Arrow was first rescued as a puppy in New York. As a young girl, she and her then caretaker experienced a violent assault, which understandably changed her relationships with new humans moving forward. Many years later Arrow continues to work on overcoming this fear of strangers. Arrow was surrendered in early 2019 when her family found that they were pregnant and faced the decision of putting her down, for fear that no one would adopt a dog with her reactivity. Thankfully one of our trusted trainers, Stephanie DiOrio, had already been a large part of Arrow’s life for years and sincerely believed in her power to transform. Now Real Time Rescue is helping Arrow find a new home! Arrow enjoys camping, taking naps in the sun and stuffed animals. Arrow would do best in a home with no kids, a small mellow dog or no dogs at all. She is crate trained and a dream to go walking or hiking with! Because she is fearful of new people, she takes a little time to warm up, but when she does- she’s forever yours. With help from Stephanie DiOrio, Arrow is learning to work through her fears and accept new people into her life with less stress. This scrumptious chocolately boy is Bear! At 7 years old, Bear's family abandoned him at a boarding facility. We don't know much about his past except that Bear spent a lot of time outside and developed some anxious behaviors. But his future is looking much better! In January of 2021, we welcomed Bear officially into Real Time Rescue and scheduled him for a 2 week stint of Board & Train for necessary training needed before he enters the foster home that we have ready and waiting for some much needed decompression. Bear will continue to receive training after his initial two week stay and will be placed up for adoption once he is acclimated to life in a secure, loving home! Is this the Bear of your dreams? In November 2020, Real Time Rescue was contacted by Banning Veterinary Hospital in the Hi-Desert area. They explained that an elderly woman had called asking about euthanizing her two dogs, who were under three years old and healthy. She let them know that the reason for her call was she could no longer care for them and didn’t know what to do. Instead of scheduling an appointment, they gave them our number. Their daughter reached out to explain that she had just moved back to help her parents- her father had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s 6mos earlier and recently her mother with fibromyalgia. All three were surviving on very limited funds and the dogs, Bella & Buddy, spent their lives outside. She further explained that when her mother called a local shelter and asked what would happen to them if they turned them in, she was told if not adopted quickly they would be euthanized due to an already over crowded shelter. Her next call was Banning Vet, feeling that euthanizing them there would be the better option over a shelter taking care of it. This is a woman who did really want what was best for her dogs but didn’t have any idea how to help them with the resources provided to her. RTR let the family know we could help, but we’d have to find fosters first… and thanks to the rescue gods, we did! Bella is around 3 years old. Both she and her brother Buddy went directly to one of our trusted vets in Orange County and were given a clean bill of health and vaccinated. Both have been in foster homes since, decompressing and learning the ropes on how to live indoors. We hear Bella is a smart, loving lady, now fully potty and crate trained and ready to find her forever match! She’s a multi-talented kinda dog- both an expert cuddler and great hiker. Eager to please, she loves hanging with her people ,whatever they are up to! show less

Buddy is a sweet, playful boy and just generally always pretty happy. He has a goofy puppy way about him and LOVES belly rubs! Buddy is currently working with Alpha Dogs K9 Training to learn leash skills and manners. His new home will need to maintain his training when he goes home so he can be successful! We were introduced to 10yo Moose after looking into a message received about a dog in need that was seen chained to a car. He was actually chained to a tree with very little room to move, covered in flies with severe fly strike on both ears. Although he clearly needed our help, he did have an owner. After talking with them about what we could offer him in terms a new home, they gladly surrendered him. So after living 24/7/365 with chickens as his main companions, we're happy to say he is on his way to a better life! He has now been fully vetted, including treatment for the flystrike on his ears and an overdue dental on account of his rock chomping days. While he awaits the right foster match, he will be sleeping indoors with his own cot and clean blankets, enjoying regularly scheduled outside playtime throughout the day. As we learn more about Moose, one thing is clear- he is still learning what it means to be a functioning part of society. As a dog that has lived strictly outdoors with very little human attention and no dog socialization for ten years, we at RTR recognize that his next home will be asked to patiently guide him into this next phase of his life. He will need to be the only dog in the household and preferably based in an area where he wouldn't regularly encounter a large number of other dogs. Currently showing ribs and underweight at around 75lbs, we do expect that with the appetite we are seeing this scrawny senior should be filling out in no time. He is VERY strong and only beginning to know what it means to walk on a leash. He will need a solid routine and a bit of time and forgiveness to help with this.
