This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.  Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.  If you are looking to make a difference in a dogs life for a short period of time, please apply now.  What is fostering? Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.   What does it cost? As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency What if I can only foster a small dog? We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home.  What if I only want to foster a puppy? Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun! What if I want to adopt? If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.  I only want to foster a specific dog. If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found. We really need more foster homes and appreciate you reading this posting. I hope that you consider opening your heart and your home to help a dog in need. The love and care that you can provide for even a short period, will make a huge difference in the life of a dog. Hellooo kind Canadians! My name is Alexa and I'm a beautiful, 5 month old lab mix from Mexico. I currently weigh about 16 lbs but I think I'll be a medium-sized dog when I grow up. I was starved for the first few months of my life so I may be on the smaller side, it's a bit of a mystery. Let's take a wild guess and say I'll be somewhere between 30-45 lbs. Check out my adorable (yet sad) face!  Don't I look like I need a forever home ASAP?? What's my story? Well, me and my sis (Siri) were dumped on the side of the highway in Patzcuaro. When we were found, we looked almost dead because we were so skinny and weak from hunger. Don't worry, we have perked up since seeing a vet and spending lots of time in a home with food and hooman cuddles. As you can imagine, me and Siri are super attached to each other -- we were all each other had out on the streets, so we relied on each other. Although we aren't necessarily a "bonded pair", boy would it ever be great if we could go to the same home together! If not, maybe we could meet up for playdates, once we're both settled into our new homes in Canada? My rescuer says that me and Siri are THE SWEETEST rescues she has ever fostered. We are very affectionate with our foster mama (a very trustworthy hooman) and always want to cuddle. We try to climb into her recliner chair to get extra snuggles, hehe. A few nights ago, we even climbed into the bed with her (along with 8 other dogs and a cat!)-- guess what, we both slept nicely all night and greeted ourfoster mama with kisses in the morning. Since we've never lived in a house, we are still learning this whole "housebreaking" thing, butwe are learning fast! We get along well with the other dogs and loveee playing with toys.  I exhibit the classic Lab/Shepherd tendencies: intelligent, obedient, loyal, alert, and curious. Being a youngin', I do still exhibit some classic puppy behaviours (you know, jumping up, restless zoomies, some adolescent stubborness... hehe). What can you expect though, I'm just a kid! I'm very loving and playful and loveeee to hangout with other dogs. Do ya think we could hangout at the dog park sometimes? I love to wrestle with other pups, hehe. I'm real smart too... so I bet we could do agility training or teach me lots of cool tricks. I am a clean slate in terms of training—I've got my whole doggy life ahead of me to learn so many tricks and good manners.  Think you have room in your active life for a fun and sweet gal like me (and perhaps my sis, hehe)?  I am spayed and vaccinated. My adoption fee of $750 includes my airfare to Canada, presuming I can be accompanied by a Flight Volunteer ----------------------------- TRAVEL INFO: Dogs from Mexico typically arrive within 6-8 weeks of being approved for adoption. Mexico dogs fly into SEATTLE (not Vancouver). This necessitates a USA/Canada border transfer. Due to the pandemic-related travel restrictions, we must use a private Customs Brokerage company to bring the dog(s) across the border. There is an additional fee associated with this. The fees charged by Pacific Customs Brokers Ltd. range from $190-$270 per dog. The alternative is to wait until the pandemic ends and the USA/Canada border reopens. You will be asked if you are interested in the Brokerage option when your application is approved and further details will be provided at that time. PLEASE NOTE: There is no expectation for the adopter to pay any more than the adoption fee itself. We WILL get your dog to you eventually, we simply provide these as options in case an adopter wishes to receive their dog sooner than it would take to fly their dog to Vancouver with a flight volunteer. I am Alexi. If you're in the Seattle / greater Seattle area, please keep reading! If you have a big heart and love cuddles, I could be the one for you!  I am a cute terrier mix and maybe Berger Picard (around 10kg and 3.5 years old) and if you take a look into my deep brown eyes and my large muppet ears, you might quickly fall in love. We are looking to keep me in the Seattle / North Seattle area, as I'm really bonded to my foster Mom, and would need a slow transition. Also, you could think of adopting me as possibly a part time share, my foster Mom would like to stay in my life, help out and dog sit, if that would be okay with you. I was found by some kind people in an abandoned building, paralyzed in all four of my limbs. - Trust me, I'm a survivor!  The good news - I am now in a loving foster home, just North of Seattle, and have had an MRI. My c5-c6 is injured, which has caused paralysis in my four limbs. My foster mama has done a tremendous amount of work with me to make me stronger.  At this point I can not sit, stand or walk by myself and my bladder gets expressed about 4 times a day. I don't wear diapers, and I have a normal 2x daily bowel movement. I'm one of the few paralyzed dogs that doesn't need to wear diapers! Since the time I've been in foster care, my whole body has become stronger. Six months after I arrived here, my back legs started to "wake up," it was amazing! I now go on daily walks / tows in my cart (see my videos, or check out my IG account). Once my cart starts to get pulled in a forward motion, my rear legs follow (most days, though I do have stubborn days too). Currently I walk 1/4-1/2 a mile daily, sometimes more! I can't steer very well, because of my injury I tend to go left quite often. I move my front shoulders, but my front paws haven't woke up. My days consist of cart walks, park visits, exercises, cuddles and snoozing. Once I get my walk, I'm usually ready for cuddles and a nap. Sometimes that is in my cart, or my special backpack. Every time my human comes to give me love I do the wiggles and sometimes I sing to her. I know it will take a special person to give me a forever home, but I believe this world is full of special people. I already found one of them and she's my foster mom. If dreams come true, my next special person is reading this right now and lives close to my foster family! I'd love a family who has a nice doggy friend for me, and someone who is home often. I like to be around my humans, in the same room, and outside on adventures. My forever human should be physically fit and will continue my care.  If you live near me, my current Mama will go through my routines with you, including my favorite places to visit.  I live with two cats, sometimes I'm not bothered by them, but sometimes I growl and bark (can you blame me, I am part terrier). I'd prefer a home without small children, and any older children need to be kind, gentle and patient. Once I know you, and you sit and give me treats for a couple of minutes I earn your trust. When I'm out on my walks in my cart, I very rarely bark, though I will do a high pitch happy bark when I see a dog that peeks my interest! I would thrive to be in a home with another gentle and playful dog. Having another loving dog around really has helped my motivation and my happiness. I am also not neutered and need to stay that way. I need my hormones to help me get stronger.  I know it will take a special person to give me a forever home, but I believe you are out there somewhere and when we find each other both our lives will grow bigger with love. Thankfully, a lovely person in Canada has offered to foster me, so I have been taken in by my rescuer until I can get a flight there. I was found with all my legs tied up with a rope and run over by a car. I endured hellish pain. Some rescuers stepped in and I underwent severe surgery enduring pain and hardship for several months, but I was still able to recover. So, I was kept at a place after surgery, but because of improper care, I was hospitalized. I was then taken to my current shelter. It is extremely difficult to find homes for able bodies dogs, let alone one paralyzed. If a place for me had not been found, they feared they would have to euthanize me. Such a shame after so much was done to save me. Now, I have a chance at a new life. Though alas, I am paralyzed forever and can never play like other dogs... I have so much love to give and cuteness of personality to show you. You may think it may be sad for me to be disabled, but it is just the way my life is and I enjoy being alive and able to share my love of life with others. LALDR will provide a cart for me once I am in my new home, so I can learn to zip around like Lightning McQueen, Mario Andretti, Speedy Gonzales, Usain Bolt... Hahaa. It could be six to eight months before your dog could arrive. If you would like to increase the chance of your dog coming sooner, then the rescuer may be able to find a flight volunteer to Montreal or Toronto, however, this necessitates the use of unaccompanied cargo cost within Canada of $275-$475 per dog. I have plenty of energy to do it too. I was found on a road outside a city in the Middle East. I had a wounded and infected paw/leg. I wasn't even a year old yet when they found me. Despite all medical efforts, they had to amputate my leg. No worries, it hasn't affected my disposition in the least. Affection is my middle name. I will give you as many hugs as you can handle.  In fact, you can hug me aaaaall day long. I will soak it up like a sponge. I am also quite playful. I can run around all day just playing and playing... well, in between hugs that is. Hug, play, hug, play... I get along fine with other dogs, so having a playmate is great by me, whether canine or human. I've never been around cats or children. I'm a sweet boy who is crossing his paws in hopes that I might be able to join your family one day. I'd cross my toes too, if I could! Puppyhood can be a challenging time for dogs without proper homes, especially here in my country. It sure was for me. When I was rescued, I had parvovirus, was really skinny, and my skin had many wounds. But what can I say, I'm a survivor! I made it through all these challenges and grew up into a handsome, kind lad. Yes, I'm imagining a big announcement and flashing lights as you read my post - because you've finally found me! I know you've been looking at pictures, reading profiles and waiting for just the right pup - and here I am. A young dog with a sweet little face and wiggly bum: check! A rescue who would love a fresh start: check! A sweet, playful boy from the Middle East who dreams of a life in North America: Check, check and Check! Rescue dogs from my country are often street dogs who have never had a home, or a family, or were separated from our mothers when we were puppies because no one wanted to look after us. My whole story is unclear, but I can tell you the best day of my life so far: I was alone at a park, probably abandoned there, when some beautiful human beings found me and took me in. That one act of kindness has changed the whole trajectory of my life. I now know kindness and safety, have access to food and warmth, have toys to play with, and a cozy bed to sleep in at night. It's all pretty great. But one thing is missing: a forever family. I'd really like to have a person (or people) who will toss a ball for me, take me on walks, invite me to snuggle and occasionally give me a treat or two. I am content to live with other dogs, or cats or children - heck maybe even fish or a bird or two! I'm flexible. I'm still growing, and learning. Hopefully we can do some training together. Learning is really fun and a great way to bond. Having a moderate energy level makes me just right for all kinds of activities and chilling out times. Well hiya! I’m Bunnie, a 7 year old Picard Shepherd mix from Bahrain. I’m about 50 lbs and oh-so cute.  Not much is known about my history. I appear to be a pure-bred dog of sorts (I'm definitely not the typical "Bahraini Street Dog"). My foster mama thinks that I was imported and then dumped when my hoomans decided they didn't want me anymore. I don't know how they couldn't want such a sweetheart like me in their lives, I'm seriously so sweet and gentle! Lucky for me, BARC rescued me after I was dumped and I now live in my foster mama's home (her name is Sandi and she runs the BARC shelter). I am safe and sound here but oh how I'd love to have a family to call my own! Guess what, my foster mama even wants to help pay for me to come to Canada— isn’t that amazing?? True to my breed, I have a lively, intelligent personality and a sensitive disposition that responds quickly to obedience training. I am generally an easygoing and mellow pup but can be reserved towards strangers. I was incredibly shy when I was first rescued but I've slowly become more comfortable and confident since being at my amazing foster home. I am still quite shy upon first introductions but once I warm up to you, we will become fast friends! (https://youtu.be/nHLloB1DozE) I get along well with the other foster doggies in the house. I'm not big on "playing", but I am amicable and gentle. Maybe I'm just too sophisticated and mature to be play wrestling with my foster siblings-- I'm much better suited to long walks and calm, quiet evenings spent cuddled up watching movies. I haven't been tested around cats, so probably best for me to go to a feline-free home please.  I am an absolutely lovely dog (my foster mama's words, not mine!) and I am incredibly sweet and gentle (wouldn't hurt a fly!). I have so much love and life to give and I dream of having a furever home.  I am spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. My adoption fee of $650 includes my airfare to Canada, presuming I can be accompanied by a Flight Volunteer. **NOTE: BUNNIE has a sponsor in Bahrain who would like to contribute to her travel costs, this can be discussed in more detail once an adopter is found for her**   Due to the global pandemic and associated travel restrictions, it is taking longer than usual to find flight volunteers to escort your dog to Vancouver. Chasqui - male, saluki mix, neutered and vaccinated, has been living in a home for the past year Age: 15 months Weight: 50lb crate-trained, house-trained, basic obedience Chasqui is currently in the Kingdom of Bahrain (next to Saudi Arabia).  He was rescued from a deserted area of Bahrain when he was very young. He was alone, starving and very dehydrated.  Chasqui needs a home outside of Bahrain ASAP!  As Bahrain is so small, there are very few chances to rehome animals there, and so we are looking outside the country to find Chasqui a home. He is a goofy pup and loves to cuddle on your lap. He loves any game, which involves you, and his all-time favorite game is Tug of War with a rope toy, which he will happily play all day, every day.  He also loves to nap close to wherever you are. You are hisworld. Chasqui has some strong fear reactivity and so his new foster or adopter must be an experienced dog person who is happy to continue his training to eliminate this fear. The training will be provided free of charge. We think he would do best with an active family (with adults and older teens) who love to hike, walk, and will play with him a lot.  A fenced yard is also a must.   He is currently living with 3 cats without any issue, but has never been left unsupervised with them. There is a kitty in our current home, so we are fine with a cat. Although I haven't been around children yet, I am a young puppy still, so capable of learning to live with them. I do have a bit of a sensitive stomach to some foods, like eggs. They will make me sick or I don't digest them as well. I could probably use some pre & probiotics to help with this. Also, I don't like feeling hungry, so may need a few smaller meals rather than a couple big ones. It would be nice to be able to go out and play like normal puppies, but sadly it isn't safe here in our country for us to do that.
