Meet Alfalfa! Alfalfa is a sweet, gentle 5-year-old pointer mix who will win your heart. He was found as a stray in Tennessee and brought to the vet by a good samaritan. His foster describes him as a low-key, very affectionate, attentive boy who doesn't bark, uses the doggie door and has low to medium energy. He gets along with a menagerie of dogs at the foster's home and plays with some. He just completed heartworm treatment and has a clean bill of health. He tries to snuggle with his foster dad and insists on a place in the bed at night. He is believed to be around 50 lb and his foster dad says that he is a great all-around dog. Meet Bella! Bella was rescued by Charlie’s Crusaders after a volunteer reached about a dog sitting in a crate outside all day in the rain in Elizabethtown, PA. From the information that Charlie’s was able to obtain, Bella was born on 12/5/2016 and is a Min Pin/Terrier mix and is around 20 pounds. Bella is up to date on her shots, spayed, and house broken. Bella is afraid of being crated and her foster reports that Bella “wants to be with me 24/7 and needs constant attention.” Bella needs to be an only dog and will do best in a home with an active family with older children (13 years or older) and applicants must have a fenced in yard. Meet Bruno Mars! Bruno has similarities to a Lab mix and is 2 years old. He was found abandoned on the streets in Mississippi waiting for weeks for his people to return. After a volunteer saw him waiting and waiting they went and rescued him. Bruno is around 60 lbs. and fully vetted. He is good with the dogs at his foster home and is so sweet. Since being in foster care, we discovered that he is farsighted and cannot see anything clearly up close. It does not effect his behavior, it's just something to be aware of that he does bump into things as he can't see them clearly. He will require a home with a physical 5ft or higher fenced yard as he has in the past tried to escape a shorter yard to go adventure and he was not able to find his way back. Bruno is house trained and walks well on the leash. Bruno Mars will due best in home with kids 10 and up and no cats, due to him not being able to see up close. He has a prey drive like most labs as he went after chickens in the fosters home. He is a total lovebug who enjoys lap snuggles. He LOVES to play. He will play with humans, dogs anyone willing to give him playtime. He is a bit mouthy when getting into play mode, but easily correctible by saying his name. He has so much love to give. Meet Cameron:  Cameron is thought to be a Carolina Dog/Pit mix around 2 years old.  Cameron was found as a stray in a high kill shelter and scheduled to be euthanized when we rescued him.  Cameron's current foster learned he isn't to fond of small children or big dogs as both scared him. Cameron did get along with puppies and older children.  Cameron became very sick and was rushed off to the emergency vet. Cameron spent 11 days there recovering from what they thought was sepsis most likely related to a severe kidney infection.  Cameron was severely dehydrated, lethargic with no appetite and loosing weight.  They think Cameton might have diabetes insipidous but will know more after some more testing scheduled on January 20th. Cameron is now home with his foster family again and recovering amazingly.  Cameron is eating like a champ, playing with his toys like a puppy and has not showed any signs of aggression.  Cameron loves to go on walks, enjoys his crate and is house trained.  Cameron is learning what doggy life with a family that loves you is suppose to be like.  Once Cameron is healthy and has been cleared by the vet he will start his heart worm treatment.  While going through Heart Worm treatment. We are hoping to find a forever family that can provide him a loving and healing environment.  Cameron would do great in a home with a fenced in yard (fence required), older childreh, no cats or large dogs.  Cameron is a very sweet boy who only wants to be loved and spoiled.  If you are interested in adopting or meeting Cameron please go to our website at Charliescrusaders.org and fill out our adoption application.    show less

Meet Charlie Brown!!  Charlie Brown is estimated to be around 1-2 years old Male American Staffordshire Terrier mix. Around 50 lbs,Neutered. He is Heartworm positive and will go through treatment covered by the Rescue. Charlie Brown was rescued by some animal lovers from Mud Island in Memphis. He was a stray living in the woods, scrounging for food near the garbage cans. It took some time but they were able to trap him. Charlie Brown is a sweet, affectionate dog. Who loves people. He prefers the company of female dogs so NO homes with other males. NO cats.  He is good with kids but due to his size and lack of training he would be better with kids 10 years or older. Meet Diego aka Jefe! Jefe is estimated to be about 1.5  years old and a pit mix. His current foster says this about him: This big ol' handsome dude is Jefe( Diego). He is a sweet boy that loves his toys. He walks well on a leash and knows sit and lay down! He is a big boy so a house without small children would be best, but he has done well with my 14 year old niece. He is dog friendly and even maintained his calm when two other stray dogs rushed us on a walk. He is currently HW+ but is undergoing treatment. He chases cats so no cats! Meet Honey Bun! Honey bun is estimated to be a 4 month old female with similarities to a Coonhound mix. She was picked up by animal control in MS after a larger dog was bullying her which may be how she ended up with a broken femur. The vets checked her out and the fracture repaired itself and it was determined by the orthopedic specialist that it does not cause her any pain, but she has a slight limp that she will walk with from the healing that occured before she was rescued. Honey Bun's foster mom describes her as a sweet, friendly, loyal girl who is laid back. She wants to be on your lap whenever she can be as she loves to be snuggled and held. She is gentle and fairly calm for a puppy, but does enjoy playtime. She is a little on the shy side at first, but warms up into the sweetest companion. She will make a great family pet to a lucky family. Honey Bun is up to date on vaccines, around 17lbs and is projected to be a med-large size dog when fully grown. Meet Keegan! Keegan is estimated to be about 2-3 years old and a Beagle/ bully breed mix! Keegan was part of a cruelty case down Southand pulled from MAS he is now looking for his forever home. Keegan is around 35 lbs loves people, affectionate and playful. Keegan needs to be an only dog or with a submissive dog. Keegan would be a great buddy or best friend, go for hikes, ride in the car or just hang out watching TV with you.  He definitely has hound or Beagle in him as he loves to keep his nose on the ground and sniff for new smells.  Keegan is very smart and if worked with could be trained for several commands. Meet Lucy! Current Foster says this about her: Lucy is a medium size 1 1/2 yr old mix breed puppy. Lucy is housetrained UTD on shots and heartworm negative. She loves humans and other dogs and is constantly wanting to play. She also loves being outdoors and even enjoys the little agility course at the dog park. She is very high energy and loving but she definitely needs some training to desensitize her to everything going on around her that excites her.  She is okay with kids (recommend 10 and older)but also overly exhuberant about giving sugars and getting loving.  Meet Molly! Molly is a beautiful pit mix around 6 years old! She was pulled from MAS a high kill shelter Down South, Molly was adopted out but then surrendered again because her mom was physically unable to care for her due to medical reasons. She has just finished heartworm treatment and looking for her forever home. Molly is good with people kids and other dogs her favorite thing to do is snuggle with you.
