if I had one for him. He seems very excited when he sees a friendly big dog! He does have separation anxiety but is manageable because he just wants a person with him. I hardly ever leave him alone except for short periods (10-15 minutes) but mainly lots of barking and trying to go through door or window to get to me. When left in the backyard for some time while knowing you're inside ( I watch him from a large window ) he will sleep by the door. He mainly wants to be by you. If there is another human out there he will follow them though- very friendly. He could benefit from crate training but I think it will take time. I have a crate for him and we are working on it. He wanted to get out when I put him in. Lots of barking when left alone even for short periods of time He needs a human to feel secure- not necessarily the owner. I have had friend and grandfather watch him and he doesn't react the same way. He gets a little sad but no barking and warms up to whose with him. He presents prey drive - someone familiar with the husky breed will be a great match! No small animals cats or rural areas near livestock. We are helping Gibby's current guardian to rehome him. McQueen has bright blue eyes and gorgeous. He is now relaxing at his hero foster home. He is friendly active and untrained. He was good meeting other dogs at the shelter but did not play. People friendly. Will need experienced guardian and home with yard. McQueen loves to run and need active home for daily long walks/hikes. Needs basic training. More info. to come from his foster home in 2 weeks. 1/22/21 Update: I walk him at least two times a day (sometimes three) so that he behaves at home. He is such a sweet and friendly boy but he’s very energetic! He loves to play tug-a-rope and then zooms around the yard at top speed. A good sized fenced-in yard is a must. He LOVES being out in the yard with access inside. He has never had an accident in the house. He’s a work in progress with other dogs. On walks he whines and pulls but I’m continuing the training with the gentle leader and doggy saddle bags. He is a beautiful dog and people stop me pretty much every time we go out to ask “What kind of dog is he?&rdquo. He’s a medium shedder. I’ve been brushing him with a Furminator. show less

Noelle (watch my video at the shelter and me at my foster home!) was neglected and thin when she was abandoned at a dog park. Shelter took her in and started her vet care. She had fly bites on her ear was thin had flea dermatitis needed dental (worn bottom teeth) and overall unhealthy. After a month at the shelter her time was up. She had no options left and was getting kennel stressed. Thanks to our foster home we were able to rescue her. Noelle is people friendly and loves attention. With dogs at the shelter play-yard she needed to meet first and then fine hanging out. She does listen to corrections. When finally out of the shelter she did do excitement barking at dogs at a distance. We have to see if she was barking because she was excited to be out finally (after a month) or reactive to dog park. GSD do like to talk. Noelle did fine on walk and already knows 'sit' and 'down' for treats. She loves to play ball and will bring it back & drop it. Noelle is now relaxing at her foster home after her spay and dental/extractions. She needs time to relax learn and get healthier. Noelle is beautiful and smart. Poor Ollie was badly neglected dirty and hair was matted to his skin. He had to be shaved down at our vet. His hero foster home bathed and trimmed the knots out of the hair around his face ears and feet. Ollie feels so much better now! Ollie is already friendly at his foster home with their 2 dogs. Very sweet and gentle. With healthy food and TLC he will be more adorable soon. He will not be ready for about 2-3 weeks and until he is healthy enough for his cryportic neuter surgery. More info. to come from his foster home. 1/11/21: Ollie is a fantastic little boy. Despite being neglected and underfed he is a happy sweet and active little dog. Ollie is not completely crate trained as he will cry/whine when I leave the room while crated. His whining can last from several minutes to over an hour. Therefore no apartments or condo/townhomes where there is a shared wall with another tenant. More info to come as we get to know each other. 1/21/21: Ollie is a confident active playful little guy. He is very curious and has a strong prey drive chasing after squirrels and digging gopher holes. Ollie still does not like his crate and will protest loudly. Ollie is a cuddler and once his 'hunting' is done for the day would love to hang out next to you and cuddle. Very food motivated. Potty-training is still in process. show less

Tomasina (DOB 4/27/2017) is a young brown tabby with white adult kitty with lots of energy. She likes to sit in laps sleep on beds and be a part of the conversation. She would also be best as an only cat. But she is a handful. She'll cross right in front of you as you walk down the hall--and several times along the way at that. She'll talk about how hungry she is--even when she's already eaten quite enough. She likes to play and cuddle. But she's definitely a better match for someone very patient and willing to spend lots of time with her. And though she'll sleep through the night with you as soon as you open your eyes she'll expect attention from you immediately. In fact she can probably hear your eyelids opening up. So there's no tricking her by facing the other way. And sometimes when she plays she whacks with her paw. It's not particularly hard but she does get worked up. She also has a fascination for open doors and windows. So she will need strict supervision when people are entering and exiting. She might even be considered a flight risk. Vinny was rescued from a shelter. He was neglected and emaciated. The shelter fed him extra food to help him gain some weight in the past 2 weeks. Vinny is a sweetie and charming to all people and dogs. With an over-excited large dog he just backed away. He is cooperative loves treats and is ready to learn. He rode very politely in crate in transporters car while being encouraged with occasional treats. Vinny is a sweetie and is now relaxing at his hero foster home with 2 other dogs. More info. to come as he learns relaxes gets healthier and heals from his neuter surgery and shows more of his personality. Needs a home with attached yard. Update 1/22/21: He likely needs someone at home as he needs lots of attention lots of walks (very well behaved on walks). Also he’s very rambunctious so older kids and nobody unsteady on their feet he puts his head between your legs from behind sometimes when you’re walking in the house. A person with previous Doberman experience would be best. He’s not for a novice dog owner for sure. He’s also pretty much crate trained. He does lie down and chill with you in the day and in the evening. Regarding house-training: If he’s taken out every 2 hours then yes he's housetrained but you do have to literally take him out. He can last all night in his crate without peeing. show less
