With her unique markings and happy attitude, Arielle turns heads wherever she goes! This gorgeous girl has won over volunteers with her sweet demeanor and readiness for whatever activities the day brings. She has a nice flexible energy, which often expresses itself as a burst of happy excitement and then settles into a nice, calm rhythm. Whether it’s a day spent playing in the yard or snuggling up on the dog bed, Arielle is ready—just make sure there’s time somewhere for a peanut butter kong! She'll be happy to busy herself with her bone or toys while you get some things done. Arielle recently completed six weeks of training at the Lancaster State Prison with our friends at Paws For Life. There, she worked on her leash skills and polished her manners. Her trainers said she put a smile on their faces when they needed it most, and that she's a loving and affectionate dog. She's ready to take her new skills and bring them to your home! The name’s Bug--Professor Bug to his colleagues. Like the greatest academic minds, he’s equal parts brilliant, sensitive, and neurotic (not to mention, dashingly handsome!) and is looking for a family that can appreciate his multitudes. Bug is a graduate of ACPB Academy, where he quickly mastered his basic obedience. He took his aptitude back to his foster home, where he began cracking advanced level coursework like learning to drop his tennis ball to keep a game of fetch going, which he’ll happily do for an hour straight. Bug thinks that life is best lived with routine. He appreciates a household that keeps things consistent and predictable with their schedules, and is thriving in his quiet and structured foster home. Though he is book smart, his street smarts warrant some support as he negotiates the stimulation of the world outside the textbooks--life can get overwhelming quick, and that’s where you come in to give Bug the life of equal parts fun, playful, adventurous, but also patient, steady, and guiding. A professor can’t do his work on his own, so naturally Bug’s future home will need to include at least one confident, well-matched large dog to help him with his studies. He thrives with canine companions and is happy to play for hours, and subtly takes their tips and tricks about how to be a dog in the world. Jenny’s not the type to come to your house and help herself to a glass of water--she’s a quiet and polite houseguest, mostly preferring to hang in her crate during the day and then cuddle up on the couch for a movie night. That’s how Jenny prefers things for a while--she needs some time to feel at home. Her foster mom says slowly, but surely, Jenny is showing the dog that is inside of her: “Even though she’s shy, I know she’s in a good mood when she wiggles or hops up onto the couch enthusiastically!” A patient family that’s willing to play the long game when it comes to bringing Jenny out of her shell would suit her perfectly--the sights and sounds of the world are still pretty scary to her, so having your steadfast support through it all (and your couch snuggs at night) is all she asks for! She’s got a mellow energy, so she’s happy to stick around the house and yard to keep things low key until she builds the courage to take on more of the world. An important note Jenny wanted to make sure we included is that she is a big fan of peanut butter, cheese, and perked up significantly with take out from Dave’s Hot Chicken entered the house. She may be a bit of a DoorDash aficionado and would happily help you select the most delicious smelling dinners Los Angeles has to offer! Jenny would prefer to be your only dog at home, but could potentially live with a feline friend with a proper introduction. With her smushy, wrinkly face and her wonderful blend of affectionate and independent, Lilly V will bring guaranteed fun and cuteness to every day! Everyone Lilly V meets describes her as a smart girl who learns fast, including her trainers at the Paws For Life prison program, where she spent several weeks brushing up on her basics. She has a few skills she’s constantly honing out in the world while out on walks, but in addition to those daily bits of training, we also think she’d quite enjoy living with someone who likes to teach her new things. Tricks, fun enrichment, general Cool Stuff Dogs Like--she’s down to try it. Don’t worry, that’s not code for “secret border collie,” but she’s got the brains, so she’d love to go home with someone who wants to use ‘em! All of Lilly’s fosters have reported back that she does very well in the house--easy in her crate, potty trained, and is the perfect mix of sometimes independent but always ready for a good time. She's the ideal Stay at Home buddy--she'll entertain herself through your Zoom calls but be ready for a play break when you are! Lilly V would prefer to be the only dog at home, but could potentially live with a confident cat with a slow introduction. Sunbeams, seasonal fruits, chairs for exactly 1 (her), and long walks on secluded beaches: these are a few of Peaky’s favorite things. She’s the perfect COVID companion--she strongly prefers 6 feet from strangers and likes to keep the houseguests to members of the pod. Shaking hands and kissing babies may not be her jam, but if you’re a Real One, Peaky’s happy to lounge the day away as your sophisticated sidekick. With time, she’ll start to dole out her patented Peaky Pecks (the teeniest kisses) and press herself next to you on the couch. Peaky has a great low to flexible energy level and is quite satisfied with a neighborhood meander with plenty of time budgeted for sniffing (in her opinion, if you wanted to get your heart rate up, you should go for a run). She’s happy to throw in a special hike or adventure here or there--in fact, her favorite foster outing is to share a breakfast burrito and play in the waves on a quiet beach. From there, she’ll happily entertain herself with a sunbeam nap, a chew on a bone, or an occasional spurt of silliness or a formidable game of tug. When you’re gone, a crate full of cozy blankets is all she needs to content herself. Peaky’s occasional cat-like independence seems to come from a place of being an introverted worrywart. She’s been working hard in her foster home to learn new skills to lift the weight of the world off her shoulders. She considers herself a high maintenance low maintenance dog--really, all she needs is a comfy place to rest her head, share a snack, and keep up with her pesky allergies (did she mention she is quite literally allergic to people?!), and the rest of her sometimes silly, sometimes sweet, always quirky personality will reveal itself in time. Smiling, snuggling Sapphire is ready to bring her zen-like friendship and silly mojo to your home! Every morning, she begins the day with a ritual: she sits and presses herself into her foster mom’s chest, getting a long pet and a face massage, complete with piggy snorts and her chin on her FM’s shoulder. If you need a buddy for your morning mindfulness or coffee, Sapphire volunteers (but please don’t stop petting her!). Massages, snuggles, and pats are always welcome in Sapphire’s book, and she’s made a name for herself as “Best Hugger” once she gets to know you. But it’s not all rest and relaxation for Sapphire! She has an adventurous side, too, and is happy to go on nice neighborhood walks, or her favorite thing: Car rides! (Seriously, she’ll try to get in any open car door--so make sure it’s yours!) She loves to be in the car, letting the nice windy sniffs and smells wash over her. She’ll happily accompany you for car adventures to scenic overlooks or meandering hikes. At home, Sapphire has nice house manners and enjoys relaxing and helping out with taste testing snacks--she enjoys pretty much anything, including veggies that she loves to crunch! She’ll show you her silly side, too, with little zooms and spurts of energy complete with tip-tapping toenails that will make you smile. Sapphire received 6 weeks of training from our partners at the Paws For Life prison training program. With a little consistency and structure, she makes for a fantastic best friend. Sapphire would prefer to be the only pet in the home--it’s for the best, because she will keep you busy with all the hugging, massages, and snuggling your heart could ever desire!
