About Cupid
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Rae (rae@luvzhorses.com) for more information about this pet. PLEASE NOTE: Comet 4 and Cupid (sisters) must be adopted together. Thank you. Hello, My name is Cupid and I'm a beautiful little Calico girl. I came from a colony near an apartment complex in Houston with my Mom and 3 brothers and 2 sisters. We are Mama's third litter and some of the great ladies that do rescue near where I lived decided that Mama was not going to have any more babies. Our poor Mama is a feral - that means she is extremely afraid of humans and won't let anyone touch her. Sad because she probably will never know the comforts of a loving indoor home, but at least she will be spayed, vaccinated against diseases and microchipped and returned to her familiar territory where there are people who feed and watch out for them. During the cold snap a kind man allowed us to take shelter inside his garage where he fed us and we kept warm and had a nice snuggly spot where Mama could take care of us. Mama came with us to Killeen for two reasons, to see if she would calm to the indoor life and the kind treatment of just one or two humans to see if she could adapt AND to stay with us as long as we needed. We got to stay with our Mom until we were weaned. It just so happens she’s still here with us but will probably need to go back to Houston soon. (If foster Mom can get some of us adopted there might be room for Momma to stay here with her.) All the others were adopted except me and Comet my sister who is also a beautiful Calico. We used to be mostly scared of everything because Mama is, but Foster Mom and Foster sister have both worked with us and now although I am still afraid I am letting Foster Sister pet me and pick me up for brief periods. I sometimes let Foster Mom pet me a bit and each day it’s getting easier. Because Comet and I are bonded and I get some of my courage from her Foster Mom wants us to go to a home together so we have a friend so we're not so scared. We need a home that is fairly calm and somewhat quiet. We would be best suited to an adult home with no children or almost grown children. Our new family will have to have a lot of patience and allow us to settle in and choose to interact with you and not be chased or cornered. We might even be a little hissy-spitty at first and I might hide from you but you can rest assured that is just fear. Foster Mom can instruct you on how best to integrate us into your world while giving us the confidence to relax and bond with you and create a lifelong friendship and affection. IF you are truly interested in the two of us let Foster Mom know and she can answer any of your questions. PS We don’t go to adoption events for now so you will need to make an appointment to meet with us and Foster Mom so you can see us in person.
