About Buddy
Hi! I'm Buddy! I was a local owner surrender that they hold Harvey's I had worms. Come to find out, it was heartworm disease. Harvey's Hope did not hesitate and immediately started treatment. I'll be ready for adoption mid February. I need to stay within 45min of my overseeing vet in Lowell, MA due to needing bloodwork in 60 days after my adoption to ensure I am getting better. Harvey's will cover the bloodwork at their vet until I am heartworm negative. The vet thinks I'm a Chi- JRT mix, about 2 years old, and I've rounded out at 19lb (I should be 15, but quarantine and crate rest...). I go right in my crate with a "bedtime" command, I have mastered "sit" for a treat, and I am about 90% potty trained (my treatment was hindering this). My foster home has other dogs (5lb to 50lb) but no kids or cats. I did meet a cat at the groomer and I wanted to go after it, so no cats for me. I also met an 8 year old girl there and she liked to snuggle so I really liked her. I can be very weary of new people and fast movements with a tendency to fear bite, so please no little kids or chaotic households. I am a heavy notification barker so apartments, attached condos, duplexes etc would not be ideal for me. I am a serious creature of habit and I do NOT like missing a meal. I will absolutely let you know if you get off schedule by a few minutes and cry until you make my breakfast or dinner. I'd like a laid back house that enjoys playing ball once in a while (because I am really good at it when I get zoomies), is consistent with crate training, has lots of toys, definitely blankets, and knows how to manage a little dog's diet because I could eat til I explode. Even on my worst days feeling like poop, I STILL scream to be fed at 7am and 5pm on the dot. I'm hoping to find my forever home where we can take it slow and really bond. I can be temperamental at times (did I mention I'm part chi?) so my new family really needs to be familiar with my breed and know I will likely never be a social butterfly with new people or dogs. This means I would NOT be good at dog parks, either. I just like routine and my close circle, like a lot. Think we can be best friends forever this time? Apply at HarveysHope.org
Please note: We do not have a physical facility and the dogs are not located in Hudson, NH. We are a foster-based rescue and dogs can be located anywhere in New England. All adopters must be pre-approved to arrange a meet and greet, and the adopter is expected to travel to the dog's location. We do not transport once the dogs arrive in New England. Applications must be submitted at HarveysHope.org for consideration. We estimate it will be 1-2 weeks before you hear from one of our volunteers. Thank you!
