About Mary

Meet Mary! She's around three years old with lots of life to live and love to give. This pitbull sweetie is currently getting lots of love in a great foster home while she waits for her forever family to find her. Miss Mary is a true southern belle, she is house trained, crate trained, walks well on a leash and knows many commands! As the proper lady that she is, proper introductions with other dogs is very important to her. Mary is a little shy at first but soon as you win her over, she will never leave your side. She's a very affectionate girl who loves cuddling with her people on the couch. As for toys, she really enjoys a good rope or squeaky toy. This girl is the total package - loves to play but loves to be calm with her people, too. As for a home, she would love a family with patience as she gets to know them. She has so much love to give and will be the perfect companion. She would love a backyard to play in and a family who will let her fully participate in their lives - going for walks, on car rides, letting her sit with them on the couch. She just wants a family of her own. You might notice that Mary has a special badge on her profile! Mary is a "DPA Top Dog". A DPA Top Dog is a talented pup, that with the help of one of our partner trainers, completed a certification that included being sufficient in the following skills: sit/stay, loose walk on leash, sit politely for pets, supervised separations and accepting a greeting from a friendly stranger. Way to go Mary! Could that family be yours? Apply to adopt Mary today! All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Meet BB, the most resilient and happy dog you will ever meet. Her heart warms up to every human and dog instantly and she just loves hearing her name. Her tail will wag the second she hears your voice and will come to you and stay by your side. She loves getting pets, cuddles, and attention so much so, that her eyes will close in absolute bliss when you pet and cuddle her. She loves putting her head on your leg or chest just to be near you. You can truly feel the love and appreciation she has to give every day. BB needs a home that has calm animals since she is partially blind. She needs someone who will be dedicated to her health improvement, which includes a strict diet, and a little bit of exercise. She is okay in a crate but has no anxiety if left alone. She will just wait by the door until you come back. She is a champ taking her insulin shot in the morning and will gobble up any food you give her. BB is a bundle of joy and love and you cannot help but be inspired by her positivity. She makes you feel so loved and appreciated and would be the perfect addition to any home. In a nutshell, BB is SWEET; HAPPY; LOVING; CUDDLY; CALM; QUIET; HUNGRY; PATIENT; RESILIENT. Meet Drax! While he is as burly as his namesake, all Drax wants is a cuddle buddy who will give him all the belly rubs. Drax is about 4 years old and about 52 pounds, and has the cutest speckled coat ever. He loves to play with toys, especially those with squeakies, and will even jump in the air to catch them-because nothing goes over his head. Drax does well in his crate and is quickly mastering skills like sit in his foster home, but still needs some work on the leash. He can be a chill lap dog, but also loves to run and fetch. Drax gets along fine with the other dogs in his foster home, but would also be fine with being an only dog so all the toys and attention can be his. He would do best in a house with no cats though. Sometimes Drax doesn't know how big he is, so may not be the best fit for a house with young children, but if everyone is over about 10, bring them on! Are you his forever cuddle partner? Meet Eleanora (Nora)! She is the sweetest, most loving and affectionate two year old terrier-pittbull mix! Eleanora came to Dallas Pets Alive (DPA) as a pregnant dog. After giving birth to, and caring for, nine puppies, she was moved to her current foster's house to be trained and learn how to be a carefree pup! Eleanora is a very well-behaved dog. She is bathroom- and crate- trained. She knows how to sit and stay, but she is still learning a lot. She is highly food motivated though, and enjoys training, so we are not worried about her ability to continue learning. Eleanora would do very well with a family that can provide a comfortable spot at their feet so Nora can sit there. Mostly, she likes to sleep and sit near her family, especially if someone will give her attention. She does enjoy longer walks, and plays for a little bit each day, but she is a fairly mellow dog. Eleanora has adorable, super soft brown ears, and she loves to play with her toys on her back - it looks hilarious! She is full of love and fun! Eleanora has done well with meeting new dogs! Eleanora is on Instagram @emmaandfosterpets, if you want to see what she's up to! Eleanora has a waived adoption fee! This pet is available for pre-adoption and may not be officially ready for adoption, as it is still undergoing medical treatment. Say hello to Elijah! This ten-year-old pit bull is a total sweetheart who loves to sleep. In fact, his foster mom says if he were one of the Seven Dwarves, he would be Sleepy! He would love to rest his head in his forever home. Elijah is a great cuddler. He loves being by his humans at all times, but also enjoys a break from them to lay in the grass or dirt. He is blind but hears pretty well, so slow introductions are a must for him. But once he knows someone, he's a friend for life! Elijah is housetrained and does well on a leash once he gets comfortable with his surroundings. He also gets along well with other dogs and kids, but only with a slow introduction so he's not startled or scared. Elijah is a very affectionate boy who will wander around the house looking for his people, and then is so happy when he finds them. An ideal home for him would be a relaxed one so he's not startled. He loves bonding with his humans so he'd love a family that could be with him most of the time. This old boy deserves the perfect forever home. Could that be with you? Apply to adopt Elijah today! This pet is available for pre-adoption and may not be officially ready for adoption, as it is still undergoing medical treatment. Juicy Fruit doesn't want you to laugh at his cute name-he wants you to squish him like big ol' piece of bubble gum-albeit a furry one! This Karen is not like those other Karens. However, she did demand to speak with the manager at the shelter, and she made it very clear that she would never return to that establishment. When not asking to speak with managers, Karen spends her time loving on her humans, fetching a ball, or snoozing the day away. Although originally picked up as a stray and showing signs of having a recent litter, she is perfect in the house. Need to go run an errand? No problem; she can either come with you as the perfect passenger (chilled out in the backseat), or she can stay at home and rest comfortably in her crate where she's also content. She gets along well with the two resident pups in her foster home, and she does her business outside. Her ideal home could be many places. While she'd love to have a yard to stretch her legs and chase a ball, she'd also like to chill on the couch with her enormous noggin in your lap. Apply today to meet the perfect pup. Murasaki is a sweet girl. She loves being held and you could carry her around in your arms until they eventually give out. She's an independent kitty and has no problem perching on the windowsill or couch by herself and contemplating life, but she's also recently taken a liking to sitting on my lap while being petted. Is she turning into a lap kitty? Sure seems like it! She loves her wet food and she LOVES having her face rubbed. I think little face massages are her favorite thing on Earth. With the right amount of love and affection I think Murasaki will only become more and more social and affectionate herself. Lady Murasaki is one of our special medical cases. A recent ultrasound revealed a mass (tumor) on her liver, and it is likely a malignant biliary cystadenoma. Lady Murasaki is also positive for feline leukemia (FeLV) and is a carrier for calicivirus. Due to those conditions, she would need to live with other FeLV+ cats, or be the only cat in your household, or she would have to be kept separate from other FeLV- felines. Lady Murasaki is not spayed, and DPA's vet partner has advised against putting her through surgery. DPA's vet partner estimated that Lady Murasaki's lifespan would be approximately 2 to 3 years from when she was infected with FeLV; we don't know when that was, and it's possible the liver mass may shorten Lady Murasaki's lifespan. If you decided to move forward with adoption, you would take over Lady Murasaki's medical care with your private vet, with the goal of making her remaining time as comfortable as possible. Despite all of the above medical setbacks, Lady Murasaki is loving life in her foster home, and we'd love to see her in a forever home of her very own! This pet is available for pre-adoption and may not be officially ready for adoption, as it is still undergoing medical treatment.
