About Leo(Formosan Mountain Dog)

THANK YOU for finding us and interest in our rescued dog. Because Leo is an international rescue through Taiwan. If you’re interested in adopting also can pick him up at international airport, please fill out an application on our website. Please email us if you have any question. Thank you very much. Apply at https://www.lifeofhopefoundation.org/adoption-application/ ----------------------- Leo is super friendly, affectionate and cuddly, he’s patiently waiting for a forever home, would that be you? Here is Leo’s story: Leo and his brother were abandoned in the remote mountain area where few people live. Luckily, his rescuer is one of the few who live there. The rescuer spayed and neutered every single stray dog in that mountain area, so she was pretty sure they were all abandoned by some Irresponsible people. When the rescuer found Leo and other dogs, including his brother, they didn’t know how long they had been in the torrential rain during a typhoon. They were very weak, malnourished and hopeless! The rescuer took them to the veterinarian for the check-up and got their shots. Happily, besides malnutrition, they’re all very healthy. Leo is currently staying with a foster family. He is ready for his forever home as he has been socialized and house-trained. If you’re interested in adopting Leo, please fill out an adoption application! We will give you more updates about Leo. *****Leo’s brother has been adopted and is currently happily living in California.

Apply at https://www.lifeofhopefoundation.org/adoption-application/ ----------------------- Dana was abandoned by her family in February 2019. When the family drove her off and left. Dana is very nervous and afraid. She was stopped on the mountain road. Waiting for her family to pick her up. She is not willing to go with anyone, until she was taken to the shelter in April. She is more sad and disappointed. We can never forget her helpless face.. A few days later, we decided to take her out of the shelter. Give her the chance to be loved again. Dana is no longer a naughty puppy. She is very smart and sweet. Healthy Dana energy is medium. She can walk quietly and slowly. Also can happy to run and play with dogs. Dana is never aggressive about anything. But she’s also not social dog. When she met a stranger or child. She just a quiet observation. She loves to play with other dog. THANK YOU for finding us and interest in our rescued dog. Because Goofy is an international rescue through Taiwan. If you’re interested in adopting also can pick him up at international airport, please fill out an application on our website. Please email us if you have any question. Thank you very much. Apply at https://www.lifeofhopefoundation.org/adoption-application/ ----------------------- Goofy and his 4 siblings (Umi, Lola, Hugo, & Ada) and other 4 pups were found in an undeveloped area to fend for themselves. Goofy and his little mates were estimated to be about 6 months when they were rescued. He was terrified of people at first and would peed himself when people attempted to pet him. Then, with the loving and nurturing care of his rescuer and foster family, he came out of his shell in a short few days and is now enjoying being petted by people. Goofy started to show people his goofy smiles (hence the name) and loves to give kisses to people. He loves to play with toys and to chase balls. He is very dog friendly and was even helping to socialize the puppies his rescuers brought home. Goofy is absolutely the sweetest, funniest/goofiest boy. Like many rescue dogs, he is still a little bit shy and anxious around strangers and the new environment. However, he is very food motivated, and warms up soon after you give him treats. If you allow him to come to you with treats on hand, he will warm up quickly as he is quite adaptive to the new environment with some patience and love. He has potty trained, prefers to do his businesses outdoors. He needs an active and stable family. He loves to follow you around, keep you company and give you lots of laughs. You will have a wonderful companion in Goofy! show less

Vito (Formosan Mountain Dog)

Shepherd (Unknown Type)

THANK YOU for finding us and interest in our rescued dog. Because Vito is an international rescue through Taiwan. If you’re interested... show more

THANK YOU for finding us and interest in our rescued dog. Because Vito is an international rescue through Taiwan. If you’re interested in adopting also can pick him up at international airport, please fill out an application on our website. Please email us if you have any question. Thank you very much. Apply at https://www.lifeofhopefoundation.org/adoption-application/ ----------------------- Vito is a sweet boy who enjoys the great outdoor. He likes to play with other dogs his size and gets along with cats. Vito is playful and would to play chase with cats such as his foster cat siblings. He is house-trained and prefers to do his business outdoor. We are looking for a family for Vito who is an experienced dog owner, preferably had a rescue dog before. Vito needs to be a suburban environment as city life can be very stressful for him – such as the sound of cars and the crowded space. A yard with secured fence so that he would be happy to run around the yard. He would thrive with a loving but a smaller family (he is fine with kids as his foster has a small boy) that are have daily routines as he takes time to warm up to strangers. If you are interested in Vito, please take the time to read his rescue story below and it will make sense to you regarding his personality. Vito and his litter mates were abandoned when they were less than a week old in an isolated area in the mountains in Taiwan, even before they opened their eyes. Without their mother to nourish them, the puppies were quite weak when they were first rescued. With the loving care from his rescuers, Vito developed into a healthy little boy. His blood work was normal and with no health issues. Sadly, on one of the daily trips to a local park, Vito was attacked by a man with a box cutter. This man was known in the area to have mental illness and was trying to cut people with the box cutter. Vito was playing at the time and started barking at this man when sensing the danger. His barks startled the man and the man fell to the ground, and attacked Vito by cutting his right front paw. Vito ran right back to his rescuer who took him immediately to a vet. Poor Vito had 10 stitches from this incident, and wad traumatized afterwards. He became terrified of strangers, in particular men, and lost his confidence. The rescuer and their friends began to proactively rehabilitate Vito ever since the incident by slowly exposing him to different social situations. He has made great stride since and is regaining his confidence. However, it does takes some times for him to warm up to others and he is still not a fan of noise or crowd. At times, he would bark at strangers to alert or hide behind his humans – as part of his coping mechanism. If you are patient and let him come to you, you would see his confidence returns and Vito would show you all the love in the world. show less
