Loved at Last Dog Rescue
About BOND - adoption pending
Allow me to introduce myself to you; the name's Bond, just Bond.
I'm a dashing young jindo mix, recently rescued from the jaws of death. The guess is that I'm about 2 years old. I'm 22 inches tall and weigh 37lb.
Not so long ago I was on death row at the city pound. Not because I'm a mass murderer or some other evil villain, but just because I'm a jindo mix and therefore unlikely to be adopted by Koreans.
The good people of Welcome Dog Korea came by to see who they could save and my friendly nature instantly caught their attention. They unchained me, picked me up and whisked me away to a brighter future. How's that for a death-defying stunt!
I was skinny and malnourished when I first arrived at the WDK shelter, but I'm proud to say I look pretty handsome and healthy these days. If I wasn't fixed I'm sure I'd turn female heads almost as much as my namesake does. While I was living outside I got bitten by an infected tick and as a result I tested positive for tick fever last month. I've started the antibiotic treatment though and I'll be tested again before I travel.
Outgoing, happy and affectionate would be good adjectives to describe my personality. I'll willingly approach people with a wagging tail and a hope that I'll get some pets. But I'm not one of those dogs that will jump all over you in my desire to be touched; I'm very calm and gentle and even if you handle me a little more roughly I still enjoy it. I like children touching me too.
My friendliness also applies to other dogs and I tend to greet them with a sniff and an invitation to play. For those who aren't interested, I'll give them their space, but when I find a dog around my size who does respond, then woo-hoo, let's go. Actually, I can get a little carried away with my rough and tumble dog play sometimes, so you may need to calm me down on occasion. I'm very smart and responsive to training, so I'll quickly pick up your commands.
Since I seem a little too interested in cats, it's probably best if I don't live with one. I have been known to chase birds and cats I've seen outdoors.
Despite those bursts of activity, I'm not a super high energy dog. Really I'm about average; I walk well on leash and pay attention to my handler.
I love to play with toys and will happily carry one around in my mouth for a while. I also really enjoy my food, but have no problem with people taking treats from me or handling my food dish. I get slightly car sick and will drool, so let's not plan any road trips when I have a full stomach.
Look, nobody's perfect, but where else are you going to find a dog who is smart, handsome, sociable and available? Remember my name: Bond, just Bond.
I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. My adoption fee of $750 + tax, includes my airfare to Canada, presuming I am able to be accompanied by a Flight Volunteer.
Due to the global pandemic and associated travel restrictions, it is taking longer than usual to find flight volunteers to escort your dog to Vancouver.
Dogs from S. Korea typically arrive within 4-6 weeks of being approved for adoption.
IF you would like to get your dog here sooner, the Rescuer may be able to find your dog a flight to Seattle. This would then require a USA/Canada border transfer, which can be done in one of two ways:
- You may walk across the border at Peace Arch Park to collect your dog from a USA volunteer. You would declare your dog at Canadian Customs before walking back to your car. There is about a 75% chance that CBSA will require you to self-quarantine for 14 days, so please be prepared to do so if asked.
- Cost to adopter: $32 inspection fee.
- Pay for a brokerage company (Pacific Customs Brokers Ltd.) to get your dog across the border. You would meet them on the Canadian side, thus having no need to self-quarantine.
- Cost to adopter: $470 (+ $32 inspection fee) if only 1 dog is crossing, or $275 (+ $19 inspection fee) if 2+ dogs are crossing at the same time. (We do our best to facilitate 2 dogs crossing.)
PLEASE NOTE: There is no expectation for the adopter to pay any more than the adoption fee itself. We simply provide these as options in case an adopter wishes to receive their dog sooner. In the event you wish to choose one of these options, LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding the costs and will ask for your approval before any travel arrangements are made.
