** PLEASE READ: If a dog/puppy is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. In some cases this dog may be pending an adoption already, and their profile has not been updated yet. Please note, SPR does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated otherwise. All breeds listed are educated best estimates by transferring shelter staff, our volunteers or our vets. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them the All American MUTT.  Our dogs are rescued from various situations (kill-shelters, owner surrenders, strays, etc). It is most likely that both their parents were strays and mixes of some sort.

If you are interested in this dog, you MUST submit an application. Sandy Paws Rescue does not a have a public shelter in Mass, so there is no building you can visit without an appointment. Our dogs live in private foster homes or boarding kennels down south until adopted, or in some cases in our very small private kennel facility on Martha's Vineyard and foster care homes through out MV, Cape Cod and other parts of MA. A large majority of our dogs are adopted/spoken for prior to transport and release from state mandated isolation. To learn more about our rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of FAQ’s on our website at WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM.

Boo is a Border Collie in a Boston Terriers body. Boo must go to a home with a large fenced in backyard, no apartment living for this guy! He is very high energy, very playful and sweet little guy. He's mostly housebroken, crate trained, and good with other dogs-but any other dogs in his future home should match his energy level! Boo is good with kids but we will only place him in a home with older kids. Boo is looking for a breed-experienced adopter. Training will be required as well. He is currently in foster care on MV. His adopter will need to travel to the island if not currently residing there.  is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. Q: What is a Benefactor Puppy or Dog and why is their fee higher? Dogs and puppies with benefactor or higher adoption fees are sometimes purebred dogs or other rescue dogs that are in high demand for one reason or another. They are typically quickly adopted, even with their higher fees. Their increased adoption fees allow them to act as benefactors to other dogs in our care that require special medical care and a better chance at adoption. Some dogs spend over a year in our care and require expensive surgeries, heartworm treatment and professional training. Benefactor dogs help support the care of the dogs most in need with Sandy Paws Rescue. show less

Dawson is an owner surrender on MV who recently had his world turned upside down when he landed back in rescue after 2 years in his home. He is a sensitive boy who leans toward submissive/anxious- and was quite shut down at first, not understanding why his world has changed. After a week in his foster home he is starting to settle in and let his personality come through.  Dawson is a gentle soul with a loving personality. He seems to want to please – but needs help gaining confidence. He is good on leash and  very athletic - LOVES to play ball- and enjoys activity. BUUT – he’s also a total smoosh who loves his couch time (he took ownership of that day 1) and his cuddles. He sleeps at night with his 10 year old human foster sister. He is housebroken and makes it through the night. He is a smart pup who is a quick learner. He travels well in the car and loved his trips to the beach and trails with his foster family.  He does ok with the cat in his foster home but does seem to have a strong chase drive. With more exposure he may do well with cats. He has not seemed fixated on chickens and has done well around a horse as well. is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. From his foster mom: Hatley will be four months next week and he is a big goofy puppy!!   He loves to play, eat, sleep and repeat. Hatley is the biggest love bug puppy I have had the pleasure to foster.  He wants cuddles and all the love he can get. Hatley does not like the garbage truck!!  How dare they ruin his morning. Hatley is doing very well on his potty training.  He sleeps at night in a crate in my bedroom and goes right to sleep. Hatley likes to pile all his toys in one area - much like me and my collection of shoes!!  It’s a visual thing!! He loves to play with balls and his favorite are the ones the squeak!  He is good with his 13.5 year old foster brother and today they started leash training together.  It’s a big world and he loves it!! Hatley is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. To find the application, visit our website: WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM ** PLEASE READ: If a dog/puppy is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. To learn more about our rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of FAQ’s on our website at WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM **The FIRST step in adopting an animal from our rescue is to submit a completed adoption application. show less
