About Ivory
Meet Ivory: Ivory is a 2 year old 8lb female Chihuahua. Ivory was an owner surrendered to the rescue after a rescue volunteer encouraged the owner to give her up since she was keeping her outside in a dog house with a chocolate lab. Ivory was born a runt in the home where the former owner bottle fed her for some amount of time. Ivory was malnourished and in poor condition when she came into rescue as an adult. She gravitates towards people and is currently being fostered with other dogs and does great with them. She loves playing with her foster brother, and now that the weather has warmed up, her foster dad has trouble getting her to come inside from playing all day in the fenced yard. Her foster dad says she seems happy to spend time in her crate as needed and she will go there on her own sometimes to relax. She absolutely loves other dogs that will play with her, and she needs a dog buddy in an adoptive home. She enjoys “Play fights” and chasing and sleeps in bed all night with other dogs and her humans. She loves to snuggle, and is very “Velcro”. One of her quirks includes growl barking when eating food, even when other dogs are not around. She has a great appetite and has put on much needed weight since being in foster care. Ivory plays with small toys, chases a laser pointer and likes tennis balls, but can’t pick them up. She is a surprisingly fast runner, and doesn’t like cold weather- especially when windy. She tolerates wearing a sweater just fine. When it’s sunny and calm, she will find a spot outside to bask herself in the sun until her heart is content. She doesn’t walk well on leash, and has a harness but foster dad is working on it when the weather is nice. She is up to date on vaccines, potty trained (still has occasional accidents- needs to be encouraged to go out regularly. To apply to adopt Ivory, go to www.charliescrusaders.org
