Beautiful, Sweet, Cuddly Abuelydia will have you seeing and feeling hearts - literally, she has a sideways heart on her side! This snuggler loves to be in the same room with you or to sit in your lap (or on your chest) while you're working or relaxing. Abuelydia will politely let you know when it is petting time. Her big and gorgeous green eyes, snuggly personality, and charm make her easy to love! She is an excellent and sweet young cat. When Abuelydia isn't cuddling up in your lap, she is off getting her playtime in. Some of her toys include her own tail, balls, scratchers, and strings. Abuelydia has a healthy sense of curiosity and is open to trying new toys! Abuelydia is a quiet gal and has spent time with her foster's three small dogs. She probably wouldn't mind another FeLV pal to show her the finer points of how-to-cat. Because of her easy nature, she could likely do well with gentle kids. We think the sideways heart on her side actually resembles the heart exclamation emoji! And it's the perfect emoji for Abuelydia. Ready to see the sideways heart in person? Arrange a meet and greet with Abuelydia! Abuelydia might have allergies so she is currently taking an easy oral medication to help with the itch. Abuelydia has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. Abuelydia can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care. All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. For further information or to see hearts with Abuelydia, please email adopt@austinpetsalive.org. show less

Survivor, Mellow, Affectionate Meet Agana! This buff-orange, mackerel tabby man is seriously the cutest. With his big cheeks and itty bitty eyes, his expressions are guaranteed to make your heart melt! Agana is a very polite and loving cat. He is even-tempered and well-behaved, though cautious of new people and environments. He has an overall mellow and independent disposition, but as he warms up to you and his new digs, his affectionate personality will slowly but surely shine through more and more - he sure knows how to purr up a storm to signal his contentment! He does well with his foster parents' resident dogs and cats, who are calm and gentle. Agana would do well in a quiet home that does not have anything chaotic or anxiety-inducing going on. Agana is paralyzed in his hind legs due to a recent fall from a balcony; his spinal cord was injured. He uses his front legs to scoot around, but he mostly prefers to hang out on comfortable furniture by the window. His favorite thing to do is snuggle with you for movie night! The paralysis causes Agana to be unable to control his bladder, so he will need to sleep on potty pads or pet blankets. He will appreciate someone who is patient with him as he adjusts to his new limited mobility - he is super gentle and just needs a bit of support and love. Agana is a miracle boy - he can't wait to find his person and show you how loyal a companion he is! For more info, check out his foster page at instagram.com/atx_foster_pawrents Incontinent cats are frequently overlooked because potential adopters assume the worst - that the cat's urinary or fecal incontinence is out-of-control, and they will never have a clean house again. But not all incontinent cats are created equal, and there are many different levels of care; some require very little special care! And in every other way, Agana is 'normal' - fun, loving, and a great companion! Contact APA! for information on the specifics for how to care for Agana. Agana is incontinent and requires extra medical care, which may include a regulated diet and/or manual expression. For more information, please contact APA! All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. Soft, Sweet, Sassy This once nomadic kitten has quickly become adjusted to the happy house cat life! We think Agatha started out as a community cat, then was adopted as a barn cat. Shortly after that, she started hanging out near a restaurant, whose owners fed her. A few months later, she was apparently hit by a car and left paralyzed in her rear legs. Poor girl! Fortunately, she found her way to APA! and she has been loving her new life! This sweet, calm, dream-of-a-kitty would be the perfect addition to your home. She takes a little time to warm up to a new home, people, and pet friends, but once she does, she will be your best gal. She loves being near her humans and other felines in the home, and will greet you with an adorable meow at the door when you come home. She would be content to have her unbelievably soft fur pet 90% of the day (especially chin scratches!) and the rest of the day spent playing and napping. She loves snuggling in a cat cave, on her humans lap, or near her feline friends. Her sassy, fierce side comes out when it is playtime! She loves a good wand toy, electronic pop-out toys, and toy mice. While Agatha's paralysis has left her incontinent, it is nothing to be afraid of! Not all incontinent cats require the same amount of care, and Agatha is surprisingly low-maintenance. It's important that she stay on a routine, and her routine is a piece-of-cake even for the inexperienced incontinent pet parents! And bonus: you don't have to clean a litter box! She does need to be manually expressed (which means gently pressing on her to help her go), but this task is quite simple to do and only takes a few minutes each day. She doesn't mind butt baths, stylish diapers, and baby wipes afterward either! See more about Agatha on Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/hatchling_fosters/ Agatha is blossoming each day in her foster home and cannot wait to fully bloom in her forever home! She is looking for someone who can be patient and learn her routine; she promises to reward you with all of her love and affection, as well as give you her love-filled, heart-melting looks on a daily (hourly?) basis! Her foster and APA! will guide you through learning how to care for her until you feel confident. You can do it! Agatha believes in you! Contact us today to learn more and to arrange a meet & greet. Agatha is incontinent and requires some extra medical care, which may include a regulated diet and/or manual expression. For more information, please contact APA! Tranquil, Comfortable, Squeaky Hey everyone, meet Airbud! This 4-year-old guy is as tranquil as a cat will come! He is chill, and generally stress free. Airbud is incredibly friendly; he loves attention and will stretch out his neck to get scratched under the chin or gently head-butt you for scratches around the ears and the top of his head. He plays only for short periods. When he's had enough he will loaf away. He prefers pets and scratches over toys and strings. At first brushing bewildered him a little, but once he decided it was okay he pressed into the brush and turned for his other side to be done. He prefers a soft-bristled brush, and even rubs his head against it. He's not too jazzed about being picked up. When picked up he leans over to get down, then right away he'll indicate he would like to be petted. It is likely that prior to his arrival at APA! he lived some place without much human interaction. His meows sound special and he can be quite chatty. He greets humans with meows, while he receives pets, and sometimes to initiate contact. His meows sound like a typical meow, but sometimes he surprises one with a little squeak one would expect from a kitten rather than an adult cat. He behaves well around other cats. If another cat hisses at him, he is unperturbed, remains calm, and politely keeps his distance. It is unknown his experience with dogs or children. With slow and gentle introductions he would probably make friends with them. Supervision with young children is advised around a new cat. Airbud is a healthy FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) cat. FIV+ cats typically live long, healthy lives! For more information, please contact APA! or read this FAQ: http://bit.ly/2DPxI43. Check out Airbud because he is one-in-a-million. Not only is he mellow, he also has a beautiful black and white coat and an unique hour-glass pattern on his nose. Airbud would do well in a calm single-member or multi-member family forever home. He deserves more attention than life has given him. He would like to get out of the shelter and into your home. All APA! cats are, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime fully vetted support offered by our Cat Behavior Team. For further information or to meet Airbud, please email adopt@austinpetsalive.org. show less
