About JOEY - Bahrain
Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait for me!
Hey hey hey! How you doin’? My name is Joey, a ruggedly handsome white staffy/pitty mix from Bahrain. I’m 3 years old and weigh about 25 kg (my rescuers say that I must have heavy bones, hehehe). Although I sadly had my ears clipped in my past life, I am still a striking looking pooch with my beautiful white fur and friendly smile. Seriously, check out that smile!
My story is a bit sad; I know I was picked up and rescued from an area of Bahrain where people thought it was "cool" to remove dogs' ears and tails. Luckily my rescuers saved me and I have been living at Bahrain Animal Rescue Centre (BARC) ever since. My rescuers take such good care of me… but it’s been over a year now and all I want is to have a family and a home to call my very own!
I have been told that I am super sweet and incredibly cuddly with trustworthy humans. I love me some good belly rubs & ear scratches. Being a young lad, I still have some bursts of energy and will need daily walks in my new home. I am a good boy on leash and am very clever! I LOVE to roll in the grass, so I hope my new home has a yard or a park nearby. Check out the video of me; look at my adorable waddle-run, good leash-walking behaviour, gentle demeanor with humans, and grass-rolling shenanigans!
I’m “okay” with other dogs as long as I’m on leash. I can be a bit unpredictable at times, but as long as I get slowly introduced to new dogs while we’re both on leash, I can be good at greeting and playing nicely. Even though I can be friendly with other dogs, I need to be an only-doggy in my future household—what can I say, I just want ALL the love and attention! Oh also, not a fan of kitty cats – so I need a feline-free home please.
I am neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. My adoption fee of $650 includes my airfare to Canada, presuming I am able to be accompanied by a Flight Volunteer.
Due to the global pandemic and associated travel restrictions, it is taking longer than usual to find flight volunteers to escort your dog to Vancouver.
Dogs from Bahrain typically arrive within 6-8 months of being approved for adoption.
IF you would like to get your dog here sooner, the Rescuer can arrange to send your dog via unaccompanied cargo. This cost is quite high and typically ranges from $2500-$2800 per dog.
PLEASE NOTE: There is no expectation for the adopter to pay any more than the adoption fee itself. We simply provide these as options in case an adopter wishes to receive their dog sooner than it would take to fly their dog to Vancouver with a flight volunteer. In the event you wish to choose one of these options, LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding the costs and will ask for your approval before any travel arrangements are made.
Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.
Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website.
