About Aurelia

Aurelia is a resilient lady who is ready to find her family! Her name means "the golden one" which is fitting because she has a heart of gold.  This 5-year-old pit mix is a funny girl who can be found shaking her toys around on the lawn. She loves, loves, loves food, and truly enjoys keeping humans company. Aurelia was abandoned in the woods with her baby, Plum, who was adopted earlier this year. When we found her, Aurelia was completely emaciated and heartworm positive with serious gastric issues that have taken months of special food to try to fix due to the damage it did to her body. While she is still on special food, she's been recovering really well and will be finally ready to come up north this spring to a foster or adopter.

Please note: We do not have a physical facility and the dogs are not located in Hudson, NH. We are a foster-based rescue and dogs can be located anywhere in New England. All adopters must be pre-approved to arrange a meet and greet, and the adopter is expected to travel to the dog's location. We do not transport once the dogs arrive in New England. Applications must be submitted at HarveysHope.org for consideration. We estimate it will be 1-2 weeks before you hear from one of our volunteers. Thank you!

Looking for a loving sidekick? Balboa might be your guy! This incredibly sweet 5-7-year-old dog loves hanging his head out of the window on car rides, accepting lots of treats, and rolling in the grass. He just wants to be with you no matter what! While Balboa didn't always have it easy, he's gotten overcome a lot with his strong, joyful spirit. Balboa came to us paralyzed because he was shot with a BB gun. The BB is still in him, as it would do more damage to remove, but Balboa didn't let that dampen his enthusiasm. While he initially lost a ton of muscle mass, he's a fighter and is doing good on recovery, walking on his own. He has just successfully completed his heartworm treatment at our vet in South Carolina, so will be ready for his forever family in June! Apply to foster-to-adopt the sweetest boy ever today! Please note: We do not have a physical facility and the dogs are not located in Hudson, NH. We are a foster-based rescue and dogs can be located anywhere in New England. Bambi is approximately 8 years old and is looking for her forever home. Bambi is good with other dogs smaller than her once proper introductions are completed. She is learning some basic manners with our South Carolina boarding partner while she waits for her forever! Unfortunately, it is evident that Bambi was abused in the past and is extremely submissive upon corrections for unwanted behavior. She will drop to the ground as if you are going to hurt her, even with a verbal "no" or if you redirect her mouthiness with a plush toy. She will need to work with a behaviorist in her new home. She would do best in a home with another submissive dog or as the only dog getting all of the loving. She would not do well with a cat or children under 10 years old. She really dislikes having her picture taken, but we promise she is happy! This 55lb mama gave birth in Texas to a litter of puppies who were eaten alive by fire ants. Her one surviving pup, Flower, was adopted and now that Bambi has completed her heartworm treatment, she eagerly awaits a home of her own. Blizzard is a 5 year old husky and weighs about 55 lbs. He loves to be outside, and is excited to run around, but quickly settles down in the house. He is very affectionate and is always happy to give kisses and receive pets, or to chase a ball and play with dog toys. Blizzard is working on house training, but is crate trained and walks well on a leash. He is quickly learning basic commands and is a fast learner, especially when treats are involved!   Blizzard’s ideal family will be active and walk or hike with him at least twice a day. He would also make a good running buddy. The home will have an active dog for Blizzard to play and run with, and a large yard with 6ft fencing. While his first response is to be tough with other dogs, once he sees the dog won't play until he backs off, he settles right in—and it is important that he has a playmate. His future family will have dog-savvy kids, or a kid-free home, with no small animals that he would want to chase, and will understand that Blizzard is a vocal Husky. Blizzard’s adopter(s) will also understand how important it is for him to continue and be consistent with his training program. He has entered a 6-8 week board and train program and will be available for meets around April, but you can get pre approved to be his new family today!   Please note: We do not have a physical facility and the dogs are not located in Hudson, NH. We are a foster-based rescue and dogs can be located anywhere in New England. Hi! I'm Buddy! my daily routine consists of eating, napping, zoomies, repeat! I put eating first because it's my favorite. I'll eat anything you give me, and I'll thank you a million times! I take my breakfast at 7 am and 5 pm on the dot and treats in between when I've earned them. I also accept fluffy toys as payment for my good behavior: the bigger the better! Napping is my second favorite activity, and I am happy to do it anywhere- out in the sun, inside the car, wrapped up in a fuzzy blanket, or on your lap! Just please be careful when you wake me up; I don't love fast movements and can nip out of fear. Because of this, I probably wouldn't be the best match for little kids or chaotic households, but I'd love a family with older kids and maybe a calm dog as well. I'd like a laid back house that enjoys playing ball once in a while (because I am really good at it when I get zoomies), is consistent with crate training, has lots of toys and blankets, and knows how to manage a little dog's diet because I could eat till I explode.  The vet thinks I'm a Chi- JRT mix, about 2-3 years old, and I've rounded out at 19lb (I should be 15, but quarantine and crate rest...). I go right in my crate with a "bedtime" command, I have mastered "sit" for a treat, and I am about 90% potty trained (my treatment was hindering this). My foster home has other dogs (5lb to 50lb) but no kids or cats. I met an 8-year-old girl, and she liked to snuggle, so I really liked her. I am a creature of habit and don't love the routine getting changed up too much. Usually, new people make me nervous, but if they're calm and give me some space to come around, I like to settle in for a snuggle. Sometimes I have nightmares about being at a dog park or a big party... I get scared just thinking about it! I do my best to keep my family safe by raising my voice to let them know when I hear something off, so apartments, attached condos, duplexes, etc. would not be ideal for me. I was a local owner surrender with heartworm disease, but under Harvey's Hope's care, I have successfully completed my treatment and am finally available for adoption! I'm hoping to find a forever home where we can take it slow and really bond. Like most Chi mixes, I can be moody, so my new family really needs to be familiar with my breed and know I will likely never be a social butterfly with new people or dogs. I just like routine and my close circle, like a lot. Think we can be best friends forever this time?   Please note: We do not have a physical facility and the dogs are not located in Hudson, NH. We are a foster-based rescue and dogs can be located anywhere in New England. This pretty little mama is Celeste. She is around 2 yrs old, about 40 lbs, and just days after giving birth to her 7 puppies, she was dumped with them at a shelter in Georgia. Despite the fact that Harvey’s Hope was beyond full capacity, there was something about the look in her eyes, and we just couldn’t turn her away! Celeste came to us absolutely terrified of humans, and with just cause: humans failed her when she needed them most. She's making great progress and walks around with her tail wagging and the funniest smile on her face in Georgia, where she is taking time to raise her fluffernutters in the care of our vet partner. She and the babies will head up to New England to find their forever homes sometime in mid May. She is looking for a home with a kind and patient adopter, to make up for the abandonment she has experienced so far. If you think you could be that person, apply to make the rest of Celeste’s life one filled with comfort and love. Who wants to play fetch with this sweet, silly gal? This playful young pup is bursting with love and energy. She never turns down a meal and has been having lots of fun playing with her other puppy friends. While she has the young dog energy, Cuttles also looks forward to some downtime in her crate. However, her energy could bother a low-energy dog, so another young pup would be the best fit for her.  Cuttles came from Harris County, TX. The shelter adopted out all of her puppies, and she was the only one left. She is just over a year old, approx. 50lb, and has successfully completed heartworm treatment with our vet in South Carolina. She hasn't been able to meet any kids yet. Cuttles will be ready for a fantastic foster home or forever family in May, so get your applications in now if this girl sounds like the one you've been missing! This low-riding mama is ready to steal your heart! At around 45 pounds, Deidre is just the perfect snuggling size. Deidre is around 3 years old and as sweet as can be. She loves to come up to you and snuggle and will rest her head on your lap if you sit on the floor. Before she gave birth to her recent litter, dubbed the "Irish Pups" (who found their forever homes in no time), Deidre had Dylan, who is also patiently waiting to find his new family. While we aren't quite sure what breeds make up this magical mama, the vet thinks all her puppies are Basset Hound mixes, and she certainly has the legs to match that theory. This mama has successfully underdone heartworm treatment, and we're happy to report that she's finally negative and ready for her forever home! Deidre isn't a fan of cats and appreciates slow introductions to other dogs so that she knows they aren't going to hurt her. Apply today to give Deidre the chance she deserves!
