Anakin von Aach is a gorgeous 2 year old German Shepherd. Anakin is another dog from a more rural area who isn't too sure about life in a busy city kennel. He'd love to find a calmer adults only home away from all the hubbub. Anakin needs some time to adjust to new people and situations. He can be hand shy at first but off-leash he is calmer and more social. He's working with our professional trainer but he will still need a skilled handler who will help him feel more comfortable on leash. When it comes to his interactions with other canines, he meets them well but they don't hold his interest - and he does better with easygoing ones. He enters the play yard calmly, meets everyone well, avoids problems, and appears more relaxed and happy off-leash. Anakin would be so grateful if you would give him a chance. Astra von Altenmoor is a stunning 12-14 month old black sable German Shepherd. Active Astra is a love bug who just needs to find that special someone to keep up with her pace! She's a love with people and will melt in your arms -- she'll lean and rub against you like a cat, so you can pet her all over. Astra blasts out of the kennel for her walk, but settles down once you remind her that this is not the circus. She is still young and will need to continue her leash-training, and the rescue is happy to provide one free leash training session for this sweetie pie once adopted. She meets and walks well with other dogs and will become her goofy self and invite them to play, once comfortable. She really is a terrific dog with an athletic lifestyle and longs to run around in a wide-open park. (No cats please.) Come and meet Astra and see if she is your fitness partner! Axel von Apolda is a very handsome 2 year old Shepherd mix. Axel started his journey to Westside not knowing what life was really about. He previously lived in a rural area where we suspect he was not exposed to many people or different situations. Our professional trainer is working with this special boy who needs an equally special owner -- one who is experienced with dogs, as well as calm and matter-of-fact versus sentimental or overly-affectionate -- one who will continue Axel's transformation, together with some complementary training that Westside will provide in his new adults-only home. Axel has come so far. He now starts his day calmly and happily when he leaves his kennel. His leash manners, with just a little reminder, are great and he takes in all the smells of his new life as he walks down the street. Axel enjoys playgroups and interacts with all the dogs. He gravitates to the calmer dogs who match his personality and even enjoys playing with them. Those over-the-top ones, he avoids. At our rescue facility Axel has become an affectionate boy with the staff. He needs a little time to become comfortable with new people, so he needs someone willing to be patient with his progress. Axel will be so grateful for a confident owner whom he can trust to expose him to new experiences in life. Brandie von Brakel is a beautiful 3-year-old German Shepherd mix – a special girl who needs a special owner. She's a sleek lady with a striking face and sparkling eyes. Her leash manners are good and, when needed, she listens attentively to corrections. House-trained and intelligent, Brandie already knows her basic commands and is eager to please. This sweet and playful girl needs a confident, kind and no-nonsense female owner who will set boundaries and who will not provide an overdose of physical affection, which causes Brandie to become overly protective of her owner and aggressive towards outsiders. She should be the only dog in the family. Our Miss Agility can jump a 5-foot fence so a secure environment is important. Bravo von Berlin is a beautiful 2-3 year old smaller sized German Shepherd. He is a calmer boy in our kennel setting, he settles in nicely on walks, and he walks well with other dogs and does not pull on leash. Bravo’s presence of mind requires a calm and confident owner; and the rewards will be infinite, as he will respect and treasure your bond - he can be very loving with his people. In playgroups, he enjoys meeting other calm canine friends, surveying the atmosphere, and returning to greet people. The kennel staff remark how he always has a smile on his face. He even knows his basic commands, and he is housebroken and crate trained. He would really enjoy a task or a goal. He wants to show you he can accomplish anything with the right structure. Although he generally does okay around dogs, he does not appreciate certain males, and needs a cat free home. Bravo is looking for his better half, one who will form a partnership based on honor, structure, and admiration. She enjoys pack walks with other dogs but she’ll always prefer to be your one and only (and she's a no for cats). She is excited when exiting her kennel and has an air of confidence. We think she may be housebroken. Her leash manners/training are ready to be continued with her forever human, as she aims to please! Brooklyn is always happy to give and receive affection from her handler. Caesar von Castell is a beautiful 4 year old German Shepherd. Caesar is a smart and responsive shepherd who’s eager to please but does need an experienced owner. He didn’t get out much or get much attention before coming to Westside, so Ceasar is easily excited by his new normal. He generally has an outgoing, happy personality and is ready to go on his next adventure, whatever that may be. He is a lover of affection, walks okay on a leash, knows some commands, and meets other dogs well. In playgroups he prefers non-pushy dogs. Chewy von Celle is a beautiful 1-2 year-old German Shepherd. This big boy with the soft ears and sweet smile is quite the sharp fellow. Medium-energy Chewy enjoys his walks and is quite observant, always keeping an eye on what or who may be ahead. He is apprehensive towards unfamiliar people and surroundings, and will do best with a shepherd-experienced owner who can introduce him to new faces and friends both slowly and cautiously. With patience, Chewy becomes an easygoing, well-behaved boy who can be very sweet with those he knows, eating up any affection you’ll give him. Off leash, Chewy seems to enjoy the company of dogs (but not cats). He really enjoys canine playgroups, roaming around with his pals and soaking in all the playtime he can fit into his busy schedule. Chewy is loving and attentive, and is seeking a home that will make the most of these assets. Cruiser von Crailsheim is a stunning 4-5 year old red and black German Shepherd. We hope you saw his new video so you can see what a happy and sweet boy Cruiser is. He’s not a shy boy. He likes to brush up against you for attention and plant a kiss on you. His energy level is medium, and we think he's likely housebroken. Cruiser enjoys his walks and explorations, seeing the sights and sniffing the smells. Since arriving at the rescue, Cruiser has gained some much-needed weight and his coat has come in beautifully. He’s doing well with leash training. Cruiser has loosened up around other dogs; he’s doing well on pack walks and in canine playgroups, and would be best paired with a female if there's another dog in the home.
