About Pumak (Has Application)

Adoption Fee: $395 for Adult Dogs and Puppies

Name: Pumak
Suspected Breed(s): Beagle/Hound
Gender: Male
Age: 3 years old
Weight: 41 lbs
Personality: eager to please, trainable, goofy, outgoing, quick learner, smart, playful, friendly, energetic, funny
Observations with Dogs: Good with other dogs
Observations with Cats: Tested well with the shelter cats. He was more interested in their food.
Observations with Kids: Pumak would not do well in a home with children under 16 years old.
House Training Progress: No recent accidents
Crate Training Progress: Does well in the crate: after a bit of barking he settles in.
Location: DC area foster
Rescued From: Columbus County, NC
Additional Information: Pumak is a happy, wiggly, waggy energetic guy. He loves to play games and chase balls – sometimes he even brings them back! He is also a great walking companion, saying hello to dogs and people alike, and he is starting to get the hang of 'heel' and keeping a loose leash. This smartie is responding well to training, and already knows the words “sit,” “touch” and "off". Pumak is still learning what is a chew toy and what should be left alone, but given his love for treats and toys he redirects easily. He has made great progress with his mouthiness and nipping, but his adopter will need to continue training. Pumak is also a fan of giving kisses – lots and lots of them. He is currently learning that he doesn’t need to show his love all the time. Occasionally this cutie will have a hilarious fit of the “zoomies” Pumak is a great dog who knows how to bring joy to his people! Apply today to meet Pumak!

Name: Casper Suspected Breed(s): Domestic Short Hair Gender: Male Age: 4 months Weight: 4.5 lbs Personality: Playful, Gentle, Smart, Shy, Low Energy Observations with Dogs: Hasn't interacted with dogs. Observations with Cats: Comfortable with other cats (love City Kitty adoptable sister Wendy) Observations with Kids: Hasn't been observed with children. House Training Progress: No litter box accidents. Location: Washington DC Rescued From: Wytheville, VA Additional Information: Casper is a handsome grey and white kitty with attractive wide eyes and one white arm and one striped arm like a tattoo sleeve! He's an adorable sweetheart who unlike most kittens is fairly low energy and sleeps a lot of the day. He's very docile while napping and you can easily pick him up and put him on your lap and pet him while he sleeps on. But make no mistake; when it comes to playtime, Casper loves to chase ping pong balls or play tug-of-war with a ribbon with his litter mate Wendy, with whom he is being fostered. In fact, they sleep lying across each other a lot of the time and while not necessarily bonded, would be very happy to be adopted together. Remember, as the saying goes, “two kittens are easier than one”, because they're better socialized in pairs and will keep each other occupied when you're working or away from the house. Casper is the more playful of the two, but both are still a little cautious at first when humans approach, unless you're playing with them, when they forget their shyness. As they get older, they'll probably be more confident, especially if they have each other for support. Casper and Wendy enjoy sharing the same dinner bowl, but as a gentleman, Casper will let her eat first; it's so cute! She looks after him in turn and you'll often find her grooming him as he sleeps. Casper is still honing his jumping habits and so will sometimes climb up onto the couch or bed, but he doesn't do any damage when doing it, and has learned to use his scratching post every day. If there's a piece of furniture you definitely don't want him on, put a towel on a less fragile seat and he'll gravitate towards it as a sleeping spot. If you are looking for a mellow kitten to add to your family, Casper, alone or together with Wendy, is the perfect choice. Apply today to meet him (and Wendy)! ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Name: Chase fka Ace Suspected Breed(s): Lab Retriever Mix Gender: Male Age: ~8 months (as of mid November 2020) Weight: ~50 lbs Personality: adventurous, smart, trainable, energetic, outgoing, playful Observations with Dogs: Good with other dogs Observations with Cats: Good with cats (was surrendered because the owner's cats were mean to him - but he was very good with the cats) Observations with Kids: Loves to play with 9 & 12 year old in his foster home, but when he’s very excited he plays too roughly for the younger child. House Training Progress: One recent accident, but generally does very well. Crate Training Progress: Does well in crate, sleeps in his crate at night. He may bark at first but settles quickly. When he is crated during the day with his people around he barks for attention and playtime. Location: DC Area Foster Rescued From: Smyth County, VA Additional Information: Meet Chase! This cutie will win you over with his floppy ears and affectionate personality! Chase has lots of puppy energy, and burns it off by taking walks with his foster, fetching balls at the dog park, and playing with toys. Chase loves interacting with people and receiving lots of attention. This smarty-pants enjoys training sessions and is beginning to understand words like, “sit,” “down,” and “leave it”. Chase sometimes tries to greet new friends with a big hug, and he is learning to not jump or get overexcited upon introduction. He is also learning what is a toy to play with and what should not be chewed on. Chase would be happiest in a home that has another dog for him to play with, a fenced backyard, or a person who is very active and goes on walks/hikes frequently. When company is over he will make friends instantly and be the life of the party. He loves the outdoors but feels anxious and is reactive to crowded or busy city streets, so a quiet suburban environment would be the best fit for him. Apply today to meet handsome Copeland! __________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.  Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Bordatella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. Name: Cornelius Video: youtu.be/HfkLKfDhDyk Suspected Breed(s): Lab mix Gender: Male Age: 8 years old Weight: ~55 lbs Personality: Adaptable, friendly, shy, gentle, loyal, quiet, calm Observations with Dogs: Shy and submissive, but friendly. Does well with slow introductions where he can make the first move. Observations with Cats: Untested Observations with Kids: Untested. Shied away from limited encounters with children during walks. House Training Progress: Perfecting his house training. No accidents for one week and is on track to converting that into business as usual! Crate Training Progress: Untested. Really loves his bed -- spends much of his day there and sleeps well through the night.  Location: DC metro area Rescued From: Roane County, WV Additional Information: Cornelius is a go-with-the-flow kind of dog. He is the kind of buddy who enjoys very leisurely walks and doesn’t mind you hitting the snooze button a few times in the morning. He is a gentleman at home – doesn’t bark, beg or chew on anything. He loves spending time with his people, enjoys pets, and is very loyal. He’s even made friends with the neighbor’s dog. Cornelius is having a little trouble to city life and all of its bustle, so he needs a home in a quiet suburb with a fenced back yard. He is gaining confidence outside, though unexpected noises and unfamiliar people can startle him. He recovers pretty quickly and will continue on his merry way. Slow, calm introductions will warm Cornelius up to new people and get his tail wagging. Cheese and other treats are the great motivators for those walks later in the day. Cornelius is a sweet, low-key dog who will stand by you and love you without limits. Apply today to meet this heart of gold fella.  __________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application.
