About DANGDANG
Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you.
Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.
Wow, is it true? Am I really going to have the chance to live as part of a human family in Canada? Amazing!
They call me Dangdang here in S.Korea, but if you bring me home you can call me damn lucky! I'm a ten year old jindo mix of 33lb, with a height of 20 inches to my shoulders.
There's a photo of me when I was first rescued and I must admit I'm a sorry sight. I had been tossed into a deep drainage ditch, along with my two siblings. There was no way we could escape. We were thrown down there in a sack and left to die. Who does that?
By the time of my rescue, one of my siblings had died and we two survivors were in bad shape. I had a severe skin infection and we were both emaciated and sickly. Thank goodness those days are far behind me and I am now a healthy dog who very much enjoys interacting with other dogs.
Because I am a jindo mix nobody here in S.Korea wanted to adopt me. Unfortunately domestic adoptions of jindo mix dogs are rare, despite the fact that we are predominantly gentle dogs who make great pets, but because of the dog meat industry here we are stigmatized. As a result I have spent most of my life in a shelter, albeit a good one with lots of volunteers who visit and take me for walks.
Anyway, let me tell you about my personality so we can figure out if we'd be good for each other. First off, I admit to being a little shy around strangers. I'm fine once I know you, but at first I will be timid and cautious. When my handler introduced me to strangers I initially tried to hide behind her back, but after a while I began to allow the stranger to touch me. When I met a child I behaved the same way - nervous at first, but then I let him pet me and remained fairly calm.
With other dogs I am very social and will even invite play. I'm proud to say I have very good doggy social skills and could handle myself confidently but politely at your local dog park or with your friends' dogs.
They introduced me to a feline creature in case my future home is occupied by one. I was a little wary of it, I confess. They tend not to interest me very much so I'm sure I could live with one if you wanted me to.
Around here they describe me as picky about my food. I just know what I like and don't like. The stuff I like tends to be softer, although I've had my teeth checked and they're O.K - no worries there. In fact I don't have any known health issues at all.
Please tell me you've been looking for a gentle, calm dog with an easy-to-walk pace and a "hello-dog-friend, pleased-to-meet-you" nature.
Here I am and I am sooooo ready to come home with you. Please make it so.
I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. My adoption fee of $550 + taxes, includes my airfare to Canada, presuming I am able to be accompanied by a Flight Volunteer.
