Meet  8.5 month old female 40lb shep black mouth curr/hound type mix, Anya. She came to us from Solano shelter, where she was found as a stray, but never reclaimed.  Foster says:   Anya is a happy girl that is excited to meet everyone! She knows sit and is working on house training. Anya sleeps through the night in her crate with little fuss. She is a high energy puppy that needs socializing and basic training to grow into the best doggie citizen she can be. She does well with other dogs but needs supervision as she can come on pretty strong and hasn’t learned great social skills yet- update she has been in a dog savvy foster and now doing very well with other dogs, its all about her energy and now she knows a lot more social skills and enjoys playing and being with other dogs she can romp around with.  She is not recommended for younger children as she is still learning not to jump on people. BATMAN is loyal to his person/people BATMAN is NOT a first dog for someone or for a family with small children  BATMAN does great with livestock, chickens and cats. He's great with other dogs.    BATMAN is not a working collie but he's extremely intelligent and learns very quickly. He's great living on property where he can run and play with other dogs and loves going for walks and car rides as long as he's with his people BATMAN needs a home with experienced dog handlers. Knowledge of behavior and how to help a nervous dog have confidence is crucial.  If you are familiar with collies or nervous dogs, you won't see issues with Batman but if he doesn't have rules and boundaries in his daily life, he makes poor choices.    We have worked with Bayman extensively. He doesn't panic as much and has learned that he can go where he feels secure instead of confronting what he's afraid of.  In public, we do not allow anyone to touch Batman without letting him go to them on his terms.    If you're looking for an amazing companion, fun ball dog and great farm dog who will protect his family from any threat, then Batman is your guy.    BATMAN deserves his own home. He is an amazing dog and has a lot to give the right home who understands how to help a nervous dog by providing a secure home with leadership.        Meet 12month old border collie x, Batman. He came to us from Seattle Shelter.  Batman's fee has been sponsored (no fee) but we will be careful about the home he goes to.  No apartments please.  Preferably a place with space to run and play and not a lot of strangers coming by or he needs to not be loose on his own.  Batman is a typical collie  very intelligent and once settled in, he loves his family.  He is nervous and does not meet new people well but we've been working on that.  When strangers ignore him and don't give eye contact he is fine but pressure on him and staring still make him nervous. Batman will make a great farm dog.  He has been fine with horses, chickens and all other dogs.  He learns quickly and loves to work.  He excels at obedience training.  Batman will go anywhere with his foster but he does not meet other people well.  He will panic and lunge if stared at for too long or if he feels threatened.  (with potential of biting) While this sounds bad, it's actually typical of many collies.  We have been working with him in public, having people drop treats and not engage with Batman.  He may never be a social dog with other people but if you know collies and how dedicated they are to their families, you will love Batman - after giving him space and letting him feel comfortable.   Foster says: Batman needs a very active lifestyle and someone who is familiar with the breed. He is very hyper and needs a home that will suit him well. He loves going  for walks, doing chores and going for car rides. He's perfectly behaved unless someone puts too much pressure on him, getting in his space. He will take treats from strangers, but can't handle petting or eye contact. Meet  3 yr old 18lb male  dachshund, Bingo. He came to us from Solano shelter where he was found as a stray but never reclaimed. *check out his adorable blue and brown eyes (bi eyed) Foster says:   Bingo is an affectionate, chill, and definitely low-maintenance boy who is ready to love his family. He is calm in a car, loves his crate, and pays attention to me almost all the time while we are on a walk. He often hangs out in his crate, sleeping with his towel and toys, and can stay there calmly throughout the night and while I’m out of the house for a few hours. He was intimidated by and barked at my dog (a big black lab-shep mix) on his first night here, but was totally fine (didn’t react at all; rather indifferent) the next morning. He does not bark at people walking by the house, and is rather a quiet boy. He jumps up but learned quickly that sitting is a good thing. I don’t know how he reacts to cats or small kids, but I recommend a house without small kids. He knows to go potty outside. Though he marked a few times inside the house the first day, the problem went away once he got to know his outside space and got warmed up to my own dog. He loves to go for a walk (and such a good walker), but doesn’t need a long walk. I think a 15-20 minute walk twice a day would probably be sufficient for him. It looked like he does not react well to other dogs when there is a barrier (e.g., crate door, gate, etc.) between him and the other dog, but he is fine when there is none. He does have a scar on his back so it’s possible that he was abused- he doesn't want invasive handling at first, needs time to warm up before being in his bubble, there was one occassional early on he reacted very quickly and instictively to my touch, now I’m aware of his space and the movements he doesn’t like, and he never responded to me in that way again. He has no problem with me picking him up, wiping his paws, or petting his face. He just doesn’t like (or gets scared or freezes up) quick / sudden movements around his face. Bingo warmed up to me so quickly and wants to please me. He would love to be a good company for somebody. He has a hard time meeting strangers, he warms up to his people and keeps his circle small. Timid and submissive but sweet, never seen her be aggressive. Good with other dogs. She living in a crate most of her life with her siblings prior to being rescue-she was literally surrendered with a urine filled crate.  Foster says: Chaquita is a sweet, smiley girl (smiles submissively, not out of aggression). When she’s happy she loves to smile at you. She loves to run around the backyard then cuddle with you on the couch. She’s fully potty trained and great with other dogs. Chaz is a 2-3 year old, male, Chihuahua type  mix, great with all other dogs. Friendly, good with kids and cats. He was the neighborhood stray for months until one day his rescuer decided to just see if he’d come into her backyard and he did and became part of the pack within minutes. Foster says: Chaz is an adorable little Chihuahua 2-3 years old who loves to run and play with toys and balls. He gets along fine with other dogs and even seems friendly with our hens. He's fine in his x-pen in the house and sleeps there at night. His favorite thing is an available lap. He just hops right up and gives enthusiastic kisses. So far, he seems to be housebroken and he'll sit for a treat. Foster says:    Chowder is a 2 year old, 18 pound Chiweenie type. She has been an absolute love in her foster home.  Chowder has lost her home twice now, due to her owners passing. Chowder can be very active and loves to explore.  She has loved being on a farm doing chores and is definitely a Velcro dog.  So much so that she will ride on a quad, tractor or anything her person gets on.  She is crate trained and is fostered with many large dogs and cats,   Chowder has lost both of her homes at a very young age.  She is an amazing girl but needs socialization and to experience getting out of the house to help her to get over her fears.  She is not great at meeting new people and dogs but listens instantly when corrected properly. Chowder needs a home with rules, boundaries and limitations and she is the perfect little family dog.  Or she needs a quiet home with women only. NO MEN While in our care, Chowder is learning to live a more active life meeting many animals and people.  We can help transition her into her new home for anyone open to learning how to help her feel comfortable and how to not let her be in charge.     When she came to us from the shelter, she was very clingy and attached herself quickly to one person. She came to us very stressed out and snappy, with other people but within a short time she was loving and affectionate (Shelters are scary afterall).   She loves affection, enjoys toys, walks well on a leash, is fine in the car, has had no accidents in the house, and is just an all-around easy girl. She seems very playful and yet can snooze on the couch for hours.  She loves exploring the yard and has nose-to-ground over every square foot! She is a Velcro dog who will follow you everywhere. She bonds very quickly to her person. Little kids may be too much for her. With the right person, she will be a constant companion and loving pet for life. Meet the 3 month old chi terrier mix family that came to us from Tulare. They were surrounded together with mom and dad who have now been adopted. Foster says:   Very sweet and loving pups, raised with big and small dogs and can hold their own. Live with dog friendly cats who allow their torture (pawing and kissing) but it's all in good fun. Very smart and quick to learn. Currently using a litter box with pellet bedding when inside and potty outside as well. They want to be with you once they bond and trust.
